The Authentic lamb Sheppards pie reminded me of my time in Germany! The sirloin is super tender and juicy even fully cooked. They make their own steak sauce to go with the steak🥹!! We will be coming back again and again! If the check said $100 I’d pay it smiling😁

Short version: everything was great and we were very happy with the meal.

Long version: we were looking for a place for a late dinner. Not many options. We were skeptical because of only having 22 reviews and had low expectations. Everything exceeded expectations. Shrimp and grits were delicious. Cocktails were on point. Cookie skillet was darn good.

Atmosphere is a little high brow as it is inside a nice hotel. Some folks in there seemed like the type that would complain about anything no matter the circumstances. So take negative reviews with a grain of salt.

I’d recommend dinner here and would be happy to go back!

Everything was great: food, drinks, service and desert. Pretty fancy place. Had a few apps, entrees, drinks, and the cookie skillet for dessert. We were happy with all of it.
An old bat at another table was mad about her steak, but she seemed the type to complain about everything. I'm sure they see that a lot.
Happy we stopped in. I'll be back. Definitely a place to eat if you're in the area.

Great drinks, food, and service. Enjoyed getting to know the food/drink director confident in his own menu to be able to recommend menu items at other area restaurants. Looking forward to my next visit here!

Well, 9 of our Thirsty Thursday crew met up on Friday night at the Shakerag Restaurant in the Sewanee Inn. First off the decor there is worth the trip even if you don't eat there, but we did! Usually it's hard to get seating for 9 folks but we were accommodated as soon as we arrived. The host, servers and manager waisted no time getting everything ready and we were seated.
Waiting on one couple we ordered drinks and they were out in a flash. Great selection and very well made! We visited and had a great time and got our orders in when the couple arrived.
The menu selection was great and everyone seemed to get something different. Appetizers of Pork Belly, Brussel Sprouts and Sweet Potato Fries were ordered and were excellent. All of the entrees were fantastic and everyone loved their orders. Our server was awesome and the manager came, checked on us and we all gave him a "big" thumbs up!!
This is a definite "do again" place whether it's the group, couple or single!!

We ate the new breakfast menu with our favorite Sewanee Professor this weekend. The omlet was five stars, the buttermilk pancakes were delicious! Big fan of this breakfast initiative!!

I have been coming here for years, the past two nights have been absolutely delightful. My wife and I come in at least once a month. Over the last year service and food have been ok, but the last two nights have truly blown us away. We met Brent, the new manager, and he was so personable and brought such a genuine passion for this place that made the experience that much better! Thank you all and Brent For the top notch service and experience!

We had booked our honeymoon dinner reservation a week in advance at High Point restaurant. When the day finally got here, we arrived early for our reservation only to find the place closed for the next week. We were devastated. Luckily, the Sewanee Inn was near by with the Shakerag restaurant still open for just over another hour and they saved our whole night!
The place is beautiful, the service excellent, and the food delicious. We looked up prices right there at the table to come back for an actual stay at the Inn on our next visit to the area. Special shout out to Taylor, who was our server! She was attentive, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. She's exactly who you want to represent your business. Thank you for saving our night! We will be back!

Friendly staff and good food! I am not one to like Brussel Sprouts but they have a dish here that I couldn't stop picking at! The first place we ate upon our arrival in Sewanee and it won't be our last visit either.

Excellent meal! Delicious food and wine with attentive service. Nice atmosphere. A definite must while visiting Sewanee!

Last week we enjoyed an excellent dinner, chatted with the new manager and left well fed and planning to return soon.
