Flight of Fancy

I’ve raved about Flight of Fancy once ago, and here I am years later doing so again. You can’t go wrong here, whether it’s sweet or savory your taste buds are craving.

I visited the bakery twice during my weekend in Donnelly. On the first day, my husband and I shared a breakfast burrito (scrambled eggs, sausage, salsa, hash browns, dried, cheese, wrapped with a wheat tortilla, $7.00), a cream cheese lemon muffin ($3.00) and a huckleberry donut ($2.00). The burrito was delicious. It was generously packed with all the goods and served at the perfect temperature. Full of flavor, I didn’t even need any hot sauce. The muffin was rich, baked with a yummy ball of cream cheese in the middle. You’ll want a big glass of milk to go with this one. The huckleberry donut was absolutely out-of-this-world. The frosting was wonderfully creamy and bursting with flavors of fresh, Idaho huckleberry. If you’re a tourist, this is a MUST TRY.

On day two, my husband ordered another burrito because he was so impressed with the first. I went for the breakfast sandwich ($7.00) which was unlike any I had ever had before. It’s a thick slice of delicious, homemade frittata (eggs, cheese, green chiles, salsa, sour cream, dried onion and flour ) with cheddar cheese between two slices of focaccia. I can’t say enough good things about it. Each bite was phenomenal. The frittata was incredibly well seasoned as was the focaccia. I will be returning for this sandwich and more sweet treats.

The service is outstanding as well. The owner is incredibly warm and welcoming. Flight of Fancy is a GEM. I can only hope it sticks around for many, many years!

Very relieved to find this bakery in Donnelly, as it’s the only place in town with an espresso machine. We arrived at 7:45am to find freshly baked muffins coming out of the oven and fresh coffee being brewed.

All things huckleberry are fantastic, but the lemon curd muffin is also excellent. When ordering espresso drinks, keep in mind they only use one shot regardless of drink size, so be sure to specify # of shots when ordering.

Owner and staff are hilarious too, so be sure to chat while ordering.

Rustic shop with coffee, espressos, lattes, pastries and breakfast. We had a White Mocha and Huckleberry lattes and Lemon Huckleberry cake. Mmmmm

Amazing!! I made the right choice this morning to stop here and not go to the first place I had planned to try. Quiche was seasoned just right. I also had the huckleberry and cream cheese danish. Fresh huckleberry, smooth cream cheese and that croissant was crispy and crackly. It was great.

Owner isn’t rude. Just direct and honestly working hard to create so many incredible bites to eat. Just be friendly and caring to the staff. We had a great little convo.

Delicious! I got an americano and a huckleberry & cream cheese danish. The staff was so fun, quick and efficient! Would highly recommend!

Yummy pastries and coffee. I definitely need to go back so I can try her other delicious treats! The mayor owns this place.....and she was working there when we came in!

Each time I head to Idaho and run the river for a couple days, we ALWAYS stop here, every morning they're open. Their huckleberry muffins are amazing!! Always fresh, always full of flavor. She also does some other wonderful bakery items such as the huckleberry coconut bars--another crowd-pleaser.

There usually is a line to get in the front door but it is well worth the wait. It is not a full-blown 'breakfast restaurant' but if you're looking for a quick quiche, muffins, amazing huckleberry danishes and coffee, there's not a better place for miles--including anything in McCall. You'll thank me when ya go, and support a great local business with deep ties to the community.

This is a whimsical little place that serves up coffee and a simple, quick, delicious breakfast with a healthy dose of humor and sarcasm to put you on your toes. My companions enjoyed their breakfast burritos and sandwich, and I absolutely loved my huckleberry almond croissant. The charming decor absolutely matches the name, Flight of Fancy, take time to look around!

Espresso here is amazing! Best in the area for sure! They use locally roasted beans and importantly, the correct grinder. Double shot with a splash of half and half… perfecto!

Absolutely love the seasonal real fruit huckleberry Danish and mocha. If I happen to be up in Donnelly when huckleberries are in season, I make it a point to get these at least once while I'm in town.

Super friendly service, great hot coffee and superb home-made breakfast sandwich, which is like an omelet on fresh baked bread.

LOVE THIS PLACE! We were visiting from out of town for a friend's wedding - went here every morning for coffee and pastries with our friends. Such a cute place, amazing coffee, amazing pastries, and awesome outdoor atmosphere! Wish there was one of these in Phoenix!

A must stop for locals and visitors alike. This place is so delicious every time. Be an early bird if you don't want to miss out on your favorite. Honestly on par with the best of bigger cities, and I'm picky. My favorites: Ham and cheese croissant (to die for layers), huckleberry danish, and cream cheese brownie (< dark chocolate heaven).

This small quaint and quirky spot has pastries that are heavenly! She certainly has those dialed in and they are perfection. The Lemon Cream Cheese muffin, Ham and Cheese Croissany and the Huckleberry Almond Croissant are on pointe! Very good espresso drinks as well. I've never had her lunch offerings but would expect them to be similarly yummy. Do yourself a favor and try it out.

Adorable local cottage-style bakery. Was recommended by a friend, stopped by for a late breakfast on the road. Friendly staff and their donuts are delicious! Will definitely be coming back again.
