Bookworks

Don't be scared of the weird entrance. It's basically a small strip mall, with the bookstore being down a hallway. It's a very cute bookstore. Well organized and lots of options. The front desk lady was fun and friendly. I enjoyed the local feel of the place, as various people came in to chat with the front desk lady. It's always a joy to hear the local gossip as I shop, giving the store a cozy feel, like the bookshop is the community hangout. I wouldn't pay attention to the signs or prices in the store, as I bought two books and neither was the price I thought they'd be, but it was still ridiculously cheap. The store is run for charity, so I didn't really care how much they wanted. They prefer cash, if possible, and I was happy to oblige. I even got a free bookmark out of the deal.

This was a really neat bookstore. There was a decent kids section and a really great choice of books. There was an anthology of Harry Potter books in a treasure chest box, and that seemed like an awesome deal. Peggy helped me find a good hardcover book, in pristine condition and she explained that the store is an extension of a nonprofit, and so they welcome most book donations. All proceeds go to Tahoe Family Resource Center, and so you can feel really good about reading as well as help families in need. We will be back to donate some of our read books and find some more “new” good reads.

Great used bookstore, exactly what a book lover loves to find on vacation!

Very cute little used book store. The lady working the day we visited was extremely sweet and enthusiastic. The hours posted on the door showed that they opened at 11 but we had to return at noon because no one was there.

If you are an avid reader, this is a treasure-trove worth the visit. Great selection and very fair pricing. Wish there were more good used book stores like this. You will not be disappointed!

As usual, a very interesting lot of books. They're sorted by genre (fiction, SF, mystery, romance, war/adventure, cookbooks, non-fiction, etc ) and by author, so it's easy to find sections of interest. There are racks of books outside for a dollar each, and some sale shelves inside. Also DVDs and CDs. I always walk out with a book, or a stack of them.

As frequent visitors to South Lake Tahoe over the past 20 years or so, we have come to think of the area as kind of a second home. And Bookworks has become a mandatory stop for us - we love browsing for great book finds and walk away feeling good about supporting this local volunteer run gem. It feels even better to know that every dolllar of our donations and purchases goes to support the local family resource center! Be sure to put this place on your Tahoe To Do list!

Cute used book store. I think they run off of donations and the money from the books goes towards some kind of nonprofit. The volunteer working was extremely helpful.

Great place! Plenty on fiction to keep your imagination running wild. If your looking for non-fiction, I suggest you stop by their sister location, Keynote Books and Records.

Best store I’ve been too in a long time. Very nice lady that worked there. Showed me around and helped to find whatever I was wanting.
