Need baking Lavender to make Ice Lemon Lavender Shortbread Cookies, and also picked up a variety of barbecue spices.

We also picked up Lavender Vanilla Sugar as a suggestion from the very helpful staff in order to top off the cookies.

I have said multiple times to my husband that this is one of the best changes that came out of the COVID shortages and lockdowns. We were desperately searching for a source to get our spices when every local store was low on everything and I was trying to find an option that wouldn’t require me to drive around town for hours. The quality and selection from The Spice House are amazing. No more searching to find za’atar or gochujang chile flakes. Everything is so fresh and high quality. I wish I would have found it sooner.

My husband and I love to cook. I mean if you can’t find it here, you can’t find it anywhere. So many choices available, knowledgable staff and so great spice collaborations. You can’t go wrong here. Their collection and spices are hard to match anywhere else!

Super customer service. Friendly. Educational. Wonderful in store space with a spice bar. Lots of spices, clearly. Great place for gifts. Only potential negative, and that's not their fault, is that street parking can be a little hit or miss. Ask for Laurie, she's a powerful and enthusiastic and kind force.

Most stores today and their items inside are contaminated with that super-slippery oil (from Germ-X sanitizer), or super-slippery silicone grease (CeraVe lotion). This is one of those rare stores in which none of the employees are ghetto users of such offensive products (slippery silicone). So you can actually touch the items in this store without transferring the slimy silicone oil onto your hands - I could not believe it!! I'm going to get my spice items here from now on. Plus the spices here are of 100% potency (quality) vs whole foods 50 to 70%, jewel 50%, aldi 20% spice potency. Also the selection is totally complete, and if you are a seasoned cook, you already know that the quality of the spice can make or break your cooking efforts.. With that said, this store is an obvious must for advanced foodies and cooks -- its just one of those things, i.e.) "if you know, you know"
Re: photo of the vegetable only chili = the back story: to test the chili powder and cumin I got here, I made this quick chili with spices from this store + used onlythe Skokie farmers market produce grown in rich soil. The result was simply amazing! Michelin star chili at home, could not believe it! Try for yourself and see the night and day difference that quality ingredients can make!

The staff were lovely and helpful. The atmosphere was great. The products were the utmost in high quality. I wouldn't recommend it to others so much that I brought my aunts and grandmother to it. They also loved it.

Go to mixes to everyday herbs. The smell inside is inviting. Very helpful staff.

The Spice House is a great place to get everything from your average everyday spices like salt and pepper (both of which they have a great selection of) to very strong spices like star anise and curry. If you need a spice, odds are they have it .

They also offer mixed spices like taco seasoning, which will make you swear off the prepackaged stuff forever!

Some of the most helpful, cheery staff you've ever met work here. Very knowledgeable too. A must visit if you are in the Evanston/ Wilmette area.

This is my go-to place for spices, herbs, and other cooking/baking ingredients. I shop both in-store and online depending on if I'm in the area or just want to shop from home. You can buy a small jar or larger quantities depending on your needs. I have been shopping The Spice House for years and their customer service is fantastic all around. Don't bother with the grocery store versions, does not compare. Thank you!

My old time favorite spice store. I had to buy alot of spices and bring back to MD. love this unique store. As soon you open the door, the aroma of spices from all over the world is just telling you bring me home. Cook food and share it with your families and friend

Fantastic spices! If you enjoy cooking, you owe yourself a trip to Spice House. (If you know Penzy's, these folks are relations.) Fresh spices at a cost considerably less than the wee, stale jars at the grocery. These folks are genuinely concerned about the quality of their wares. Everyone in my family likes to visit here, just to sniff. One of my favorite places in the Chicago area.

Nice location in far North of Evanston.
Prices have been creeping up but quality consistently good. Recommended are; sweet paprika, Fines Herbs, Parisian blend and any of the herbs in bulk.

Good luck getting past the amazing scent when you walk in the door... but when you do, you'll find a diverse selection of spices, herbs, salts, seasonings, and oh so much more. My personal favorites are their candied ginger nibs as well as the sweet nib mix. Staff are wonderful, atmosphere is warm and gentle. Hard to resist stopping by when I'm in the neighborhood.
