I went in search of home school curriculum to buy for my kids. They don’t have any but were quick to suggest other places for me to look at. Nice folks quiet little shop.

In Heaven! This place was wonderful, seriously tons of books to look through and purchase. I had to leave before spending all my money. If you prefer gently used books for yourself, kids or significant other check this place out. The books are well priced! The place is clean and well laid out. Loved the little kids area.

Best used bookstore in town. "Grumpy" allows patrons to browse his stacks, uninterrupted, without constantly popping up to ask if he can help. (This is the only thing that might make him appear "grumpy" to some — however, for an introvert like me, this setup is ideal.) A selection far superior to any other bookstore in town (and far better prices) — my favorite find thus far was an out-of-print Tolkien biography for a couple of dollars. The owner maintains a well-stocked, varied children's section. I visit every few months and the selection is frequently updated. Middle-grade paperbacks are priced low enough that I can usually surprise my two sons with a big stack of new-to-them books for ten or fifteen dollars. I only wish he sold Grumpy Bookpeddler merch (i.e., coffee mugs or stickers). I'd buy that, too!

Very organized and well stocked bookstore. Reasonable prices, Found a few good books on military history. Walking distance to the Brass Horn coffee shop. Will plan to spend more time there on my next visit to the Nashville area.

Grumpy's is the staple used book store of Murfreesboro. If you love books, you'll love the Grumpy Bookpeddler. The shelves are stuffed full, but sections are well-organized in robust collections.

Check the store's facebook page before stopping by as the owner will post there if he has a planned closure.

Parking is ample.
Bring your own bag if you plan to get more books than you can carry :)

I adore used bookstores, so I was prepared to like this one. I love it! It's well organized by genre, has poetry and cookbooks, and is clean. Local history is represented, the prices are good, and it was surprisingly large.

You will find all sorts of books here. The owner showed us a 300-year-old book that blew us away!

I bought two old matted prints that now grace our living room wall. Pretty neat!

I love going here. Everything I visit I manage to find something new. A lot of books are reasonably priced which makes it hard not to spend a whole lot. I trade all time and he purchases nearly everything I bring in. Really organized. Just be sure that if there something you really like or want, you get it because it might not be there the next you're in.

Great used bookstore! My kids beg to go check out the children’s books. We always find something we want. Thanks for making it a fun place to hunt for great reads!

They have a great selection of books!

Had to dispose of my brother's estate. It included 35 boxes of books from his personal collection. The Grump Bookpeddler was a godsend. One call, explained our situation, they took every box of books, went through them individually and within a week called to give us a price for the collection - which was more than we estimated - and a collection of personal items they found in the boxes. Highly recommend this business and they were absolutely great to work with.

Friendly staff and a good selection of books. I was able to find a whole basket full of novels I am eagerly looking forward to reading, and the prices there are really good. He also gives you a decent return on trade in books too so you can get something new. This store is a much needed feature in a college town where bookstores should be everywhere.

Very happy that there's a privately-owned small business used book store like this in my neighborhood. The selection is wonderful, and the small store is actually a plus --less time walking, more time checking out all the books!

Everything is neatly organized, even with books basically from floor-to-ceiling (seriously, it's so awesome, and I easily could have spent another hour browsing). There is an ample selection of fiction, history, a neat little philosophy section (always my personal favorite).

There is also a well-stocked children's section with a cute play-area for the kids (as well as a cozy lounge/reading area for the adults), and a very impressive selection of literature/classics in its own featured corner of the store. There are lots of gems to be discovered --I found a few myself-- and contrary to the clever name, the owner was a pleasure to chat with! I'll definitely be back, and if you're in Murfreesboro, so should you!

This is a very nice bookstore! I always find great books here for decent prices. Owner really is grumpy, but it makes the experience better considering the name of the business. Awesome place, great job!
