In the fudge-laden wonderland that is Mackinac Island, Ryba's Fudge Shop stands as one of many options for those with a sweet tooth. Here's a taste of my experience.

The fudge? Good, I must say. It hits those creamy, chocolaty notes one expects, though it doesn't quite sing a solo above the chorus of other offerings on the island.

But alas, the visit was marred by a service experience akin to biting into an overcooked caramel – slightly bitter and lacking the desired sweetness. The lady assisting us appeared to have left her humor and cheerfulness in the dream world, her tired and grumpy demeanor casting a shadow over the vibrant array of fudge.

I understand that we all have our off days, and perhaps this was simply a one-time occurrence. But in a world filled with sugar and spice, one does long for a sprinkle of charm to complete the confectionery experience.

Ryba's, I see your potential, like a cocoa bean waiting to bloom into fine chocolate. I hope that my next visit will be flavored with joy, humor, and an extra dash of Mackinac magic.
