My husband and I had the most incredible time at Foothills Farm over the weekend for our first wedding anniversary. I have been dying to spend some time on a farm and have browsed through several Georgia options online (we live an hour away in Marietta) but never followed through. But a few days before our anniversary, we found The Happy Shack on AirBnB and decided, on a whim, to stay there. It didn't have a ton of reviews but the reviews it did have were very good. It was decorated so nicely – and while that may not matter to some people (it doesn’t even matter to us, most of the time) – it was a sign that this camper is cared for and the people that manage it also care about their guests’ experience.

Since we booked sort of at the last minute, we really didn’t know what to expect from the farm, itself. But as soon as we pulled onto the property, my heart almost burst. It is so serene and so peaceful and just as some of the reviews for Foothills Farm suggest – it has this inexplicable GOOD ENERGY. I just felt SO HAPPY as soon as we pulled onto the land.

Kaleb & Sarah of Awtrey Outdoors/Foothills Farm are each one-in-a-million. They are so friendly and so passionate about what they do and it’s very obvious they love their own experience at Foothills Farm and want others to love their own experiences there, as well.

WHAT WE LOVED ABOUT THE FARM, THE CAMPER (“THE HAPPY SHACK”), AND OUR EXPERIENCE

*the NATURAL BEAUTY that the farm undeniably oozes with

*the PRIVACY & SECLUSION WITHOUT BEING DANGEROUSLY ISOLATED. The farm is secluded without feeling unsafe. Marble Hill is a very rural town and definitely a sweet escape from the hustle & bustle of everyday suburban/city life. But as soon as you drive off the lot there is a great grocery store, restaurants, etc. literally within walking distance of the farm’s gate. The farm, itself, has plenty of space and privacy – you are definitely on a REAL farm with acres and acres of land all around you – but the owners/managers are nearby and accessible.

*the ANIMALS. Oh, how we love animals. I honestly wouldn’t have minded if Kaleb & Sarah put us to work while we were there. All I want in life is a farm with animals to take care of. They currently have several chickens and a rooster, two goats, two horses, and two husky dogs. They are extremely knowledgeable about the animals, sincerely care about them, and encourage you to engage with them. We were in heaven. One of my favorite things was waking up in the wee hours of the morning while it was still dark and reading a book by flashlight next to the horses.

*the FREEDOM. You have access to essentially everything. You can walk the land, you can visit all the animals, you can tour the barn… it’s wonderful. We even put on our nice sweaters, set up our tripod, and took some holiday photos with the horses in the background.

*the CAMPER (“THE HAPPY SHACK”). It was so clean. So tastefully decorated. So cozy. It was stocked with all the essentials. We brought several things because it’s who we are but we quickly realized there was no need to. We especially appreciated the fact that it was dog-friendly (which means we could bring our beloved “Wolfie”). We also loved the guest log, the welcome letter, and the small, surprise touch they added for us. <3

*KALEB & SARAH. Where do I begin? From the moment I booked on AirBnB, the experience was amazing. They were extremely attentive and responsive online throughout the booking process and communicated the entire way. And then we met them in person - and to meet them is to want to be friends with them. They are so friendly and so positive and so warm & welcoming. They even invited us to join them around their fire one evening. They offer you privacy but are also open to engaging with you if that’s what you like. And we genuinely loved hearing their story and learning about the farm and animals.

Thank you so much, Kaleb & Sarah, Awtrey Outdoors, & Foothills Farm!

This is a beautiful place. Meadows, pastures, and woods are the setting for a modern house and horse barn maintained in top condition by owner Marla Cooley. She is a friendly, caring and responsible person who welcomes visitors and treats them well, through Airbnb and/or for horse boarding.

Foothills Farm is a wonderful work in progress!
Marla is very astute, capable and ever cognizant of respecting the land and making decisions on the fly as she forwards her project, allowing it to evolve in a sensible, yet fluid and organic fashion.
Her neighborhood parties with entertainment, her 'Barn of Art' flowing towards enduring local artisan expression and sales, soon to be coupled with a permaculture garden and other wonderfully expressive and nature-connected features.
All is geared towards use of the land in a positive, nonabrasive or invasive manner; treading softly while offering a great natural, open sky experience for her guests and partners...
I look forward to watching it unfold, and being part of it!

If you're looking for a little piece of heaven experience look no further. I don't like recommending to others but as my stay here was so memorable and outstanding. The location is breath takingly beautiful aswell as convenient. The people are just pure lovely. To add a cherry on top of the pie they are also starting a permaculture and regenerative farming community. How sweet is that? Thank you all at Foothills farm for such an awesome experience to go down in my memory book.
