My son, daughter, and I have been working our way through the rigorous training at VX for the past 16 months. The training reaches far beyond improving our firearm skills. The three of us have experienced dramatic improvements with our communication, cognitive processing, daily attitude, and shooting ability. The instruction is clear, concise, and presented in a professional manner. Mindset is a word used often at VX. I believe it to be the foundation of the VX training. The three of us strive to implement a strong and concise mindset throughout our daily routine. It's often a challenge, and success has not outnumbered failure. We utilize our training daily, learn from our mistakes, and improve. Thank you VX for the tremendous value you have added to each of our lives. We can't wait to impress you and celebrate our success that you will help us achieve.

I cannot speak highly enough of Mr. Sanderford and the VX team.

The training, guidance, and grit that I have been a part of at VX is something that I would recommended to anyone looking to grow their training and mindset.

VX provides more than just tactical and fundamental training. They focus on mindset, which to me, this was the most valuable part of the training process at VX.

I have recently started training at VX Marksmanship. I have taken 3 carbine classes, 3 pistol classes, and a precision rifle class. Dan and his staff are extremely professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. The program focuses on the mindset necessary to become a top tier shooter, and practices the techniques that Dan has learned and honed over a very long career. He only focused on what works in the real world and these classes gave me the ability and confidence to survive real world encounters. Marksmanship was stressed heavily at all times and Dan was constantly pushing the other students and I to perform at the top of our game. There were a wide variety of shooting experience levels in the beginner classes and he was able to teach to all levels, in a way that kept the more experienced shooters challenged without losing the less experienced ones. The shooting skills that they were teaching were applicable in any survival situation. The experience that Dan and the staff have, and the skills that they pass on to students, is better than anywhere else I have been. The staff were very flexible to my schedule and the needs that I had in my goal to become a top tier shooter.

5 stars doesn't do VX Marksmanship justice - and if you are lucky enough to be even remotely within driving distance, you owe it to yourself to take advantage of the training offered here. It is a unique opportunity that anyone hungry for world class firearm instruction should take advantage of. Whether you are starting as a rookie or a seasoned professional, VX focuses on building your mindset, maturity, grit, and weapon handling capabilities that you must have to prepare for what you're training for -- a gunfight - if you need to defend yourself, your family, or others in a life or death situation.

Taking courses as a prospect to build rock solid fundamentals is excellent and where I started as a novice. If you perform, demonstrate grit, professionalism, and the ability to develop your learning curve and are offered the opportunity for membership and train under Dan Sanderford's leadership, you will have a truly unique experience you won't find anywhere else. Training under Dan as a member has allowed me to rapidly improve my ability to remain calm under stress, accelerate my information processing ability, improve my situational awareness, and build the fundamentals needed to interoperate across all weapons platforms (pistol, carbine, precision rifle) in extremely dynamic environments. You won't find this anywhere else.

Training at VX Marksmanship with Dan brings with it significant accountability. Much is given and much is expected. The high standards, consummate professionalism, having a learner's mindset (you have never arrived) has improved my abilities beyond my expectations. Being able to stay cool under stress, improving information processing, and having an intense focus on the 'why behind the what' of what you're doing has positively impacted me in multiple areas outside training both personally and professionally. Couldn't thank Dan and his team enough for the program they've built and allowed me to take advantage of.

I found VX Marksmanship while searching for a place to learn how to properly use a firearm. After reading the reviews it was evident that this was a great place to start my training.

Day 1 into my 4 class tactical pistol class I knew I was in the right place. With a strong emphasis on mindset, fundamentals, continuous learning and feedback the coaches/instructors are always pushing you to learn through understanding. The environment is challenging but very conducive to learning.

I've learned so much in the few classes I've been through so far. Things I've never even considered thinking of.

I'm looking forward to continuing to push my comfort zone and learn a lot more in pistol, carbine and precision rifle.

Grateful for the opportunity! Highly recommended!!

I highly recommend VX to anyone that is looking to learn how to handle a firearm with calm confidence. The trainers at VX push you, but they are focused on teaching you based on where you are at, and ensuring you know what you are doing as you continue to progress.

VX emphasizes mindset and marksmanship and the trainers thoroughly teach you how to handle your firearm under various scenarios. Learning the fundamentals, and then building onto those fundamentals with each additional lesson, you gain confidence as you continue to grow. The trainers at VX are patient and firm… they show respect for the reality of the situation and maintain professionalism and discipline in all they do and teach you to do.

I just completed a 2-day Precision Rifle course with Dan and couldn’t be happier with the results and couldn’t more highly recommend Dan and VX Marksmanship. We started with classroom instruction where the fundamentals of precision shooting were taught then followed-up with outstanding range instruction. As a former infantry guy (20-years ago), I can say that Dan’s background as a USMC Scout Sniper instructor were impressive and he did not disappoint. Dan is tough but fair and holds his students to very high standards, and by the end of the course I and the other students were consistently hitting targets out to 500 yards (if I held up my end of the log with proper dope and attention to fundamental details). I will be looking for much more instruction from VX Marksmanship and will be looking to Dan to not only take my precision rifle shooting to the next level(s) but my pistol and carbine as well.

My training experiences at VX Marksmanship have been excellent. My initial interest was focused on becoming a more competent, safer and well-rounded shooter. After taking several combat pistol courses, a long range rifle course and a few carbine courses, I can honestly say I've achieved what I sought and then some. Dan's military background, advanced training and combat experiences obviously allows him to excel as an instructor. The outdoor ranges are awesome involving barricades and targets in a 180 degree environment. Beyond that, Dan brings a dynamic teaching style that makes his classes both mentally demanding and physically rigorous. Also, VX Marksmanship has practice events and tournaments to keep acquired skills sharp and tested which is not something I've seen with other training venues. If you want to push your skills to the limit from a guy who's been "down range", I recommend the training classes at VX Marksmanship.

I recently spent several hours in Precision Rifle class with Dan at VX Marksmanship in Alvaredo, Texas. I cannot over-emphasize the quality of the training and the value. Value wise, I was impressed with the amount of training I received in a few hours. Some of the courses have a classroom component, but the learning that goes on during the classroom time is essential to master the firearm you are using.
I originally purchased five classes to take advantage of the benefits Dan offers for multi-class purchases which include a discounted price and access to other training he offers.
VX Marksmanship offers Precision Rifle classes, Pistol classes, Carbine classes and others. Purchasing five or more classes do not bind a student to a single course of study. For example, I intend to use one of my classes for carbine and one for pistol.
Dan is very professional and knowledgeable. Safety is always paramount, and the curriculum is designed to offer increased rigor as a student progresses from class to class. I recommend VX Marksmanship to any shooter, regardless of skill level, who wants to master his or her firearm.

I have trained with VX Marksmanship for the past 6 months. Dan brings his many years of experience with him as he trains others in each respective discipline. I have trained at many other facilities with excellent instructors in the past. Dan's knowledge and desire to teach surpass all others. His tactics and techniques are proven and the most up to date I have seen. His facility is top notch and offers a wide variety of target engagements that can't be found at your typical gun range or many other facilities in the area. Dan's style of instruction is very effective, as it allows anyone with a basic firearms skill set and those who have been around firearms all their life, to learn.

This is THE premier firearms training facility in the country. They develop Marksmanship through the development of “Conceptual Shooters.” This mindset philosophy is unique to special operations personnel. It is not the “muscle memory” trap that the majority of shooters fall into. Here, you will be trained by special operations veterans how to “Survive the Chaos,” of an active shooter scenario, home invasion, self defense, and much, much more. The interweaving of battle tested techniques, but most importantly, proper mindset, is how professional Special Operators succeed in an ever changing and dynamic battlefield. At VX Marksmanship, all these techniques and mindset principles will be taught to you.

This is not a “sign up and your in” type of program however. They are a Private Firearms Academy, technically. Not everyone that is an initial “prospect,” will be approved to continue training. This program is not for everyone, just as special operations isn’t for every service member. If you pass the background check and get approved for “prospect” status, it is on you to prove to the instructors you are worthy of the responsibility of becoming a VX Marksmanship Member. I will forever be in debt to the Patriots that are the VX Marksmanship team.

Ive been training with Dan for the last couple of years, everything from pistol, carbine, and precision rifle. I am completely impressed with the level of professionalism, I have witnessed from Dan, and his other instructors. There is no BS with them, they maintain, a safe, professional training environment, that allows students there to excel. The staff there does this with a great attitude, that I have never seen with other gun ranges and training facilities.

Now for the training. No bones about it, if you want to learn everything there is to know about gun handling and being able to accurately place bullets where you want them under any situation you can think of, this is the place you need to be. the courses are extremely smooth and flowing, and filled with real world knowledge.

I highly recommend VX Marksmanship.

I have been actively training at VX for the past 12 months with a focus on both Carbine and Pistol. Dan and his staff set the standard for professionalism. They treat all of their students with respect and fairness - whether you are an experienced shooter with military background or a civilian who is just beginning. VX is all about mindset and learnings on the range have carry over to every day life. It is a privilege to be able to train at VX Marksmanship. “Respect defeats ego.”

Over the last several years, I have trained at VX Marksmanship in pistol, carbine, and precision rifle. This tactical training was everything I expected and much more. Thanks to the professional instructors at VX, I have experienced substantial growth as a marksman, family man, and leader.

The instructors at VX Marksmanship, thanks to Dan Sanderford (chief instructor/owner), instill a sense of pride and create an atmosphere where one’s will to perform or achieve “greater than before” comes to the surface in all things! Under the leadership of Dan and Charles, expect to be taken to your limits, both physically and mentally. Dan’s unwavering commitment to keep one in “the fight” as long as possible demands this style of training.

Don’t expect to be coddled; this is tactical training! Dan and Charles are no-nonsense instructors with real world experience. They will require one to act professionally and with integrity. Expect the same in return. Know that the lessons learned on the range will carry over to one’s family and work life. Rest assured that VX Marksmanship provides world class instruction at a world class facility.

I started training with VX Marksmanship less than a year ago. At the time, I was already somewhat accomplished as a competition shooter. To say that what I learned from VX improved my shooting would be an understatement. I now train there regularly (approximately 2 classes a month) am continue to be amazed at how much my shooting had improved. I strongly endorse VX Marksmanship and would encourage anyone interested in improving their shooting to schedule some classes.

When I found VX, I had no prior rifle experience. Literally never fired a rifle heavier than a .22. Contacted VX about precision rifle and liked what I heard.

I've been training for about 10 months as I write this, and I've come to realize what a gem I stumbled across by starting with VX when I was a complete newbie seeking a school. In particular, I've had the opportunity to observe several other facilities precision rifle courses and therefore to see the much higher quality of training I'm receiving at VX.

I've learned fundamentals that make me crave more training and more experience. I've learned advanced techniques through a variety of experiences at VX. I've participated in training, practice, and friendly competitions that expand my knowledge and skill. I've even been to a few of the gatherings out at VX, where a bonfire and a beer (AFTER the shooting is done for the day) become the program.

These folks are serious. They hold themselves and their students to a higher standard than I've seen anywhere else. At the same time, they adapt to my 58 year old office-job fitness level, along with clients (students) older, younger, fitter, and fatter than me! They do an outstanding job of pushing each person to achieve their capabilities, without over-pushing.

In case you can't tell: Yes, I'd recommend VX for your firearms training needs.

You won't know how much you need to know about handling and carrying a firearm until you train at VX Marksmanship. After more than 100 hours of shooting range practice and a few day or weekend courses at other facilities, as well as getting my CHL, I thought I knew a lot about carrying and using a gun. Still, I felt uncomfortable. Luckily, I found VX Marksmanship last year and the instructors there have taken my skills and confidence to a new level with their emphasis on muscle memory and fundamentals, and their multi-level course curriculum. I still have a long way to go, but I know I am in the right place to learn the right way and the safe way.

This place is amazing. I received a new pistol for graduation back in May and wanted to make sure I knew how to use it effectively and safely... I went from not even knowing what a double action was to having a different range show interest in hiring me as a shooting instructor after seeing videos of my training online - from about 4-6 months of training only. I can't give enough praise to this place. The range is incredible and offers unique training opportunities that indoor ranges cannot. I've trained with Dan for each of my courses - he rocks. If it wasn't for Dan and VX I would still be clueless about my own pistol, double action? What's that?

Recently I took 4 Pistol courses from the first level up to level 4. Man was this a great experience!! The staff and instructors were excellent and knowledgable. I plan on going back to do more pistol training, carbine and shotgun as well. I live 12 hours (driving) from VX marksmanship and they are worth the drive for me to go down there again. I plan on at least one to two trips a year for continuing training. This is a ONE stop shop for training from pistol to rifle. I you want a great experience and learn from instructors with (as my daughter would say) 'MAD SKILLS" and the ability to teach those skills to their students, then this is the place. None better bar none!! Can't recommend these guys enough!!!

I have been going to VX for over six months now. I originally went to get the knowledge necessary for long range shooting to become a more proficient hunter. Now, I continue to go because of the complete range of knowledge available there, from pistol (for self defense) to carbine (for self defense and sport shooting/hunting) to long range (for hunting) to tactical (for all of the aforementioned). I learned so much in just the first few courses, that one day I went to the range and I walked into a military rifle competition. I figured what the heck, I had never participated in a rifle competition, at least it would be a learning experience. It was because of the fundamentals I received at VX I walked out of there in 3rd out of about 20 (and a Cabelas gift card- not too shabby!). The instructors at VX are extremely friendly, excellent teachers and hold high standards, ESPECIALLY for safety. The things we get to learn there ARE (not "can be") life saving, and therefor extra emphasis is placed on professionalism and safety, in handling yourself and your firearm. I would highly recommend VX for anyone who is just beginning as a shooter to the ones who feel they are advanced. I thought I was quite a proficient shooter until I realized how much more there is to shooting...
