The Original Mels Diner

Great traditional American diner that serves hearty diner fare. This particular branch is a great one as they have their great customer service and high food quality down pat. I always tend to go for my usual diner classic of chicken fried steak, but you can't go wrong with their other diner options such as chicken and waffles.

Our server, Yessi, was probably the best server we have ever had. She was so accommodating and sweet, she made us feel special and welcome. Yessi, thanks for the great work you do! We appreciate you!

This place is awesome, gives you a nostalgic vibe. I wish they have one in Las Vegas. We came here for bf during our short vacay in Fairfield. Food taste great, can't compare to other bf places.

Today my family and I went there for lunch and not only was Jesus a friendly and welcoming server but the food was amazingly delicious. The entire restaurant was clean and neat, even the bathroom. Great job to the cook who cooked my ribeye steak exactly the way I wanted which was medium rare. Thank you guys for an awesome experience today.

Man this place is a gem! A true classic American Diner! If you are ever by Fairfield this is a must stop and eat at place!

I love Mel's dinner, whenever I ina town and happen to see a Méls... I know I'll be eating there at least once before leaving. Most likely breakfast. I love their country scramble and their hash browns are always cooked to perfection.
I've never been to a Méls and had anything but exceptional service. They take care of you. They wait staff are very attentive to their tables when the food comes out It's hot or cold based on what it is,but it's always good. When I'm traveling I usually get food to go. But if There's a Mel's in town I don't hesitate to belly up to the bar. There are always friendly people to strike up a conversation with so you won't be eating alone. Over the years I've shared a few tables with some pretty amazing people I met at Mel's.
If you see one, stop in and get yourself a plate, you will be happy you did....

I am not a regular at this restaurant (passing through on our way back to Oklahoma City) and I ordered the Eggs Benedict with ham, hash browns with an extra side of hollandaise sauce. I always like ordering the Benedict because it’s tests the cooks on how well they can cook poached eggs. Our cook today was, Yenis, and this individual did not disappoint. It was a delicious treat to enjoy perfect poached eggs. Great job and thank you for making my breakfast so memorable.

Great chocolate shake! The big bopper was great! We split an order of rings, and I ate the leftovers for dinner. Lots of food, great service, I highly recommend this place.

I rarely, if ever review eateries, yet my exceptional experience while I was there has given me no option. Five, maybe even ten out of five stars any day. This Diner’s exceptional quality surpasses any others I’ve ever encountered, and I’m obliged to share how it improved my week.
When you pull up, at first glance Mel’s Diner already catches the eye, often allowing ample space to park if you go early in the day when there are few cars. Walking through the front door, the first thing you’ll notice is the 50’s style of tables and decoration and the cheerful atmosphere. Right in front of you is a well preserved and ornamented jukebox. The hanging strands of soft lights and the model planes hanging from the ceiling will cause you to realize you’re at the right place to relax and have a great time. Even though I was born half a century later, the décor causes feelings of nostalgia I didn’t know I had. The customer service is above and beyond, for when I entered I had little time to take in the scene before we were immediately greeted and seated by a bubbly waitress.
The best part was definitely the ambience. Mel’s Diner is styled after the years 1945-1955, with signed portraits of famous folk back in the day like Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and James Dean. There are portraits of sweet cars that plaster the walls. The quantity of pictures and everything else to look at is almost overwhelming yet the large windows balance everything perfectly. They have these mini jukeboxes at each table which contain over a hundred songs in it that you can flip through! Because some of the jukeboxes didn’t work, our waitress was awesome and took our song requests when she went back to our table to check on us, and I was able to vibe to “I Get Around” by the Beach Boys. How many other establishments can you go to where you can request music to play overhead, and they’ll actually do it? And that’s before we even ordered! Our waitress was exceptional, authentic, and aware of any potential needs we might have.
We were soon offered a choice of drinks by her, which were promptly brought out. The root beer freeze I ordered was beyond description, and scooping the foam from the bottom of the extra metal cup they gave in addition to the glass has forever changed my opinion of ordinary root-beer floats. The menu offers a wide variety, serving almost every kind of American food.
We didn’t wait longer than ten minutes before our food was set before us in generous portions, fresh and warm along with a refill on drinks. The juicy burger I ordered was superb, the ingredients complementing each other in a way that cheap fast food can never hope to replicate. McDonald’s better watch out! The mashed potatoes on the side were excellent as well, although the fries were a little too garlicky. Based on the uplifted conversations of others around me I can only assume that everyone in the diner felt likewise, enjoying such splendor.
When the bill came, I will admit that it was a bit pricey. The cost nearly caused my wallet to cry. But when I look back and consider the time I had, it was truly worth every penny. But when I compare it to other establishments such as Dennys or Blackbear Diner there is an easy choice for which to choose. Takeout was just another one of its perks. We left, already looking forward to the next time we would visit before we had even exited.
I’m not paid to advertise. I just want to share the joy I experienced when I went to Mel’s Diner. There is good, better, and best, and Mel’s Diner is one of the best.

Mel’s Diner is All-American restaurant decorated in bright neon and multiple colorful signs. There are lots of 1950’s related vehicle signs etc. There are lots of license plates and there is a small coin-operated jukebox at each table. There is a large jukebox at the front of the diner. They have very friendly waitresses and waiters. Today we went for breakfast and Desi was our waitress. She was very cheerful and peppy but not phony. She was a delight and was very attentive to our potential needs. I’d love to have her serve us any day at any time. They have handicapped parking and most of the tables are booths but for my wheelchair there was a table that had ½ booth and ½ open for a chair or wheelchair. It was ideal. They have nice plastic menus and almost endless food options. Any kind of American food you want will be there. They have a soda fountain that I’m eager to try but not at 7:00 A.M.! The food is moderately priced. Our meals were outstanding. Our food arrived very rapidly and the temperature was perfect. The restaurant is clean and new and is an excellent place to eat. They have fun neon signs on the walls and there is plenty to look at. I loved the personalized Mel’s Fairfield signs. I highly recommend Mel’s Diner.

Had to go out to the inbound warehouse out at Travis with my pal Ret. Col. Blistis Packerback to pick up the Static Volcker Rails for the turrets I had shipped in from Joint Base Headstart in Malaysia, and spyed The Original Mels Diner and thought it would be a great place to eat. It was, the food was amazing as well as the service, 5 stars all the way. ☆☆☆☆☆

Great place if you want a ton of food for your money and live the American culture of the 60s. I may live in Germany now but what a great place to come back and feel like home

Great American dinner food. Prompt service, reasonable prices, and pretty tasty food. My wife says Mel's has the best cornbread she has ever had.

I had a good experience there. The food was very good. The service was also really good. I really recomend to eat here. For both the food and service was good. I didn't have a long wait time when I got there.

The California Omelet was Excellent!
I didn't want to stop eating to take a photo... I liked the coffee too, no sugar or cream needed. My wife said the oatmeal was real good as well. Oh, and they have Cholula sauce...

Brought my wife and kids here. They really liked the atmosphere and theme of the restaurant. I'm glad they finally put a Mels in town. The food was good and my kids enjoyed the kids meals they had. It was a lot of food in general.

Classic 50s style dinner atmosphere inside.. Great place filled with nostalgia with older movies, actors and actresses. Classic music with small juke boxes at the tables. My waitress was awesome. Food and portions were excellent.
