I have bought hard to find hardware items from Fastenal for years, albeit sporadically. I went there today to find a particular item and was flat out told they would not do business with me. I would have to open an account and do at least $500 worth of purchases a month to maintain the account. They no longer sell to the general public. I don’t know if they allow purchases from the general public on line or not and I don’t really care to find out. When I need what they have, I need it right then from the local storefront and don’t want to wait a week or more to get it and have to pay shipping to boot. Just as well, I guess; they charged more than anyone else around for hardware. They just can’t be bothered with the little guy and a sale of less than $500.

This place must be getting huge subsidies from the government because they certainly aren’t running a customer-friendly business. They make it extremely difficult to do business with them. It’s just not worth it. I guess it’s why Amazon is killing it!
