I absolutely enjoyed my shaman tour with rodolfo. He was friendly and informed, and very patient translating for folks on the tour who spoke neither English or Spanish. We visited protected Bri Bri territory, visiting a traditional awoc and learned about the cosmography of the culture, as well as received a cleanse and blessing for our travels. Then we visited a traditional farm, where rodolfo showed us different plants and their uses, pulling lots of leaves and plants for us to touch, smell and taste. Then we made chocolate with Dona rosa’s family and had a delicious and simple lunch. Truly a highlight! Booking with tirza was easy and they offer lots of other tour options that I would have taken, had there been time. They work closely, fairly and ethically with the indigenous community. I highly recommend.

I have learned that taking a cooking class when I travel is a great way to experience the local culture, so my wife and I had the pleasure of attending the Caribbean cooking class through Life Culture Travel Costa Rica. To begin with, we were asked what we would like for our protein. We chose seafood, but you are free to choose something else if you are not a fan of seafood. We were transported by the owner of this company to the class. She is a very kind person with a great connection to the community and great aspirations for the present and future. We attended the class with Glenda and learned about the local culture and the Jamaican influence within. Glenda is a wonderful person and a great cook. We learned some great recipes using local produce and fish, and we also learned how to make our own coconut milk. The combination of spices and coconut made a delicious meal that will become a part of my regular cooking routine. If you are looking for something to do in Puerto Viejo, Limón, do yourself a favor and book something with this company. You will not be disappointed.

Phenomenal experience. Authentic and educational time with the indigenous tribe. Got to try some authentic chocolate and raw cacao fruit (delicious!). We did the waterfall tour and it felt so beautiful and sacred to be near that water.

We booked a Chocolate Tour in an Bri Bri village with Life Culture & Travel and we loved it!!! We highly recommend booking with Life Culture & Travel because they support the indegenous Bri Bri families, create jobs and unlike some commercial agencies, the money you pay really reach the Bri Bri families. Our guide Tirza is Bri Bri and was so knowledgeable about the culture, the fruits, the medical plants and the traditions. You can see that she loves her job and is really passionate. We spend 4 hours at a Bri Bri family, learned everything about cacao and all the plants and fruits the have in their garden. We even helped in making traditional chocolate paste and eat it (with sweet Banana) and drink hot Chocolate (mixed with hot water). It was such a special tour and we loved it!!! Thank you Tirza :-)

I am an experienced traveler and tourism professional therefore quite picky about the tours and trips I choose at a given destination. I always want to make sure that the agency/guide supports and prioritize sustainable tourism and that locals can somehow benefit from it. This is how I found Tirza and Life Culture & Travel.

I and my partner participated in one of the Culture Trips and visited an indigenous family at one of the Bribri communities near Puerto Viejo. Magical and exceptional are the two words that come to mind about the tour. The hosting family welcomed us extremely kindly, and they told us about their history, culture, and everyday life. After the conversation, they took us for a walk on their beautiful property, where we also got to know the local flora, plants, trees, and herbs. We learned the traditional way of processing cocoa and even had the chance to try its making. The divine chocolate tasting was just icing on the cake. At the end of the trip, we refreshed ourselves at a beautiful waterfall.

It was an unforgettable experience, we will definitely return to participate in other programs and tours.

Indigenous people live in harmony with nature and respect it, from which we have unfortunately completely got disconnected in our modern world. This trip can bring us closer to our core values ​​and remind us of what is really important.

We did the Bribri & waterfalls tour, Cahuita tour and kayaking on Gandoca lagoon. Teresa was great, very helpful in organising all the tours and was our guide for the Bribri tour which was amazing and felt really authentic. Our Cahuita guide, Cristian was knowledgable and helpful throughout. Highly recommend!

Dercia took us to spend time with the Bri Bri tribe and it was absolutely life changing. Dercia did a phenomenal job explaining the culture and translating when speaking with the shaman/awa. It was so cool to see such a beautiful culture and way of life preserved. It was so humbling to be fed but such hardworking people. Fresh cacao is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend this experience.

We did the BriBri chocolate and waterfall half day tour thru Tirsa's company. She is Bribri herself and very active in her community. Rudolfo led our tour. He was very knowledgeable about the BriBri way of life and has interacts well with a variety of individuals (had several friends that all did this tour at different times and all came away with something different! You get to learn about a variety of medicinal plants and participate in all stages of chocolate making (including tasting some unique chocolate combinations). You can get this tour for slightly cheaper thru other companies, but the extra money is worth it for the personal touch and knowledge (and small tour size and flexible options-we were there in low season but only had 2 people in our group whereas some of the other groups obviously had way more)

We had an amazing time in Costa Rica due, in part, to the wonderful experiences we had via Life, Culture & Travel Costa Rica. We highly recommend the dolphin tour and the cooking class with Glenda. Our guides were knowledgeable and friendly!

El baño del bosque es una experiencia inolvidable, con vistas increíbles, y aprendizaje sobre animales y plantas, acompañada por una guía súper amable con un conocimiento de la naturaleza tan profunda. Me encantó la oportunidad de despertar los sentidos, conectar con los árboles y las mujeres en este camino, y de aprender más sobre la tribu bribri y su conexión espiritual a la tierra. Nous avons passé un moment formidable au Costa Rica grâce, en partie, a expérience que nous avons vécues via Life Culture Travel Costa Rica la visite de la communauté BRIBRI. expérience enrichissante découverte de leur mode de vie a faire absolument.

Nous avons participer à une immersion sur une demi journée dans une famille BríBrí et ce fut une très belle aventure qui nous a été permis de vivre. Ce n'était pas du tout un tour type "show", mais plus comme un partage de son mode de vie.
La guide, aussi la gérante de l'agence, est elle même BríBrí et a pour volonté de faire découvrir sa culture et ses origines.
Au vu de l'expérience vécue et des discussions que nous avons pu avoir, je recommande vivement de réaliser cette immersion et de partir avec cette agence. N'hésitez pas à prendre le lunch (pour un petit supplément de 5$), tout était organique, frais et délicieux !

Nous avons réservé 2 tours,
Visite du canal qui mènent vers tortugero ( si vous désirez visitez tortugero il faut prévoir 1 nuit minimum , le trajet pour y parvenir via le canal dure 3-4 h)

La visite était splendide , crocodile ,singe et autre vie sauvage expliquée à chaque fois dans les detail

Et le lendemain , cours de cuisine dans un village BRIBRI
indigène de la région
