Daufuskie Marsh Tacky Society

These special horses are worth a visit! It's an easy stop near the ferry. Caretaker was welcoming and knowledgeable. She described the breed's rich history and gave us time to get to know each animal. Louie the stallion was especially endearing with his rockstar mane and his interest in human connection. Fuego, the newborn foal, was becoming brave and inquisitive. They are expecting 2 more foals this fall! Great to see this organization thriving.

We had a great experience! My two kiddos had an impromptu riding lesson while on vacation at Daufuskie and loved it. Our instructor was super sweet and informative and the horses were wonderful.

Fulfilled a lifelong bucket list item by riding a horse on a beach. Erica was great to work with. Finn (horse) was a gentle friend.

Such a cool experience riding these native Marsh Tacky's! We couldn't ride on the beach very much due to turtle season but it was fun riding through the beaches "woods". Our trail guide was fun and let us use our riding skills a few times as we cantered and trail blazed along. Great ride and horses for a beginner or an expert!

Loved spending time with the horses. Owners husband was very friendly and horses were well cared for!

My 12 yr old son and I rode with Erica yesterday and it was the highlight of his trip! Erica is such a great guide, knows the history of the horse breed and the island, and was such a fun person to be around. The horses are so well-behaved and truly beautiful. We will definitely be looking to come back in the fall to ride on the beach-thanks so much, Erica!

Best island to adventure and relax. Have a blast in seclusion and the atmosphere is amazing here. Chill out at the couple of hangouts and have great conversation with the locals. One you spend a day here you will want to come back if you want a since of adventure and like island history.

Good music. Very good environment. Not a fan of fast food but they have excellent crab cakes. Only inconvenience, the kitchen is small for the high demand.

Add a star for being picturesque. Bare minimum when we were there (2/2017). Island was.hard hit by Hurricane Matthew.
