Laymon's BBQ (Chicago Style)

The food is delicious. Just got the 3 links w fries and its super good. The mac and cheese as well. There was so much to order i didn't know what to get but im definitely comin back to try every thing. Oh and you need to get the banana pudding for sure. The people who work there are super friendly too

Absolutely stellar experience! If we could, we’d give this gem more stars. Our quest for exceptional barbecue led us here, and we were not disappointed. Even my nine-year-old gives it a perfect 10/10, clearing every bite (now, that’s high praise!). Having sampled the best in Kansas last fall, this place surpasses them all. Don’t let the gas station location fool you—the food here is nothing short of phenomenal. Don’t miss out!

I had to feed 20 people with only a days notice. I called up Layman and gave him my budget and he definitely delivered. When I showed up to pick up the food he had a full sample waiting for me to make sure I was satisified, and waited to shut down until he knew I was completely taken care of. We had more than plenty of food, and his whole team worked together to make sure we had everything we needed. I didn't expect to find a Texan out here in Rockford churning out some top notch BBQ, but I was pleasantly surprised. If you're in the area I would highly recommend making this a go to spot for lunch or dinner.

Just stopped there for our first time and amazing service. I don't normally leave reviews but they deserve the praise! Fast, friendly and far better prices and flavor than other bbq we've tried in the area. Ordered the pulled pork basket for myself and split some Mac n cheese with the misses and I'm stuffed! Will definitely be adding this to places we frequent. A+++

In Chicago land for work for three months, found my way to Rockford, Illinois, and some of the most amazing barbecue! I’m from Kansas City, known for its barbecue, but they better watch out This Barbecue is outstanding!! Wish I could give it more than five stars. I definitely give it a 10.

I've had BBQ in Houston, Memphis, Kansas City, and Southside Chicago but had no idea some of the best BBQ was a short 8 minute drive away. Laymon's should be a Rockford institution people come from miles away to try. I've tried the BBQ at other places in the region and nothing comes close to the taste and value for money. Please stop by and give it a try- you won't leave disappointed. 10/10 across the board!!!

Great ribs! Excellent sauce. Fresh fries. Service was top rate! Gonna try the brisket next. Heard it’s excellent.

I had the rib tips, links, and chicken wings with fries. It was delicious, fresh, and the BBQ taste I was looking for. The banana pudding is delicious as well. You won’t be disappointed.

You can really feel the soul that goes into the food. The oxtail is fantastic and Laymon is super friendly! Absolutely recommend.

Office got lunch there. Ribs, pulled pork & wings. Ribs were fall off the bone. Pulled pork and wings were great helpings and delicious 😋

The lady that waited on me was soooo kind. The man who made our food was courteous. The smell was mesmerizing. The food was fairly priced and delicious. Really made me feel like I was back in Chicago 🥰. I definitely have told some people about this food. Haven't stopped smiling since I found it. Black owned and professional.
