Pierella Ecological Garden

This visit was one of the highlights of our trip! Ella gave us a wonderful personalized visit. Apart from the amazing visit of the butterfly and caterpillar collections, we were able to see local wildlife (bats, frogs, sloth, insects and a large variety of birds and flowers and learn about the production of cocoa). The property is beautiful and the small meal (fruit & chocolate made on-site) completed a perfect 2 hour visit. I highly recommend a visit!

Wow wow wow! What a special place that is! Its not only beautiful and educative but the owners and guides absolutly love what they do and spread the joy! Our kids loved every bit of it! It was a highlight of our wholw costa rica holiday- a treasure to be found!

Amazing place! Kristal taught us all about butterflies, we saw sloths, various bats, birds, frogs, monkeys and so much more. All in their very own rainforest. Perfect for little kids because they don‘t have to walk far to see animals. A very delicous typical costa rican lunch was included and also chocolate making. This place is so much better than the over-priced butterfly gardens in La Fortuna or Monteverde!!

One of Costa Rica's best kept secrets. It is owned and run by two incredibly passionate Costa Ricans (Krystal & William) who have converted grass pasture into an ecological forest paradise. Sloths (both kinds), white tent bats, macaws, porcupines, red eyed tree frogs and many other birds, amphibians, insect and plant life. They have a thousand cacao trees and make their own chocolate and will show you the process too. We had an incredible lunch cooked on a wood fire. Everything was incredible. It's also a working butterfly farm. A must see in Costa Rica.

I cannot recommend the place more! Its a family-run reserve and I believe the owner's nephew gave us a tour. Cacao tasting, and lots of birds, monkeys, butterflies, a sloth, and white bats!! Everyone is passionate about what they do and it was a joy to be welcomed there. I would recommend anyone passing by to stop there. Gracias por todo!

The owner is very knowledgeable and good to take you around and guide you on a 2 hr hike.

The host will take you to explore their beautiful garden explaining everything about their butterfly reserve. Lots of wild life to be seen there! We've also appreciated the nice food and breakfast. A must on the area.

An amazing place!! Joseph was our friendly and knowledgeable guide through this beautiful home to butterflies, sloth, porcupines, lizards, birds, white bats, tropical plants, flowers, and much, much, more!! And the included lunch was absolutely delicious. This is a must-do if you visit Costa Rica!

We drove by unannounced, but this was no problem at all. We had a fantastic tour from Joseph. The people are very friendly and take their time. Joseph showed us beautiful creatures and plants. It was the best tour and guide so far. Thank you!

One of the most incredible places I've seen in this world and in Costa Rica. I've never seen a family so close to all sort of animals, and so involved in nature's protection. They did a wonderful job to replant acres of forest and raise butterflies. You can also easily spot all kind of tropical birds, frogs, reptiles and sloths, accompagnied by great hosts. A must do!

Such a nice little gem this place. We had a wonderful tour guided by Krystal where we've seen many species of wildlife and learned so much from her. The rest of the crew was also helpful and friendly. We've also joined for the dinner and it was quite a feast. The whole garden project is a great initiative and deserves as much support as possible. Highly recommended, you won't regret it.
