I feel like the food critic from the movie Ratatouille. never in a million years would I have thought that the flavors that exist here should belong in ice cream. However, I happened upon this ice cream shop and saw a line so I figured I would try it while in town. The ice cream is extraordinary. The quality and care is evident with just a sample. It is among the best ice cream I have anywhere in the world, and that is a very, very long list of places. It has completely made me rethink what I thought I knew about flavor. I imagine that I will return here every single time I visit Portland.

This was my first time at salt and straw and it did not disappoint! I loved that they had flavors I had never heard of and they were super encouraging to try them. I also loved that they had reusable spoons for the samples. Staff was super cool too

Delicious unique flavors with a fun atmosphere. The staff were helpful and encouraged us to try all the flavors that interested us. Memory was especially kind and gave us fun things to do while we visited Portland.

Fantastic and friendly staff, who were so patient with my sampling and questions! They lived up to their reputation. I liked that some of their flavours veer away from the conventional - like the blue cheese+pear or the cocoa pulp gelato! Shout out to Andrew!

Got to go on this last Portland trip and as always the quality and quantity of ice cream was amazing! I always get a salted and malted cookie dough on a waffle cone and it's heaven. The only think was not raving about was the person who served us was not very kind and I chop it up to being busy but I tried giving compliments to them to be kind and engaging but I was heard and ignored it's ok though the ice cream is so good they could swear at me and I'd still go. 🤣

Possibly the best ice cream store in the world. Incredible flavours with lots of innovation. So impressed with them I bought their recipe book at Powell’s. I’m very lucky to be staying nearby and I’ve been able to walk down every night to try all the flavours. It’s always packed with people queuing up down the street. They’ve inspired me to open my own ice cream shop in Australia. These are my people.

This place is just fantastic, bot only because of the incredible ice cream, but due to it's great staff! Always feeling welcome, they offer suggestions and offer to help, an overall amazing experience! Gotta love this ice cream. Hands down, the very best!

Delicious ice cream (although I wish there were more gluten free options!). The single split scoop is kind of big (which most would think is a good thing I'm sure!). I might rather pay for an actual normal scoop size (split flavor) and pay a little less for a smaller portion (I know that seems crazy to say but sometimes I just want an actual single scoop!).

While we have enjoyed Salt & Straw in Miami, my ice-cream loving husband wanted to check out the city where it's made, so we went to the shop on Alberta.

I was thrilled to try the coconut milk based mint chocolate chip, which is a creamy choice I don't usually have as a dairy-free option, since companies frequently choose only fruit based alternatives.

It was creamy and tasty and I didn't feel like I was missing out. Such a treat on a very hot day.

My husband gives five stars to his double scoop of two flavors in a waffle cone.

I am not exaggerating when I say this is my favorite I’ve cream on earth. As someone with lactose issues, I greatly appreciate having vegan ice cream options. The best part is that it is not just sorbet, which I hate. The recent upcycled food series was awesome, and the summer berry options are always legit. The basaltic and anything with goat cheese is amazing!

The best! Their ice cream is made so well. The olive oil is a surprise delicious and sublime. Buttery and smooth. Honey Lavender and chocolate fudge all great flavors.

Delicious ice cream flavors! Super unique, creamy, and tasty. I got the goat cheese marionberry habañero. My friends got the birthday cake with blackberries. It was all so memorable and delicious.

I really did not understand why this place was rated so highly and had a queue before entering until I tried this! I tasted 4 flavors which I short listed, among which I was supposed to choose 1. As the photo suggests it was impossible to choose one and I ended up buying all 4! 😂 No regrets on money spent.. some on calories consumed! 😂 Just amazing! Not being into fruit ice creams, Pear and Blue Cheese was a pleasant surprise! Everything else was equally good including the staff's people skills!

Perfect place for you sweet tooth cravings. I visited this place around 10 pm and it was lively. They have loads of amazing ice cream flavors to offer. We tried their Honey Lavender and Lassi with raspberries flavor. Lassi with raspberries is my personal favorite. We loved it so much that got a pint for our home as well. Definitely recommend this place!

Went here around 8pm on a weekday. There was line and it moved quickly. The staff were friendly and polite. There is street parking, but on a busy day it might be hard to find parking. The icecream was delicious. We got the 1. Chocolate Gooey Brownie (5/5) its a must if you like chocolate and brownie. 2. Sea salt with caramel ribbon (5/5), its a bit on the salty end, but I liked it a lot. The scoops are big enough.

This was my very first visit to a Salt & Straw franchise, on my last day in Portland. The salted, malted, chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream in a waffle cone was delicious (I wanted to try one of the specialty flavours - some sort of choc pb cereal - but they were all out), and the service was top-notch! Jax was so friendly and helpful and put a smile on my face; my day was made.

One of my favorite specialty ice cream shops. This is not your Baskin-Robbins. These guys make unique ice cream flavors you can't get anywhere else! One warning though is that everything here is very sweet and rich, so don't order too much. It will fill you up fast.

What I personally recommend doing is getting the ice cream Flight. You can choose four different flavors, which is honestly too much ice cream for one person! Easily can share a flight with two or three people.

This is my favorite ice cream spot in Portland. If you are visiting this is a must to complete your Portland experience. They offer very unique flavors and pairings like Strawberry Honey Balsamic w/black pepper and Arbequina Olive Oil. You can ask to taste multiple flavors before making your selection. The staff is so friendly at all the locations and especially at the Alberta location. New flavors offered frequently as part of their limited edition flavors menu.
