Crying Cat Books and Records

This was the cutest book store I’ve found since moving here. So many books; a mix of used and brand new. Little trinkets, candles and other goodies were sprinkled throughout for purchase as well. I loved how quaint the feeling of this store was. The woman who helped me was just a delight. I will be recommending this place to anyone in need of a fun Saturday afternoon!

Cutest bookstore I’ve ever been to. They offer a wide variety of books ranging from kids, young adults, horror, history, and even poetry (which was a personal favorite). The owner was very polite. I will be returning in the future!

This is our fav local record and book store hands down. Best customer service in town. Always makes sure I have the releases I want on release day and just a brilliant selection overall. You won’t be disappointed!

The store is located in an older home and provides for an awesome atmosphere. The inventory of pre-owned vinyl records was limited but included above average selection quality of 70s and 80s rock. Prices were a little higher than average. The selection of new vinyl included rock, metal, blues, and jazz. The stacks were arranged so that it was easy to flip through. This store stands out as the coolest vinyl shop in Murfreesboro.

I frequent this bookstore weekly, and in my opinion, it is the Best locally owned book store in middle Tennessee if not, the state.

They offer used books as well as new and they can order anything for you.

The record selection is top notch and changes constantly.
The owner also sells fresh chicken eggs from her happy hens.

Crying Cat is a special independent bookstore. The books and album collections are lovingly hand-curated with a mix of new and used volumes, and the space is absolutely magical. From the sunny front room with comfy couches to several small nooks where you can sit and browse volumes, this is a reader's space, through-and-through. Close your eyes and imagine the kind of bookstore you've seen in movies. Yep, that's this bookstore.

My husband and I recently visited some friends in the area and they took us to Crying Cat Books. It was such an amazing store! So many choices for books, vinyl, and local art work pieces. And of course we bought some of everything! Plus a very cute puppy I got to hold while I was missing my own mini schnauzer 😍

I would definitely recommend this charming store to anyone in the area who wants a fabulous selection and cozy store with amazing energy!

Love this incredible small yet wonderfully full books and more store. First runs, resales, local artwork, amazing records, and so cool tshirts! A must do if you love music or books of any kind.

Absolutely loved the customer service!!! I was able to get ahold of a record I really wanted for record store day and wasn't able to get without their help for a great price. Fast at responding and true to their word. Love to see a great shop like this and ill be coming back for more in the future. Thank you all crying cat employees 👏🙏

This place is my absolute go to for books and vinyl. I love bringing people here to this (somewhat hidden?) gem! The owner is so sweet and welcoming! Never left disappointed!

The atmosphere and selection are top notch! They had exactly what I was looking for and then some! The prices are reasonable, they have hand made art and jewelry as well as a wide variety of books and records. Overall I will 100% return for more and recommend others come here too!

I recently moved to Murfreesboro. My friend Matt was helping me move & we ran across this amazing local store with books and music and local art pieces. I swung by not long after one day but it was just about 20 minutes before they normally open. The owner was SO very kind and accommodating and let me in early. I bought a small painting that is an interpretation/tribute to the song “Paranoid Android” by Radiohead. I was a big fan of the 1997 album “OK Computer” that the song was on so it was a fun find. I highly recommend checking this shop out if you’re in Murfreesboro TN

Love this book and record store so much they have one of the best record selections I've seen and you can tell the owner really puts thought into everything she does they are always super friendly wish it wasn't so far away but it's definitely worth the trip I always find something I didn't know I was looking for or needed for my record or book collection 😊

The Crying Cat is my favorite place to shop for books and my son’s favorite place to shop for albums! We always enjoy stopping by to see what new and unique items have arrived and love the atmosphere! Everyone is always incredibly friendly and helpful. This place is a local treasure!

Don't make the mistake I did and put off visiting Crying Cat Books and Records. They have a relaxed, cozy environment and good selection.

Instead of going for the broadest possible selection of records, it feels more curated.
From boygenius to Kendrick Lamar to John Prine, there were multiple albums that I haven't found in other shops, even larger ones. They also sell local music and art of various mediums. If I had the time, I would have stayed and looked through their books all day. 🤣

I will definitely be coming back.
