I have been here several times now. The food is always delicious. The service is speedy and courteous. The ramen is scrumptious , my favorite is the Tokyo. I could eat the chicken tempura 3 times a day everyday. If you’re of age and like sweet drinks, get the plum wine. Overall 5/5!

I ate here while traveling for work. It was a rough day at the office kind of day, and honestly those times are what beat you down the most. One of my favorite things in the world is a nice fried pork cutlet. It's not terribly fancy , but it always hits the spot . I found this place on Google and said " hey, this day can only go up from here". I stopped by and placed my order, the person that took my order was crazy kind and took my to go order, and told me my wait time. I ordered my pork cutlet and tempura, and waited about ten minutes before it was ready. It actually came out really quick. It smelled great as soon as it was handed to me. I got back to the hotel and started to dig in. Not before long, I found myself in the middle of a flashback to my travels in Japan. It reminded me of the meals I would have in the small towns outside of Osaka or Yokohama, eating my meals in the humdrum sounds of the traffic and trains. One of the few moments , I have ever felt peace in my life. I absolutely surprised this place was empty when I stopped by. The ingredients were fresh, the portions were large, and in my experience a fantastic value for the cost. This place is truly a gem, and should definitely have more love. My meal was awesome, and reminded a weary traveler of a moment of peace.

Outstanding and I'll definitely go back. The Ramen is delicious, pan fried dumplings are also a winner. If you like Green Tea Ice Cream you must try theirs, it is homemade and the best I've ever had. This is a Mom and Pop restaurant and not like the garbage being served at the franchises up and down 29.

Fresh food, amazing service! Calamari is super fresh, the Tokyo Ramen is literally the best in Albemarle County! Will keep coming back again and again!

I was pleasantly surprised by how great the food was here. Our family enjoyed the fried rice, the fermented beef dish (house special) and some udon soup. The citrus hot tea was delightful also. Compliments to the chef!

I work in the shopping center and the hibachi is pretty good but my absolute favorite item on their menu is the iced citrus honey tea! It is amazing tastes like fresh oranges and grapefruit. So refreshing! The fact that they are locally owned and are always pleasant is also a plus for me. Support small businesses peeps!

I was craving a rice dish and was disappointed to see that they did not have sushi on the menu. This was my mistake for not looking at the menu beforehand. I ordered the dipping soba and was not disappointed. My boyfriend ordered the steak bento and said it was far better than his expectations. The environment is calm and quiet. We will definitely be coming again for days we want a quiet place to sit down and eat great food.

The service was wonderful, especially considering my server was also cooking! The bento box for lunch may have been a lofty goal on my part but I certainly left quite satisfied! Great value, quiet venue and will definitely be back again!

I love eating here! It’s always really great. First off, don’t let the store front fool you, the restaurant itself is really cute inside. The staff is always super friendly and prompt. I never feel like the server comes too often or too little and I never feel rushed. Lastly, the food is always great! I usually get the udon noodles stir fried with beef. My little sister likes their hibachi shrimp and my boyfriend likes the bento boxes. I also love the boba tea as they’re one of the few places away from UVA that have it.

I love Kyoto. Everyone there is so very kind. I remember hen my nephew was an incredibly picky eater. They remembered not only his name, but what he liked to eat, and even encouraged him (in a sweet kind of older-relative type way) to expand his culinary horizons. They are wonderful and kind, and could use the support during the pandemic. So go eat at Kyoto!

From out if town needed a quick place to eat.Found unexpected greatness.kids loved the udon soup not on menu but made it for them. Prices were great and service was over the top. Friendly family atmosphere. If we lived in the area we would be here all the time.

As someone who works in the culinary field and has prepared most cuisines, I was quite pleased with Kyoto restaurant. The service was timely and polite. The lady who waited on me and my wife was quick to take our order and did much more like pouring our hot tea and clearing our used dishes as we finished with them. The food was amazing both in flavor and esthetics. My wife had the sweet and sour shrimp was delicious and a very reasonable portion for the price. I had the Kyoto curry, it was a little different in that it wasn't spicy at all and it was thickened with potatoes but it was wounderful very flavorful and aromatic. If you are on the fence about Kyoto go for lunch it is much cheaper and you can try them out before you pay for a big dinner you may not like. I love this restaraunt and will return often.

Best hole-in-the-wall! Hidden but so deserving of praise! Food is delicious, recommend a bento box and the hot fruit tea! Service is great and quick even when busy! Very traditional Japanese! Definitely give it a try!

This is my favorite restaurant in Charlottesville. I think the only explanation for why it's not more crowded is that it's not in a popular area. Everything I've ordered here was delicious and fresh, but I especially love their terriyaki bento boxes. The bento boxes give you a lot of food for a very reasonable price: soup and salad to start, then meat, rice, gyoza, tempura vegetables, seaweed salad, and a slice of pineapple. I highly recommend this place.
