Donde Cope

This place was fantastic. So many Brids. Very cool setup. Lots of hummingbirds. Toucans, Red legged honey catchers... more than I know the names of all of them.

Cope is a wonderful guide. He took me to nearby forest to search for owls. He showed me bats under big leaves. His garden is full of birds. He is very nice to treat his guests.

Excellent bird haven! Saw many hummingbirds, orapendula, vented pigeons, brown thrush, green heron, rail, pigmy kingfisher and more! Enjoyed a tasty homemade lunch before participating in a walk in the forest to look for white bats and owls.

This is a way to get a real feel for Costa Rico Cope the host is a local artist who has an amazing bird garden and knowledge of the area and will take you on a special tour through the jungle. Be sure to check out his art I couldn’t resist a print which he will sign!

Cope is a great artist and a great guide. The grounds of his home are part wildlife habitat and part natural photo studio. Worth a visit. Worth getting Cope to show you some of the interesting birds and wildlife of the area.

This was an amazing experience. Donde is the most welcoming host and the hide is outstanding. We arrived when the place was exclusively reserved for a group, but Donde led us to his private garden and later to the hide. There is an unbelievable abundance of hummingbirds, which fly to you just half a meter away. There are a lot of other birds as well which are only a few meters away. We didn't want to overuse Dondes hospitality and left after a short time. But I could probably have stayed for hours. Better call ahead to avoid unpleasant surprises. But go there! Easy to find with Google Maps , otherwise not so easy to find. Thanks, Donde!

Great place in mid elevations of costa Rica for bird photography, one can cool get couple of dozen birds species, birding deck is conveniently located, easily accessible from main road

I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Costa Rica. Cope and his wife have created a wildlife mecca in the middle of a small town. We had amazing views of beautiful birds coming to his many feeders including hummingbirds, tanagers, toucanets. Great for photographers and families alike.

What a wonderful place. For the 90 minutes we were in the bird blind there was a nonstop parade of birds. Many different species of hummingbirds, kingfishers, parakeets, dove, etc. We even saw a sloth on the property.

An excellent place to see many different species of birds. Cope is very knowledgeable and a great host. He is also an amazing artist.

Si recorres Costa Rica pajareando, y pasas cerca de esta zona, no puedes dejar de pasar por "Donde Cope", tiene uno de los mejores comederos para fotografiar aves de la zona, es un lugar visitado por multitud de especies, y los colibris son incansables. Alli fotografié el pico de hoz, pero habia reptiles,, perezosos, limícolas.... ibas de sorpresa en sorpresa, y por si fuera poco, luego te ibas a pajarear con el a una zona de selva cercana, y la conocía mejor que su propia casa, cada rincon, cada camino, y todos sus habitantes. Es un gran fotógrafo, conocedor del medio y de las cámaras, pero además es un artista, tiene pinturas de aves y animales de la zona muy buenas. Cope es un personaje imprescindible de conocer en Costa Rica. Nosotros solo estuvimos una tarde con él, pero poder pajarear con el una semana seguida tiene que ser una experiencia única. Es un genio.
Somos una pareja de León (España) y soñamos con volver cuando pase todo este lío en el que estamos metidos. Aquelo es Pura Vida de verdad.

Un hermoso jardín que cuenta con una pequeña laguna donde todos los días es visitada por varias especies de aves, cuenta con un lugar muy cómodo para observar aves y fotografíar aves cómodamente, atendido por su propietarios quien es un experto guía y fotógrafo ñ, que se caracteriza por siempre estar atento y compartir algunos tips en la observación y fotografía de aves para que te lleves un buen recuerdo de las aves que se observan en el lugar.

Un super lugar para la observación de aves con el experto Cope y probar la cuchara de Reina (su esposa ) que cocina delicioso.
