RICK'S NC BBQ

Sometimes you come across a place that is so amazing you don’t want to share it. This is one of those places! As a family of foodies we will travel hundreds of miles, This is one of those places! I would 100% say that this restaurant is superior to every barbecue & fried chicken restaurant on the East Coast (Not just North Carolina). It is hard for me to believe they were not the BBQ featured on diners, drive-ins and dives. They have the eat on a flip flop sauces.
Everything is delicious the ribs don’t need sauce. The sides are all spot on. Don’t get me started on The fried chicken, it is hands-down better than any fried chicken on the market. The chicken alone is worth visiting! If you enjoy food worth your hard earned money, You would do yourself a disservice not trying this restaurant. Totally worth not only the 45 minute drive but the Ferry too.

Hands down the best bbq I’ve ever had. The service was excellent and Rick is very engaging and an excellent host. My wife and daughter said the fried chicken was the best they’ve ever had and would agree with them. If you are remotely near Oriental NC be sure to stop in and enjoy a great meal.

Had the pulled pork sandwich, slaw and mac n cheese. Service was very friendly and prompt. Food was fantastic and portions were generous. They have some beers on draft and several bottle selections in addition to soft drinks. Highly recommend!!

I came to Rick's with an appetite after sailing for a week or so. I left satisfied! The ribs were some of the best I have had. Juicy, with a nice bark of seasoned perfection. The collards were very well seasoned and didn't even need vinegar. I added some fried okra, which was tender and crispy. All the food was served hot, as it should be! The service was great, and Rick himself came by my table to say hi and check on me. There were some good beers available, though I decided on sweet tea today. Rick's has given me yet another reason why I will be stopping in Oriental whenever possible.

The food was amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection. We received a lot more food than we could possibly eat. The BBQ sauce was served on the side, and we were given both a vinegar and a BBQ sauce; both were delicious. The potato wedges were perfect, the mac and cheese tasted like it was homemade, and the fried chicken was nice and juicy. Service was quick and attentive, and free pin ball machine to play while you wait.

Food was great and Rick was friendly enough to check on all the customers while we were there. Pulled pork bbq and hush puppies were excellent.

Rick's BBQ is a hidden gem and worth the drive to Oriental! We wanted something local and off the beaten path for our last vacation dinner and wish we'd have discovered Rick's earlier in our trip so we could have gone more than once! We were welcomed with a smile, enjoyed Ravens/Redskins football banter, had the most amazing meal, and left knowing Rick's would be a requirement for all future New Bern trips!

Went to Rick's NC BBQ based upon the good reviews while vacationing in the area. All the fantastic reviews are spot on. The food was excellent! We had pulled pork, fried chicken, slaw, beans, mac and cheese, potato salad and corn bread. All of it was exceptional. Also, the people working there were very friendly and welcoming. The place itself is nothing fancy, but with food that good, who cares!

Fabulous, fall off the bone, smoked ribs! Great customer service, Rick is great! Would love to see things perked up a bit in the dining area, but it's clean and sufficient for getting saucy!! Corn bread rocks 🙂

Do yourself a favor and stop at Ricks for your next meal!! After a morning duck hunt the food at Ricks hits on some different notes, and the service from the crew is impeccable. Hate I missed the brisket, but I’ll be sure to come back and try it soon when its Ricks BarBQ!!

One of the quiet surprises in eastern North Carolina. A barbecue chef from Maryland comes down here who shows most of the locals up on how to do Q. Everything about this place is scratch made and great. And Try his fried chicken! I think the Colonel could learn how to make fried chicken from this culinary artist. And his other meats will make u want to go on a Keto or Adkins diet. Well worth the trip here.

We got the 10oz BBQ platter with a fried chicken piece, collard greens, and mac-n-cheese, as well as some cornbread. All was delicious. Will definitely return next time we’re in town!

The best ribs and coleslaw we have Ever had. And we have had bbq in many states across the country. Just amazing!!!

Very friendly owners/wait staff. Their BBQ has a great smoked taste and the fried chicken is really good. The potato wedges are real potatoes and I think they are fantastic. Lots of BBQ on the plates and I cant eat it all. The slaw comes on the side for the sandwiches and is delicious. Try their ribs also.

Rick catered my wedding celebration over Labor Day weekend. I'm so glad we went with him. He worked very closely with us to put our menu together. We had out of town family and friends coming, and I wanted them to get a southern BBQ feast. We had ribs, pulled pork, fried chicken, and all the fixings: mac & cheese, potato salad, baked beans plus good old sweet tea. Our guests raved about the taste and the quality of the food. Hubby and I gained a new set of friends. Highly, highly recommended!

Rick’s BBQ is one of the BEST pulled pork experiences I’ve ever had and I’ve been enjoying NC pulled pork for many many years! The collards were fantastic and spot on! Baked beans? Amazing! Ribs? Superb! And very meaty! To round it out? Super duper fried chicken and peach cobbler that was delicious! We will be back and I hope that one day Rick’s could perhaps open a satellite shop near the capital of the state! Thanks again!

Awesome gem in Oriental! They certainly know how to do BBQ! Very nice ....Rick is as genuine as you get!

First time there. Was on a motorcycle ride with my wife and saw his signs on the roadside. This guy has a sense of humor.
Anyway, had a fantastic brisket sandwich,
Cole slaw and potato wedges, my wife had the chicken tenders, made to order so they were hot when she got them. Not cooked hours earlier and stuck under a heat lamp. Everything was fantastic! The owner Mr Rick came out and said hi and enjoyed his company for a few minutes. The staff was friendly and personable. We will definitely hit this place again next time we are in Oriental!

We had the pulled pork, fried chicken, ribs, brisket sandwich, mac n cheese, slaw and collard greens. Everything was awesome! Yes, Rick can do brisket. Having lived in Texas for 5 years, I've had my share of brisket, and Rick's is very good. Service was fast and friendly. I'll be eating at Rick's every time I'm in the area!

Best BBQ in ENC...one of the only places to get tender pull apart brisket. Great staff.
