The food was great. Charro beans were fire, and we didn't have to wait too long the service was and attentive felt cozy pastor tacos were delicious waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and specials according to the seafood we killed three baskets and Salsa and we might just come back for the chips and salsa

They just took over the reef it a Mexican cantina a nice Buffett with a variety of authentic Mexican food salad bar a nice place to come relax and have a few drinks there's not another Mexican buffet around Texas city except lamarque to come join me and enjoy a meal

This place is fantastic!! I had the seafood enchiladas, and they were beyond excellent!!! The service was very good and the atmosphere was warming and pleasant. I will be back!!! Good prices and drinks too!!!

The place is hidden in the back and doesn't look like much on the outside. However the food here is delicious and fresh. There was a small wait to receive our food but it was worth it. Love it! Definitely coming back and recommending it to all my friends and family!

The Cajun catfish was delicious, not over seasoned, perfect temperature. The shrimp quesadilla was good needed salsa instead of guacamole. Still good. Nice atmosphere. Not noisy.

I liked the freshness the timing and the waitreses were very kind and attentive the buffet looks great I would go back and eat there

Traveling thru the Gulf Coast we wanted to try authentic seafood from Texas, and we found it. Nicely decorated, the waitress welcomed us with fried corn bread , we ordered catfish, salmon salads, shrimp brushettas and chicken wrapped in bacon. Everything was so tasty and well cooked. A sure stop on our next visit. Good job

The Reef is now owned by the folks who own the very good Casa Fiesta across Palmer!
This means 2 things; Seafood at The Reef IS NOW as great, as consistent as Casa Fiesta - the opposite of what The Reef had deteriorated to under former ownership AND...
Texas City will now have a GOOD Seafood House again!!
It's been a loooong time.
All the old dusty clutter is gone, the dining room bright and clean!
Our dinner, from their now-simpler menu was delicious!! Fresh fish, shrimp and oysters, homemade onion rings and very good service!

I've heard through the grapevine that Friday February 28th is going to be their lay say open before closing the doors after 40 years in business. I hate to see them go. I've heard Las Brisas is going to open in the building.

Absolutely one of the best places to eat in town. They are under new management and the service, food and atmosphere are top notch. The owner greets you, you won't be disappointed. Best lunch buffet in town

Very good variety of side choices hushpuppies, cole slaw and sweet green tomatoes. 2 people can eat well!

Had a chance to eat dinner here the other night. The food was awesome. The renovation looks great.

I ordered the fish and shrimp for lent and it was fresh and tasted real good. I will be back to dine in next time.

I was very pleasantly surprised when a friend and I stopped at the Reef. Not that I expected not good food. But I didn't expect the level of flavors and friendly service we received. Too many times I go to restaurants and the foods just..good. Seldom do I find an establishment where from the first bite, I know they is going to serve a very good meal worthy of traveling a distance for. From the table served hush puppies to the main dish, the whole meal was flavored to perfection in a very warm and almost family atmosphere. I will now put the Reef on my list of must do stops and my place to take out of town guests. Very well done.

Food was excellent and the waitress was very attentive. The appetizer of fried mushrooms was great, large and cooked to perfection. Everything on the combo fish, shrimp, onion rings and fries were delicious. If it happened for me, chances are it will happen to you.

Just picked up two seafood trays for my team at work. Food was hot and tasted great. Service was fantastic!

I hadn't been back to the Reef since the new owner took over. I was a bit disappointed that all the old decorations were gone, so the place had lost some of its charm. But no one goes to a restaurant for the decor, they go for the food. I got an order of the fried catfish, fries, cajun rice, and rhe hush puppies. Everything was fantastic! The fish was crisp on the outside, flaky on the inside, and had good flavoring. Fries were the same way. The hush puppies weren't bad, just different. Much more sweet with a light corn flavor. I ordered the "small," which turned out to be huuuuuge portions. I really enjoyed the meal (and having some left over for dinner).

I never leave reviews, but I have to this time. I tried Chipotle shrimp or Camarones a la diabla and they were perfection! Best chipotle plate I have ever had in my life (besides my family’s dishes). I also tried the catfish and chicken fingers and they were great, they had a light layer/batter and not too greasy. They do have limited hours but it’s worth it. We had great service as well!

The food was very delicious. The fries were perfect and the seasoning was super yummy. The seafood dish we got was excellent. It took a little wait to get our food, but it was worth the wait. The waitress was also very sweet and helpful. I definitely recommend The Reef Seafood House!
