Restaurante Riquísimo

Food was great for the price. Had similar food in much more expensive places. Carribean chicken fell off the bone, traditional rice and beans were great. We shared one entree and it was a good lunch amount for two. Server was courteous and helped us find a cocktail with traditional liquor with our broken Spanish. English menus which was helpful to us. Cute location. Would recommend for a casual lunch or dinner.

One of the best meals I had in Costa Rica. The food is amazing, and the juices out of the world. I loved both the Casado, super tasty, and the passion fruit juice, it was ice cold and super nice.

We were recommended the place by local friends and the food didn't disappoint. The helpings were big and authentic to the Caribbean Costa Rican fusion. Food took longer than expected to come out even though it was almost empty with guests. Bathroom facilities were quite poor though.

Oh my goshhh it’s SO good! I got the shrimp with coconut/curry sauce, the traditional casado, and a banana smoothie. We were craving Caribbean food that wasn’t too expensive, and this was perfect. The service was also extremely friendly.

We have had breakfast here quite a few times the cost and portion sizes were pretty decent. My son had eggs with Caribbean sauce huevos rancheros he wasn’t a fan especially of the cheese it was nasty 🤮 I agree but the fried bake was my fave. The bacon is not bacon like we are accustomed to so beware. And whatever the sauce is doesn’t need all the stuff they put in it especially cucumbers so strange. We love the hiel here however but the price tag doesn’t align with the amount you get imo. Should be less money or more drink for that price.

Delicious, good service. Bigger choice of dishes in comparison to other sodas/restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Also try the Guayabana Juice

This was the first spot we ate at in puerto viejo. It was so good we came back so it would be our last. Can’t go wrong with any choice. The people are nice and the place is very clean too.

Best authentic food here. This place is the best choice for breakfast. After compared with another restaurants, we came back to this place. They have Gallo Pinto, Carados, Patacones. Egg Ranchero style is awesome too. The last day we went here for breakfast & lunch! Love it. This place is a gem!

Good food, fun location (right on highway), large portions, and good prices ($5-$8 dinner plate). They have some interesting choices, including this chicken with coconut curry. Not pictured is "girl" which is a drink with ginger in it. Interesting, but probably not a favorite for many (kinda burns).

BEST Carribbean Soda restaurant in Puerto Viejo. If you're looking for a delicious and wallet-friendly spot - this is the place!

I've tried 3 dishes the various times I've been there:

1. Casado - Chuleta ahumada en salsa caribena
2. Casado - Pollo en salsa caribena
3. Casado - Filet de pescado a la plancha

There it is - in the order of my favorites. The chuleta ahumada is a little bit spicy but definitely edible (for those who can't eat spicy - me!). It was absolutely delicious, the chuleta was soft, sweet and spicy with the carribbean coconut flavor and of course the rice is cooked with coconut milk. Definitely my hands-down favorite here at Soda riquisimo.

My second favorite has to be the pollo en salsa caribena. Every time I come here, I can't decide which one i want - chuleta or pollo. It is a tough decision! The pollo en salsa caribena is sweet coconuty flavored. Both are just absolutely delicious and leaves you super full for the rest of the day. If you ask me where to go - I would definitely say Soda Riquisimo if you're in Puerto Viejo area - otherwise go to their sister restaurant Sol el Caribe just down the road in Cocles. You can't go wrong with either of these two places :)

Lastly, I have to mention that the pescado was ok - nothing to really write home about. Just your regular casado con pescado but it's not horrible and it's not epic . I just really wanted fish that day :)

Simply the BEST! This is where I discovered that Rice and Beans If different than Arroz con frijoles. Rice and Beans is made with coconut milk and is a GAME CHANGER! Plus I love the fish “al ajillo”. Yum! We are here 4 times in 3 days.

A popular spot. Friendly staff and good local style food. Service was quick given how busy restaurant was. Well priced too. Would return.

Gotta give credit where credit is due. Place had great food, service and locale. Simple, clean, and fair priced. Love their Caribbean chicken with rice and beans.
