Natural Camping Arenal Volcano

We camped at Natural Arenal Volcano Campsite for 3 nights during our stay here. Anthony was so welcoming and friendly, he showed us to our campsite and pointed out a sloth in one of the trees along the way. Throughout our stay we tried coconuts, sugar cane, caviar lemon and star fruit which are all grown on his family’s 80 acre property. It is a beautiful spot to camp and very close to the town of la Fortuna where a lot of activities are located. We would recommend this place and would definitely return. Thank you Anthony and family!

What a wonderful discovery this place was! We went because we were looking for somewhere to camp relatively close to La Fortuna Waterfall - in the end we stayed an extra day just to hang out on the campsite and farm. Antony is a wonderful host - so friendly and accommodating and informative. The campsite is new (6 months old) and his baby… but the 100acre farm has been in his family for 90 years. This stay was an absolute highlight… partly because of him and his charming hospitality but also because the farm is beautiful and it was easy to spend a day swimming and chilling by the river and just enjoying the wildlife and peace and quiet. If i could give this place 6 stars I would.

Great spot to camp and such a welcoming host. One of the best campsites we visited on our two week trip from the UK to Costa Rica.

All of our experiences in Costa Rica were different, but the night and morning we spent at NCAV were surreal. We arrived just after dark when Anthony warmly greeted us at the entrance with a free coconut which he chopped off of a tree and prepared for us while we were getting out of the car. He told us a bit about the camping area and the sloths on the property while we drank from our coconut. He then he handed us a small organic banana (also grown on the property) to round out the best welcome basket you could ask for after a long drive. He led us to the camping area in his vehicle (approx. 500 meters from the entrance) and showed us where we could set up. The camping area holds 2 bathrooms, running water, and an above-ground swimming pool that overlooks La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano. Anthony asked us if we wanted a free tour of the property the next morning to see some of the wildlife on the property and a 200+ year old tree next to the river. During our walk/hike/ATV ride that morning, Anthony pointed out a sleeping sloth in a tree just off the road. It was the first sloth we had ever seen and was such a nice surprise as we were just looking for a comfortable place to camp for 1 night. I wish we could have stayed longer, and in hindsight should have, as nothing else in La Fortuna quite struck our fancy like our time on Anthony's family farm. Pura Vida Mae!!! We will be back.

We were so lucky to come across Anthony and his families beautiful farm, the enthusiasm he had was unreal, he showed us around and we loved it! We really loved how much he cared for what he was setting up there on the farm, for people to stay and have a great time, and get a really unique experience! We saw lots of wildlife, and felt like we had the whole farm to ourselves, lots of space for cars/rooftop tents etc! And the facilities are great! We hope that anyone that stays, notices how much love goes into the farm and treats it with full respect! After 2 weeks of driving around Costa Rica, these 2 nights were our favourite!

I’m so happy with my visit here. I saw a lot animals, I swam in the river and the water was amazing, the view is just incredible. Everyone is super nice.
I would 100% recommend the place and would definitely go again.

Such a gem. Really nice place. Love the nature, saw alot of wild animals. Swam in the river and had such a nice time here. The host its such a nice person. Gave me many fruits, etc chocolate fruit.

Really such a nice place. We have been there in a group of 3 people, they offered tends, matresses, a grill for barbecuing and a lot of other stuff (like cuttlery, a stove running with gas, extra gas and a bunch of stuff to cook with). They even brought us wood for having a nice fire. Anthony is a super nice Guy, he is helping with locations near La Fortuna, giving nice recommendations and there is also a river where you can have a nice bath as well. An awesome view is inclusive, you are feeling like standing next to the volcano and there is drinkable water, directly from the clear river, which tastes better than every filtered water i ever tasted. You can have a swim in the river as well! So don't even hesitate to go there and feel like home.

We wanted to stay here but they were closed for improvements. But that didn't stop Anthony from giving us a fantastic tour of the property. We will definitely be back to stay in the future!

Anthony and his family are great hosts. We really enjoyed our stay here. Our plan was 1 night only but in the end stayed for 3 nights and drove to La Fortuna from there each day. There is drinking water, shower, campfire, shelter for tents, and plenty of space to enjoy the peace.

Great view of the colcano! Quiet, except for the sound of the river and the birds. Forest to explore. Very friendly family. They have a couple bathrooms that are new and clean. Perfect stay.

Anthony and Alejandra were attentive and genuinely nice hosts. You can tell this is a labor of love to build something special. The land is beautiful, the river is cool and clear. You can swim, fish or catch frogs with your Littles. You camp up on this amazing hill with a view of Arenal volcano and everything around you. Bathroom facilities are clean and well maintained. Water pressure is good and toilet flushes well. We were only here one night but it was special.

Super recommended, the place is beautiful and relaxing. 20 out of 10. You can see many animals and enjoy a precious Arenal Volcano sight.

You can spend a wonderfull night camping in the middle of the nature, and being awake the next morning by the chirps of birds and the amazing sunset

El lugar es increíble. Todo muy limpio, organizado y con vistas estupendas del volcán Arenal. El río fantástico, piscina pequeña y ranchos. No cuenta con electricidad. Muy Recomendado! 👌

Muito espaço para acampar, sossegado, em meio ao verde da fazenda e com uma vista única para o vulcão Arenal. Anthony foi muito solícito, nos recebeu com agua de coco e ainda fez uma fogueira pra gente. Como chegamos ao entardecer e saimos cedo, não aproveitamos o rio e trilhas que tem dentro do camping. Banheiros limpos. Não utilizamos a área comum. Pagamos 5.000 coloones/pessoa.

De mooiste en gaafste camping die we hebben mogen bezoeken tijdens onze roadtrip door Costa Rica. Het is de ideale uitvalsbasis om de regio la Fortuna te bezoeken, maar eigenlijk is er bij de camping zelf al genoeg moois te vinden. Daarnaast was de eigenaar erg enthousiast, vriendelijk, en behulpzaam. Dit maakte het verblijf onwijs prettig. We zijn uiteindelijk ook een extra nachtje gebleven. We denken er met veel plezier aan terug.

Un lugar muy agradable, con una vista increíble ( cuando el clima lo permite) . Riquísimo ir al río, tiene mucho para disfrutar y lugares cerca para visitar.
