Carr Valley Cheese Store

Extremely tidy store that offers up samples of their cheese before you buy them. The samples are quite tasty and since we were going to APT to watch a live performance we bought some mozzarella string cheese and beef jerkey to snack at the performance. The personnel at Carr are very friendly and knowledgeable about the cheese. They stayed open for us even though it was past closing time just to chat with us and allow us to finish with our purchases.

Kathy was great!!! She was so helpful and the birdbaths were beautiful! I've got some new favorite cheeses and met a wonder new amazing friend!!!

Well stocked and friendly staff. Good selection of cheeses and other items. If you don't buy some fresh cheese curds, your really missing out!

After seeing a video showcasing the specialty cheeses at Carr Valley Cheese I wanted to visit their store. Being a 3 hour drive it wasn't just a cheese store you stop at while doing your shopping.

During a recent trip to Madison we finally got a visit in. Plan for a leisurely drive through the twisty turns of the beautiful countryside to Mazomanie.

When first walking into the store we were greeted by the employee who gave a brief tour of the store then provided us with samples of the various cheeses.

There are little cups throughout the store with small sample bites and if you want to try a cheese let them know, they'll get you one.

All the samples throughout our visit found us filling our basket with delicious flavored cheese. A few more customers came in but we weren't neglected. They were cooking up Bread Cheese. I had never heard of it but after a little taste I filled my basket with several of the flavors.

There is a section with small sizes of the various cheeses including the flavored goat, cow and sheep cheese. And of course I filled my basket some more.

I have a few cheeses that should definitely make it to your kitchen.

I'm looking forward to the Menage, Cranberry Chipotle Cheddar and the Boozin'' Billy. Cheese on crackers with a nice dark beer will be the hit of the Packers halftime.

The employee made a personal recommendation for the Mammoth Cheddar. At first glance it looks very dry but once you let the cheese warm on your palate it easily melts and reminds you of a well aged parmesan but with a smooth, creamy feel. After sifting through all the available packages, I took the biggest one. I envision a creamy pasta dish with scallops and topped with grated Mammoth Cheddar.

If you like pumpkin you have to try their pumpkin spice cheddar which would pair well with both a red or white wine. After holding the package in my hand for a bit I could smell the warm notes of pumpkin.

The Sweet Vanilla Cardona is a goat cheese with a smooth, creamy texture and just the right hint of Vanilla. This cheese tastes like a dessert cheese that would pair nicely with a white wine.

But if you have a sweet tooth this second ""cheese" is really something that should be in your bag to go home. Chocolate Cheese. Yes, they assured me it was a cheese but after tasting it your mouth tells you it is fudgy candy that you want more of.

And don't forget the cheese curds. Best word of advice...don't go there hungry.

The combination of cow, goat and sheep cheeses make you want to incorporate them into every meal.

I'm so happy we took a little drive to the Carr Valley Cheese Store.

Outstanding customer service and variety of quality of local cheese makes this a winning compilation. Noah, a respectful and smart young man was able to assist me with good choices of quality cheese. Not too mention all the samples!
Tip: "Spicy Beer" cheese spread is worth trying. Also look in the baskets for discounted cheese and ends and outs. You can find a decent deal.

I love stopping in and grabbing samples of a variety of cheeses to taste. Then I can buy a whole block of my favorites!

Friendly staff that is highly knowledgeable about their products. Large selection of cheese, spreads, and butters. They also have samples! 😊

Best cheese curds ever!😀. Taste is yummy, just like I remember when I was a kid. The ones from other stores taste like they just cut from a block and throw in a bag. Car Valley is the way it should taste!! Amazing, will go every time I’m in the area. You have me as a life member!!!!

Very nice place and the clerk at the store was so friendly and helpful, informative of the products. Will come back but until then will shop online.

Great assortment of cheeses. The best in the area. If you want to try any cheese, I suggest to buy the "orphans", which are the ends or little left over pieces that are sold for a couple dollars.

Fun variety of local cheeses. Lots of samples. The prices are very reasonable. EBT is not accepted here.

The staff really knows everything about their products. I should have gotten her name when I went because she was so helpful and knowledgeable. The store was spotless top to bottom. I have bought from them on numerous occasions and I will continue to do so. To others it may seem pricey but it is worth every cent.

This little store is a treasure. Always has the best cheese curds and other fun goodies. Service is great. Location is easy to get to. Parking is perfect!

Nice little shop right off the highway. They have many cheeses, wines, syrup and more. They have samples of most of the cheeses. Friendly staff. Clean facility.

We were recommended to go here to check out some of the local products. We ended up leaving with some Harvest Wine Cheese spread & we are here to report that it is DELICIOUS & we will be needing more. We almost ate the whole thing in one sitting it’s so good! We also love the selection of jams, meat sticks & cute cutting boards.

Lots of great cheeses and cheese compliments like crackers or hot pepper jam. The Orphans section is wonderful for small bits of cheese. Bring a cooler or buy one there.
