Gruene Outfitters

Great little fly-fishing and outdoor outfitter store. Top brands like Filson, Orvis, and great Texas brands like Bexar and Sendero. Good prices on clothing and some great gear! Tanner is the in-house expert and a great representative of the brand. We talked about fishing and general outdoors adventures for quite a bit. My kind of store, will be back for sure.

Edit for 2023 after returning from our previous visit in 2021: This place has so much cool stuff and I had to walk out before I bought half of the store! Howler Bros, Sendero, Patagonia, if it’s outdoors and quality, you name it, they have it!

Literally the coolest group of people I ever met. So nice. It is our first time at Gruene and they helped us find the coolest go-to spots around town. Good name brand clothing & shoes. 10/10 recommend.

I came in here a couple years ago to learn a little bit about catching bass on a fly in the area. The man who helped us was so nice and helpful. Everyone here was very nice. It's taken me so long to write this review, but after referring this place to someone I realized they needed a good review. I will stop by here again in the future.

Every time we visit Gruene this is my “manly” store to get to shop at. The wife and kids get all the other stores this is mine! Always great items to look through offering great quality brands! Today one of the staff helped me to pick the perfect sunglasses. The store was jammed packed with shoppers and she took the time to make sure I was given excellent customer service. She even cleaned up my new glasses and made sure I was happy with them. Super cool store to check out!

My son and I stopped by for the first time and it was well worth the visit. The staff was welcoming and regularly checked to see if we needed any help with any of their products. The shop carries a great assortment of the outdoor products we are all familiar with, great brands and high quality gear. The staff delivered great customer service. Overall we had an excellent experience. The fly fishing shop is well stocked and you can find everything from a tiny mosquito fly to a complete fly fishing setup, including a guided fishing service if needed. The pro fishing guide offered great advice and answered all of our questions. He was very helpful and not only to us but most importantly to another customer who was new to fly fishing and was asking questions about the equipment needed to get started in fly fishing. The guide asked the right questions and provided the best advice ever. 🏆 Knowledge is power and the guide was sharing his knowledge before anything else. Great job! If you are visiting the Guadalupe River region make sure you stop by Gruene Outfitters.

Very helpful staff and the dog is as cute as can be. My son was able to get a high quality wallet and knife as well. Great place to shop!

Great store, excellent selection of the top brands in fly fishing equipment and outerwear like orvis and simms. Great selection of clothing, packs(mystery ranch), sunglasses, new yeti colors. Also, the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.

This is my favorite store in Gruene. Great selection of outdoors equipment and clothing. Awesome selection of high quality knives and great fishing gear. The staff is incredible kind and welcoming. Its a great store and they have a lifelong customer in me.

Enjoyed talking with these guys about places to fish along the Guadalupe River. We went to where they suggested and landed one of 3 bass that bit!! Well stocked store too if you need any fly fishing gear!

I went in today to buy a couple of flies, and ended up talking to the employee in the fly shop for about 15 minutes! She was super receptive to all my questions and super friendly! The fly selection is by far the best around, and you can't beat the customer service. They just earned a frequent customer.

Great shop with a killer staff. Shah was a huge help in letting me bounce ideas off of him for fly fishing. They carry great gear and have great advice.

Really nice store! They have a good selection of yeti products and men's clothing. Comfort color brand t-shirts avaible as well!

Great selection of name brand, reliable clothing, shoes, fishing gear, and more. The store doesn’t feel claustrophobic but they have so much great stuff. Definitely a great place for gifts and for a new wardrobe.

G O always has great selection of usable clothes and gear, not just for urban wear. But stylish if you want. Especially shirts from the fly fishing lines have great room for free movement available for warm or winter wear. The staff is great, friendly and knowledgeable.

Great staff! My wife and I are headed to Alaska in a few weeks for some fly and halibut fishing. We were planning on just seeing what sizes we ran in waders and buying online or when we were up there. Chris in the back of the shop showed us a few and had my wife fitted perfectly! He found us some sale simms waders and I even bought a new pair to replace my old pair. I've been here a few times and worked for cabelas for a few years myself, so when I say they know thier stuff I mean it! Definitely will be back for advice and gear for local fishing.

So much to choose from! Friendly, helpful staff, and the fly shop portion just keeps getting better.
