The Fresh Market

The actual store, its layout, the options and variety, the prices, and the cleanliness...10 stars! Wonderful! The staff friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism....1 star...so I gave this place 3 stars total.

For someone that has a ton of "weird" allergies...this place was beyond awesome! They had so many options of not just snacks but actual food. It was really refreshing. Prices are always high for specialty/allergy-friendly foods, but these prices were competitive even with what you pay at Walmart for my "go-to" snacks and foods. The displays are eye-catching and not overwhelming! The produce section....just gorgeous! There is a lot of variety, and I really like how even with a lot of things are not crammed into small spaces/shelves.

The issue came at checkout. The girl who checked me out said "don't tell me...you're gluten free" but in a snide tone. I explained that it is much more involved than that with my allergies. I asked if the store has a house card for the deals because I am just visiting. She said I can sign up and get a card. I said, "great and I will get the deals today?" She said "no, not for 24 hours." I asked if I could bring my receipt in after 24 hours to get a refund on those deals and she said no. Everything I purchased was on sale and I wanted to get that deal. I was a bit frustrated. Another customer heard the exchange and kindly let me use her card/number to get the deals. By this point, the cashier had started talking to a co-worker and never even looked at me again. I bagged my stuff, tore the receipt off the register area, and walked out. No "thank you" No "have a nice day." So....even with all the amazing experiences I had shopping....won't be back the next time I visit VB.

This rating went from 3 to 5 stars because the manager reached out to me interested in resolving the issue from my experience and that says SOOOO MUCH with Fresh Market's desire to create a positive shopping experience and provide top notch customer service!

Of course The Fresh Market is an absolutely amazing place to shop. This is a great place if you want to treat yourself, or make a great impression for date night, or something like that. Of course, there is a bit of a price point associated with the experience, but why not treat yourself sometime? And there’s high potential for aspiring connoisseurs to create something truly inspiring and amazing from the ingredients and specialized foods here. The Fresh Market is well known for its meats too, so if you have a beef specific mission, I highly recommend this place.

I love Fresh Market! They have great crab cakes. For two of them, it costs $10 and there are no fillers just crab meat. I had realized that I had not eaten the crab cakes sooner so I called Fresh Market to find out when they expired. Curtis talked to me and told me to return the other crab cakes and get new ones since they had expired even though it was my mistake. That was great news for me! Thank you, Fresh Market!

Today was my first experience here (9am), as a plant mom I was immediately excited when I noticed plants & flowers as soon as you walk in. Very clean, quiet & if you’re vegan/plant/Vegetarian they have options for us 😃. I really enjoyed my experience bc it wasn’t busy (introvert here) literally no lines, clean, the staff didn’t mind directing me to where something was. Highly recommend this place for your fresh veggies but they pretty much have everything from food to detergent (even wine).

Aside from my bad one experience of not finding enough good. This place is All freshly made food or havested food. Nice and relaxing shopping experience. I like the lighting configuration just right. Not too bright like other store. The cashiers there make you fill welcomed like home. Plus you get cash backs for returning milk class bottles. NICE!!!!!

I love their selection of specialty items. Definitely not a place I would do all my grocery shopping due to price. Best place for sashimi grade tuna

Each staff member is extremely courteous and helpful (all departments). I especially enjoy the loyalty program, which I take full advantage of. I can also find specialty items, which is fun for when I feel adventurous and want to try something new. The store is always clean and well-stocked.

Great fresh market in Virginia Beach. The service and selection was impeccable. Very busy on a Saturday afternoon. Excellent experience

Who makes the chicken salad??? I have a gift for them...I bought a pound today and I got 4 free croissants. It is so so good.. !!!! I love walking through this store it the gourmet of grocery stores with the best quality of everything a person could buy...The staff is so nice...I really love them,, Thankyou for a great shopping experience...see you soon!!! One of our favorite stores to shop because I know walking in, we are consistently greeted with fresh produce, beautiful flowers, a deli that is amazing, fresh butcher/marinated/prepared protein, the bakery is so creative, and always wrapped up with a smile from the staff. Easy to pop in and out and when you sign up for the email reminders, you receive daily emails to help plan out your day. Love FM

Fresh Market Hilltop is the best! The meat team knows what they're doing and are so friendly and helpful. Pleasant workers and incredible selections always!! Bring back the cruffins!

Ordered ribs from the deli there was a problem with them. Tony the manager took care of it effectively and friendly at the same time. Donna in the deli helped my nephew (7) and was so nice to him. Overall made a not so good experience into a good one:). Will be back and the pasta salads in the deli are ssoo good!

Fresh Market is a great food market. Their 4 meals for 20 dollars is an incredible deal. They do an exceptional job curating the store and have made a lot of very smart decisions on products. Fantastic meat counter. Fantastic cheese selection.

I love this Fresh Market. The employees are so helpful. Especially the Deli employees. They are best! I don’t come to this Fresh Market very often because I live closer to the Town Center location but whenever I’m in Hilltop area I stop in the Fresh Dawgs Market here because the customer service is top notch.

I know this may sound crazy but...this is a very SEXY grocery store! It's super clean and organized and has like ambient lighting so everything looks so fresh and inviting. It's a tad bit pricey..but if you are tired and don't feel like cooking this is the place for you.

As I mentioned in my review of the other location, near REI, I love browsing in The Fresh Market and can't pass up a chance to shop inside when I'm in Hilltop already.

Their fresh fruits and veggies are always of the best quality and I love to get raspberries, blueberries and strawberries here. The deli areas can't be beat and you can get some pre-prepped items to cook for dinner here where they already did all the hard stuff for you. Fresh fish and meats are amazing and the pastries make me drool every single time.

I always come through this or the other location to purchase snack items like sesame seeds, dried fruits and trail mix for long flights.

Beautiful fresh flowers here and they'll arrange them for you as long as the gals in that section are still there for the day. You pick the flowers and vase and browse for a few minutes and they'll do a free arrangement for you.

If you have the money, this is the place to go. It is a pretty cool experience to shop here, and if your craving something special or from another country, it will be here.

I love the snooty air of this place.. they also have great flowers, baked goods, my favorite butcher, and a large selection of craft beer and wine. It's also fun to have the staff and patrons give me those "you don't really belong here" glances.

Upscale place. Very welcoming. They've got some Beethoven music playing in the background. The staff at the deli and meat counter are great people. Very respectful ! Cashiers are nice too.
