Steve Shuert Residential Design

I’d highly recommend Steve. He was great to work with when designing our home in McKinney, TX. Starting from a completely blank slate, he asked all of the right questions, and listened closely to our input, to get a solid understanding of what we wanted and put together a great design that met all of our needs and most of our wants. We were very happy with his services. He was professional, flexible, prompt, and clear.

Once our family made the decision to build what we hope will be a multigenerational lake house, we then set out to find a designer to fully customize our (limited) vision. Within that search, we met Steve Shuert and immediately felt comfortable. Over the course of the last several months we have worked with Steve to put a vision on paper and now have a design of which our entire family is excited! Steve’s easy-going personality worked well with us and his work has been nothing short of stellar! We are currently in the building phase and excited about this vision turning into reality and would highly recommend Steve Shuert for your Residential Designs!

My husband and I met with Steve and provided a few pictures and general concepts of how and what we wanted our dream house to look like. Steve took that information and went to work. It was 100% exactly what we wanted! He didn't miss a single detail and made a few recommendations/suggestions that we hadn't thought of (since we'd never designed a custom home before). We loved how he took us through the phases of designing a house. Making sure we were 100% happy before going to the next phase. In short, Steve made what could have been a nervous/hassle experience for us extremely easy and actually a lot of fun. We HIGHLY recommend Steve as your architect !!

Steve is not a draftsman.
Steve has a degree in Architecture from University of Texas. That may impress many customers but what impresses me as a Home Builder is the way he deals with my clients.
His demeanor is calming. Most clients have never had a custom home designed before.
Steve makes them relaxed by explaining his process to them. His patience is never ending.
Steve is able to sketch free hand. He can take their concept and turn their idea into a workable plan for their dream home. He gets it. I can’t ask for more for my clients. No matter what the style Steve-can pull it off!

Steve Shuert designed a dream home for our family of 12. He is an brilliant architect that captured the design of our home to make it functional and aesthetically pleasing for our family. From the first interaction it was clear that Steve took time to listen carefully about the unique things we needed for our home - specifically an open design that would give us a single open space for living room, dining room and kitchen, lots of bedrooms to accommodate our 10 kids, lots of storage and several spaces to allow us to let the kids play inside and have a space to home school them. He met us at the lot for our new house and tried to incorporate the strengths of the lot and highlight them with the design of the house (lots of windows in the common areas to give us an unobstructed view of the forest surrounding us). We filled out a list of specifications for the house and an idea of how we wanted the house laid out and within a few weeks he had the first draft with a room layout of the house. Even by the first draft it was clear he had taken time to listen to our needs and already it was 90% how we wanted it. We made some minor suggestions and by the second draft the layout was perfect. We had created several picture collections on Houzz and Pinterest of design elements or house styles we liked for Steve to get ideas from and when he came up with the first elevation drawings of the house it was perfect. It captured our love for Craftsman homes and the unique details of that style. Our initial design included a basement and nanny quarters but after considering the added costs we decided to forgo those elements and again Steve had revisions to the architectural plans back to us in a few days with the changes we needed made. We would highly recommend Steve Shuert for any type of architectural project you might need designed. He is highly competent, works efficiently, listens to his clients while providing architectural suggestions to enhance the home and we could not have been happier with the final design we got from Steve. Architects like Steve are hard to find and we are so glad our builder, Mike Cusack, recommended him to work on the design of our home. We could not have been more pleased with the end result.
