Monte Alban Restaurant

Went there Sunday afternoon w/ a party of 6& were seated immediately! Out waiter was friendly even joking around w/ us as well. Service was the best ever! We had margaritas 🍹 fantastic! The food is out of this world, good!! Their fried iced cream- wow! Then the cheesecake wrap w/ iced cream & sprinkles, fantastic! We'll be back bc my sister lives in Hiawassee! Big parking lot, 3 handicapped parking spaces up front( other lot on the side). Homemade chips from what I could tell. Over all a great place whether eating alone, w/ friends, or as a family! Can't beat the service! Nope, just cant!

This was my first time eating here. The entrance could have sone needed attention. The place was clean . I was with my son-in-law. We were well welcomed. The food was served hot and delicious. The waiter stopped by several times asking if thing were ok.

Definitely worth stopping if you are craving Mexican cuisine. The service was top notch as well as the food.

Awesome local Mexican joint! Great food with the classics but also some unique dishes you don't see very often. Juan was a very friendly, warm guy. I'll be back just for him alone!

Got there around 5:30 on a Saturday night.. quick service.. I let the server pick one of the 2 choices I came up with and let's just say it was delicious... LoL

Mexican food is one of my go-to meals. My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Monte Alban. There was reminiscing about the mezcal we drank in our youth that bears the same name...and a worm.

I absolutley love coastal Mexican cuisine. I got the Vallarta Especial and my wife got the Diabla tacos.

Both were fantastic but the Diabla sauce was amazing!

The atmosphere is really cool. The tables have murals on them and the chairs are carved with agave plants.

There is outdoor seating but it's early April so still a little chilly to be sitting outside.

The food is really good over here. Also the prices & good service. We never had a bad experience. But to have aquarate times just call ahead.

This place is a hidden gem, and I’m so happy to have found it as a tourist. I am from Mexico and this place had some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in the US. The menu also has some stuff that appeals to Americans like the ground beef hard tortilla stuff, but they also have authentic food & tacos. The tacos are DELICIOUS, so are the flautas, the guacamole and the chicken soup (that’s all we could try in the 1st visit). Everything was fresh and flavorful. The flan is AUTHENTIC and home-made. We initially ordered one flan and then we ended up having three. The place is CLEAN, they respect SOCIAL DISTANCING, and it is well ventilated. The chairs are artesanal and good quality. The staff and the waiter were very nice and friendly. Our waiter even recommended a beautiful spot to go walk in North Carolina and see the lake. If I’m ever around this area again I’ll definitely be back.

Quick service with delicious food. I enjoyed the Al Pastor tacos.

reliably good food and plenty of it. their guacamole is super. service is always excellent. good variety on the menu. kid-friendly, too. you can't go wrong here. decent amount of parking in lot.

Felt immediately welcome upon entering ~ friendly staff, Noah was very attentive. Food was fabulous and the whole staff lined up as we left to say thank you kindly and I hope you enjoy your time in Hiwassee, at ease, relaxed....

It's all good. I've never had a bad experience here. Thursday has reduced price margaritas. They're great every day in frozen glasses. The quesadilla mucho grande is a huge and tasty meal; my favorite meal that usually is also my next day's lunch.

While out browsing and enjoying the area we came back to have lunch. So happy we did. I ordered the lunch fajitas (cowboy) and he ordered the lunch chimichanga. Perfect plate size and quite enough food. There was no way I could eat everything! The cowboy fajitas was a fabulous mix of chicken, beef and shrimp, with the shrimp being plentiful and pleasantly sized large. Definitely worth the stop to eat! Loved the decor as well.
