El Pelicano Restaurant

Love it! Right on the sand in front of the water where we could enjoy our drinks and the kids could play. Food is great and Indira was wonderful! Also makes a mean margarita! Likes it so much, we came 2 days in a row! Can’t beat the comfort Andy parking is free And right in front of the restaurant if lucky!

We enjoyed the restaurant as it is in front of the sea and it is more calm. We had 2 dishes a ceviche that was very good because it had a bice combination of flavors ( i believe it is best to share the dish) and we had shrimp that were finely cooked but nothing spectacular. The staff was nice and the service was fast. We had Margaritas that were delicious.

During our last day in Costa Rica, we wanted somewhere amazing to eat at, and we chose properly! The food was delicious, priced well, and made exactly as described. The service was perfect. The restaurant was clean. There is outdoor seating and kids plates available. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful! I had the arroz con pollo, our child had pasta, and my husband ate the mariscos.

We dined here twice on the same trip, once as a couple and once with the full family (parents and kids).

The second visit they cooked up the fish we caught that day and brought to them from a deep sea fishing trip (sashimi style tuna and mahi mahi 3 ways - blackened, grilled, and fried). All of it was excellent both times, the filet mignon was super tender and a very fair price but the flambé seafood was worth it for the show alone, but the seafood had a hint of brandy taste to it and was fresh and tasted amazing as well.

Tamarind margaritas aren’t on the menu anymore, but they served them to us and if they have them they are delicious.

The view is unbeatable and right on the ocean, the kids ran down the beach finding little beach crabs while we chatted over our pre dinner cocktails. Great experience

If you do go make sure you order this - a bit pricey but well worth it

mahi-mahi.

Only 4 stars for service & lighting only because it was a little slow and dark where we were sitting. Our table was very dark with the umbrella. Everything else was absolutely perfect. The sunset was incredible just like the food and atmosphere.

We had the Surf & Turf, shrimp tacos and a spaghetti. The surf & turf was a whole show. They lit our plates on fire! The ñn we all had a different desert and I think my favorite was the chocolate cake. I had pecan pie and my husband had flan de coco and the other was crumble.

I only wish we discovered this part of the beach earlier in our stay, it's a little hidden paradise!

Highly recommend E Pelicano. Very fresh food choices. Excellent service. Chris was our server and was fantastic. We ended up going two nights in a row. Its definitely a CR vibe. Drinks were superb! The regular drink prices are very affordable but be Careful if you upgrade liquor as it can be pricey.

Awesome food and drinks right on the beach. This is the place to take your catch for a 3-way prep(fried, blackened and grilled).

Fresh seafood, tasty dishes, and great service with a view! We had 6 different dishes and everyone enjoyed their food! The whole snapper is a must!

On the flight to Costa Rica, other man sitting next to us recommended El Pelicano. We waited until our last night to go here. Big mistake. I wish we would have gone earlier in the week as we would have been back more often. The fish was fresh and delicious. Prepared grilled, steamed or fried. I had the grilled shrimp and the shrimp were huge. It was right in the water and a perfect place for sunset. There are a few dishes prepared table side and flambéed.

The food is so good & the presentation, fabulous! Don't let the shack-looking building fool you. We even had Filet Mignon cooked to perfection (med-rare)!

What a great restaurant!! The best food we had on our visit to Costa Rica. Wonderful atmosphere by the beach. Service was great. We went with a group of 8 and had appetizers, entrees, drinks. Tried Tuna Tatar, Ceviche, patacones, seabass, Gallo pinto and more. Everything was delicious...
Bring your appetite as the portions are big. Highly recommend!!

Used to go to Coco's. Never again. One (same) waitress at Coco's has been disrespectful 2 times to my wife. Management refuses to address it.
So right next door is this great place. Loved it.

Giving this place a 5 because the food was totally amazing!!! The service I wasn't impressed with, but the food and drinks made up for it. We went at night so couldn't enjoy the view of the waves but I'm sure is beautiful during the day as well. Please try the lobster, It was done to perfection. Whenever I go back to CR, I'll be there.

Excellent restaurant that is across the street from the beach. Very nice staff, full bar and plenty of beer choices including American beer. Try the ice tea! Portions are large and prices are very reasonable. The sunset was just amazing!

Best restaurant we ate at during our 8 days in CR. Lobster tacos are no longer on the menu but they still make them. 3 large tacos. Sambuca shirm were amazing as well. Good spot for sunsets! Expensive but worth it

Love this place! Amazing views, friendly staff and great food. Yellow fin tuna burger was great and so were the fish tacos!

Gerald along with the rest of the crew are very attentive. Sopa de Mariscus are really good!
I was skeptical with the black pasta but it was really good and I’m glad I tried it!…

If our trip to Costa Rica were a culinary extravaganza, then we are glad to have discovered El Pelican. We did not know about this gem until after our fishing trip when we encountered the biggest dilemma - " where to go and get the catch of the day cooked for us? So, the Captain of the boat recommended this restaurant. First off, let me tell you about the location. It is well-appointed towards the bay, and one could enjoy the most beautiful sunset here. So, come around the time before sunset to get a table with a view.  We went on a fishing trip the same day, and we caught yellowfin tuna. So the host offered to prepare the fish in different ways, and we accepted. We got sashimi, poke tuna for an appetizer. Then the main dish was blackened tuna. We loved the very balanced side dishes. Here we also ate ceviche, and according to the host, their ceviche won the local competitions' prize a year ago. The best part of our experience was the hospitality of the staff. They offered to freeze the rest of our fish and keep it for us upon our return to Jaco. Basically, we were getting ready to depart for Monteverde the next morning and travel throughout Costa Rica for 10 days before returning to Jaco.

The service and people at this restaurant were great! We took the fresh catch from our charter and the Chef put together an amazing spread for us.

This was our last night in Costa Rica and a great way to end our visit and finish up our Honeymoon!
