Akira level sushi & ramen

I haven't tried all the sushi places around Charlottesville yet, but so far, Akira is my favorite. The portions are generous, and the food is fresh. The atmosphere is clean and modern. It's definitely a staple for our family.

First. Omakase always. The Staff and Food are unmatched, from food and drink recommendations to the service, awesome and friendly. Always fresh & filling. It's location is a little small but they have a touch sensitive bar top!

Stopped in to give this a try, absolutely worth it!!! We had ramen, sushi and an app. All of it was excellent!! Not cheap quickie food by any means. It is on the pricey side, but worth every cent!! I also very much recommend the fried cheesecake, but I gotta warn you, have someone to help you eat it!! The slice is huge!! We left full and happy, great service here too. Nothing bad to say. Definitely stop in for a bite if your in the area. You won't be disappointed!! Will definitely be going back.

We got the chicken bento box, the Philadelphia roll, and the sweet potato roll. All of it was so flavorful and beautifully presented

My favorite sushi & hibachi in all of Charlottesville. I have eaten here multiple times (both take out and dine in). The fish is always fresh and the staff is always so friendly. Can’t recommend this place enough. SO DELICIOUS!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Akira Level: Sushi and Ramen, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was nothing short of spectacular. We indulged in their sushi and chicken katsu ramen, both of which were delicious and fresh.

For Charlottesville, this is some of the best sushi we could find! They must have been understaffed when we went since the service was slow (but really kind!). The ramen is ok but the rolls are very good! Not too much rice, rice is the right texture (not too dry or too wet), well rolled, good fish, lots of options and unique rolls! The best option for sushi outside of downtown. The Dynamite Roll was the best.

Their food is tasty! Seeing the ratings, I was skeptical about the food at first, but I am glad that I gave it a try. I ordered steamed shumai and seafood Ramen. Both the item were great!

We have been wishing for a really good sushi place for years. Well Cville, they have finally arrived!
I ordered seaweed salad, sashimi tuna and yellow fin and a mind bender roll. It was fresh, the sashimi were nicely portioned. The wait staff were very nice and attentive. i’m already planning my next visit. :)

My partner and I just tried this spot on a whim this evening. We were both craving ramen and sushi but didn’t want to drive too far.

There were only three reviews when we made the decision to swing by so, admittedly, I was skeptical. However, we were both pleasantly surprised! We ordered the spicy miso ramen, an order of salmon sushi, and wonton soup. All three items exceeded our expectations and we plan to return!

Side note: The person who took our order (at the register because they don’t have servers yet) said they opened just a week and a half ago. Everything is served in takeaway containers — but I’m guessing that’s due to a lack of staff. Honestly, there are so few places in this town that serve quality Japanese cuisine. We live off of Route 29, so I’m excited about this new place on our side of town.

A true hidden gem! I did not eat in, but the atmosphere is a total vibe! I picked up a lunch bento box, and I believe that will be my lunch for the rest of my time here in Charlottesville, which will be an eternity. Everything was absolutely amazing, very good portion sizes and the flavors were exploding in my mouth.

Went here for the first time today with my dad. We are BIG sushi lovers. We got the sashimi platter, spicy tuna roll, gyozas and soups. Was absolutely awesome!!! The sushi roll melted in our mouth, the gyozas were made there as we were eating, and the sashimi was even better!!! Everyone was so respectful and informative! Will definitely be back to try Ramen!

Amazing sushi and lovely atmosphere! The highlight is the Hamachi Kama which is a rare treat for Charlottesville… Highly recommend!

The food was delicious. We had ordered sushi. The presentation was appealing. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Always aware of our needs. I would definitely come back here to eat again.

One of the absolute best authentic ramen locations I have ever been to. The pork katsu ramen is heavenly, only complaint would be the katsu is a little tough to chew but that could be just my bowl. Pork gyoza and sauce are divine. This place is definitely worth checking out if you are at all interested in authentic ramen or sushi.

Really lovely experience, great food, great service. Unfortunately, the Tamari had been accidentally refilled with regular soy sauce, and I am now ill after consuming it. If you are celiac or gluten sensitive, just skip the sauce to be safe.

Have dined in and had carry out and every time I have been extremely satisfied. Prices are good, staff is friendly and prompt and the sushi is just far better than anything in the area. I have had sushi all across the country and the freshness and quality match some of the best I have had on the west coast. Portions are perfectly sized and priced. Nothing worse than sashimi that is way too thick or nigiri that is too small. I highly recommend you try their sushi for yourself before judging by any reviews, you will be very satisfied

Freshest sushi I've ever had. When I took my first bite of salmon sashimi today it practically melted between my lips!! Out of this WORLD!

My wife and I arrived in town late for most places. We came here because of the rating and being open still. Glad we did.
The place was clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and attentive despite it being within the hour of closing.
I didn't recall off the top of my head which rolls we ordered but both were perfect. The fish was fresh and the rolls were presented artistically.
We will return when in there area. If sushi is what you're looking for, you've found the best place to get it

A friendly, tasty addition to Charlottesville’s restaurant culture. We are fortunate to have Akira. Fresh sushi. Bold, adventurous rolls and menu items. Convenient location and parking. We will be back.
