1770 House Restaurant & Inn

I very much enjoyed my stay including dinner in the Tavern. The Inn and room were beautiful. The breakfast was perfect. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The location is great - walk to town. Very impressed by the attention to every detail.

We stayed nearby and went to 1770 for dinner. It was a fantastic experience from the moment we walked in until we left. We were greeted warmly and decided to sit in the living room for a cocktail. It was so relaxing and the music playlist was great. Then we went into the dining room and had an excellent dinner. The service and every bite was spot on. It is was totally worth it. Here are some pictures of the blood orange tuna crudo and Scottish salmon. It could not have been a more pleasurable experience!

Fabulous food and service! Attentive staff and delicious food. I had the scallops, pork chop, and date cake. Highly recommend all.

An absolute gem! We visited with friends who stayed here and treated them to dinner. We would have hosted them, but they surprised us during high season. They gave high praise for their comfortable & clean rooms, and our meal together was fantastic. It's a small, but thoughtfully curated menu. We had only been here once or twice before, but we've never left hungry or disappointed.

This review is for the hotel and restaurant which are both exquisite. First the restaurant - my family went to dinner in the dining room this past week and had a lovely meal. This was my third time dining here - first two with my husband and the third time with my husband and two kids. Admittedly, I was hesitant to bring my kids, ages 8 and 6, here due to the menu being too sophisticated, but 1770 House was so accommodating and was able to bring them more simple fare from the Tavern downstairs. My 8 year old ended up having to leave the table early with my husband due to not feeling well, but the staff was just so nice with offering to keep his meal warm and boxing it up even after it had been served. Shout out to Carol who was so unbelievably nice to offer to drive my other child and me back to our hotel while we were waiting. That offer was just above and beyond and represents the extraordinary customer service here.

After our recent restaurant experience, I realized I had never written a review for the hotel. I have stayed here twice with my husband, most recently in October 2020 in Room One (so lovely!). The Inn is very charming with a beautiful garden out back that also offers outdoor dining in warmer weather. The location is very convenient to downtown East Hampton, about a 10 minute walk. Can’t say enough about how much we love this place and the amazing breakfasts that are included with the stay. Randye, the other manager, was so helpful both times we stayed with coordinating activities and making reservations. We love this hotel so much and look forward to staying here again soon!

This review is for the restaurant exclusively. Truly enjoyed the atmosphere on a rainy evening, the fire was going and it felt so cozy. Very New England homey type vibes. The menu is a pre fixe here but you do have choices so you can choose your appetizer, entrée and dessert. Waitstaff was professional and friendly. The food was wonderfully delicious! Prepared perfectly and plated beautifully. I will absolutely be returning to this gem.

My husband and I stayed here for our mini honeymoon the weekend of our wedding, we will most definitely be staying here again! The front desk staff was very nice, very accommodating and a pleasure to work with while making our room reservations. Our room was quiet, well put together and extremely clean! We had a beautiful view of a water fountain and two steps out of our door was the main house and restaurant. We ate inside the restaurant for dinner; the food, wine and service was excellent! In the morning the restaurant serves a nice breakfast spread. We scheduled a wine tour and the front desk called our room to notify us when our limo arrived and wished us a fun day. I will be telling our family and friends to come here as well.

The food, cocktails, atmosphere and customer service were all too notch!! I had the sea scallops, and they were exquisite! We tried four desserts at my table — the pistachio creme brûlée, date cake, almond spice cake and chocolate cheesecake — not one of them disappointed!!

Had a delicious dinner here with friends in the Tavern downstairs a few weeks ago. Love the atmosphere there with the low lighting and secret prohibition type aura. I always request to be seated in the Tavern if available. Dinner was divine and the sticky date cake was the cherry on top for dessert. Excellent Manhattans as well. A pleasure!

We had an excellent birthday dinner at the 1770 House restaurant. My wife had the bisque, I had the fluke tartare and we both had the salmon, all perfectly prepared and presented. This is a good choice for a special occasion.

This place was absolutely amazing. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect.
My husband got the asparagus salad, pork loin, Banana and chocolate chip financier. I got the fois gras, rabbit pasta and ricotta cheesecake. Loved everything 👌

The most wonderful place! The only thing more devine than the rooms, lovely staff, and setting is the stunningly outrageously good food at the restaurant. Can't wait to come back!

Outstanding service. High end but very comfortable. One of the best cheeseburgers I have ever had. I'm not sure why but you know how good, fresh food makes you smile? This burger and this place have it. They just got it. Truffle fries too!

Group dinner here with a baby too. They were extremely accommodating and the food and service was A+. Everything good, but Meatloaf was super good.

1770 is probably one of my favorite restaurants in the Hamptons for a great meal. It offers a romantic atmosphere and excellent service. 1770 is perfect for a special occasion, or just a simple dinner with friends. Everything on the menu is delicious and beautifully presented. The freshly baked Rosemary rolls are a real treat! The Tavern downstairs has a laid back atmosphere, a lighter menu, and often has dinner and drink specials.

It was amazing!! Started out with oysters. Mignonette was the best I have ever had. Next was beef tartar which was out out of this world. Last course was swordfish. It was absolutely perfect. Slight crisp on outside, cauliflower, artichokes and almond dukkah. We closed out with a slice of date cake. Never had it before. Loved it. I also had the Puligny Montrachet, which perfectly complemented everything I ate. One of the absolute best meals and dining experiences I have ever had!! Waiter was funny and did a great job. There were 5 tables in the secluded courtyard. 4 of 5 were couples celebrating anniversaries. We truly enjoyed our 25th anniversary and is one I will never forget!! We became part of the June 8th club at 1770 house as one of the other couples called it.

We grabbed drinks and an app down in the tavern. This tavern used to be a speak easy and it still has that feeling of being hidden away. A narrow set of creaky stairs brings you to this dimly lit room, it is cozy and quite nice. They have an extensive wine list and the food is incredible.

Had dinner last night downstairs in the cozy warm Tavern Room. The fire was going and it was so toasty warm. Candles on all tables such a nice feeling. Once again the food was excellent, the meatloaf always consistant and yummy, the tavern burger the best out east here. Now is the time to go here.
