This bookstore is a gem. It had a wide variety of new, current books as well as older, used books. I asked for a recommendation relative to a recent book I finished and the gal immediately gave me two recs! I also picked up a mystery surprise book. So far, it’s lovely! Highly recommend this spot.

One of the cutest book stores I've ever been to! The lady at the front (possibly the owner?) was such a sweetheart. The second I walked in, she had the warmest smile on her face, and the atmosphere was cozy even before books were in sight.

There was a larger collection of books than expected! You will find a multitude of new releases here. The shelves containing used books are half off regular price, so if cost is a factor when you are book shopping, you will definitely find great deals on these shelves :) The books there are lightly used too, so quality is not a concern.

Overall I would absolutely recommend going here! This bookstore was a lovely pit stop in my OBX trip and I hope to visit it again. <3

This place is my love language. Diverse book selection, even including DnD! The owner also has some really neat bags for sale made from recycled ship sails. Give this place your business!

Not only the best bookstore on the NC Outer Banks, but one of the very best I have ever visited, anywhere. BVB is a real, honest-to-God public service institution, making life better for everyone.

What a treasure! Whenever I go someplace new, I have to check out their local bookstores. Buxton doesn't disappoint! Wonderful selection of new and used books, and a great selection of local authors. I spent an hour and a half, and could have spent more in this local haven. The owner was so helpful in helping me decide on a book, and I am already hooked with her selection. Shop independent bookstores! And if you're in Buxton, you have to visit Buxton Village Books!

My wife and I absolutely loved this bookstore! The old building has so much character, it was nice just to visit but the selection of books, miscellaneous artwork and other various items ensure you don't leave empty handed. The owner was very nice and a pleasure to visit with. This is another Hatteras Island must-stop site!

I love walking in this store! It has that soothing and calming vibe. I always leave with something; i.e., books, note cards, a Sea Bag, or a magnet.

We’ve been visiting Buxton Village Books for at least 2.5 decades, if not since the store opened. We travel from NKY and it’s tradition to buy books Monday to read on the trip, and have a couple to take home too! Sure, you can buy some authors on Amazon, but why would you? You are vacationing on an island and you should support island economy. I value the owner’s dedication to local authors, to regional writers and arts, as well as carefully curated gift items. The youth reader section is a favorite of my 13 year old. I hate that the most recent reviews for such a tremendous small business are nasty about face masks. Get over yourselves, the world doesn’t revolve around you, thankfully. Nothing gets between me and a trip to Buxton Village Books!

The best business on the Outer Banks. Great selection of books and greeting cards. It's just a darling setting, the type I would choose if I owned a bookstore. Stays busy during the season, and parking can be a hit or miss.

Such a wonderful small town book store! They have a great selection and it's a fun way to spend your afternoon away from the hot North Carolina sun.

We stopped in here one late afternoon and the owner is so friendly. They didn't have a book on stock but ordered it for me right away!

The building is super interesting and I love the layout. If your in Buxton this little book store is a must to stop in. :)

This book store is awesome. It’s a very quaint shop with a large assortment to choose from, friendly people who are always willing to help you out and a bit of history on the walls if you look for it. This is my daughters favorite place to stop when we’re down that way.

Such a cute store! Great selection of books as well, with many popular titles in a wide range of genres. Also they have a super cute “art” corner with various art supplies, journals, notebooks, and bags made from recycled materials. The used book section has some great titles also.

Cottage bookstores can be misleading. Often holding the promise of literature then feinting with poor quality and kitsch.
Not Buxton, though. This is a well-curated, quaint, intelligent, and regionally relevant addition to the local culture. Go early. It can feel a bit cramped with other tourists, but stay for the charm and conversation.

It is such a charming, quaint shop! The very epitome of an independent bookstore. I love the eclectic mix of second-hand and new titles, and the Local Authors/Local Interest shelf is extraordinary. I appreciate as well the shelf dedicated to Nature & the Environment. Our annual sojourn to the Outer Banks is incomplete without a visit ~ or two! ~ to this shop!

Doesn’t look like much from the outside but a real surprise inside. Large variety of new books and some used in back. Great children’s section.

SUCH a cute little shop. It’s got great finds - books and gifts, journals, and some artwork. A little nook with used books. Great prices. The only downside was it was so crowded you could barely explore the shop- but glad their shop is getting lots of traffic. It’s a must stop for fans of bookstores - they even have a bookmark they give away which advertises 6 other bookstores on the OBX
