Absolutely beautiful place all the way to the lagoon which is the old volvano caldron. Be prepared for a rustic experience with only partially paved roads and very limited parking close by, have good hiking shoes and lots of water cause there is almost none too be found at the park. Well worth it to see the area great view and fun hikes. Took us several hours to get back to the closest town then long time from there to San Jose.😎😎😎

The most extreme breathtaking rain forest in this beautiful country. Deepest jungle in the region.

We booked a 6 in 1 tour package and had a great time. Our guide Fabian was awesome, friendly and funny. He had an assistant, but can't remember his name also very nice. The park is very pretty and the staff super friendly. Highly recommend you go and do some of their tours.

This is a lovely walk - you first enter through a place where you have to sign yourself in and can make a "donation" to the preserve. You can hire a tour guide who are very good at spotting wild life or you can trek it alone.

The path is rather wide and there are a lot of people on it, so you don't have to worry about being in the jungle alone. You really have to keep your eyes peeled for the wildlife, they love to blend in. All except the monkeys, you'll know if a monkey is around LOL! I a lot of wildlife.

The trail ended for me at a river crossing that was particularly deep on that day. The path keeps going and when the weather clears up from the rainy season the river goes down and is cross able. A few tourists were debating folding the river when it was deep until a guide told them that there were cayman in the water and he wouldn't recommend it. So- they thought better of it!

Anyway you should definitely take time to see this cite. It is a nice long walk and it's a bit like playing where's Waldo with the wildlife.

The park is beautiful. There is two different locations, 2 hr drive in between. I highly recommend the one on the volcano. It’s 2900 m above the sea level and pretty cold, but the forest is very beautiful! You have to consider that the last 4 km to the entrance of the park are very ruff, it’s better to have an suv, the road is in a truly terrible condition. But once you get to the park, you’ll see that it was worth it. The other park is much smaller, it will probably take only 1,5 hrs of hike. If you go to the volcano, there is a possibility to see the two craters. Highly recommended!

Amazing trail, filled with life basically. The road there is tricky, though. Incredible country!

We entered the Barva sector.

First off, the drive up to this entrance is terrible due to the roads, especially during the rainy season. We had to park 1 mile away due to the road being so bad. And we had a 4 wheel drive. Our guide was afraid he would puncture a tire, and I don't blame him. It's that bad. So don't think you'll rent a regular vehicle and get to the gate entrance if the roads are still bad. Even in 4 wheel drive, you might find you have to walk a mile to get to the gate.

Hike to the crater lake was great but a few recommendations. Bring water. Bring hiking sticks/poles. And wear nice hiking boots or shoes and not regular tennis shoes. This is a moderately hard hike so it's not a stroll through the park. So be prepared. It's basically all uphill from the time you park to the time you reach the crater/lake.

You also need reservations and you need to bring ID and/or passport to verify your reservation.

So get ready and be prepared.

Beautiful, highly recommend to anyone who likes nature walks. We saw some cute sloths and Tucans. You can hike on your own using a very clear and safe trail or take a guided tour. Even the drive through the park is worth it!

Breathtaking views that remind you why nature is such a magnificent artist.
The vistas that line the highway as you drive into the forest call out to you to stop and take pictures and remind yourself why conserving and protecting nature is so important to our planet.

Really nice rainforest park. It have entrance at Quebrada Gonzalez park office, bur you could see the surroundings by the road 32 that go across the park, but be carefull that the side of the road have some really dangerous sides on sections of the road, and the traffic is dangerous too, also some places are risks of landslides from up the mountains, but even cross by the road is very beautiful views.

Beautiful cloud forest. The flora and fauna are impressive. This is a cloud forest so it rains A LOT. So be prepared and take a raincoat and baseball cap to keep the rain out of your eyes.
