Starfish Cayo Santa Maria

The resort was very nice, the rooms were kept very clean and the bartenders and servers were all very kind. the best part I would say was the entertainment staff but especially Leonardo he was very kind to me and my family the whole week we were there and always made us feel comfortable. Amazing guy!

Beach is 1000% the best I’ve been too. The entertainment team is great. They have great activities at the pool and on the beach. Joryan is especially great with everyone. Very friendly and inviting ! I recommend taking your time to check out this location on your next visit to Cuba ! Especially for the beach !

Just came home from a girls trip for 7 days to Starfish. When I tell you this hotel is the BEST I mean it! The rooms were accommodating and beautiful. I love how they still have the cuban flare and arnt so modern like some of the other hotels around. The hotel landscape is very well kept. Lighting could be a little better on some of the walk ways. Entertainment staff are always on the go, day and night. Very friendly and if you are wanting to learn more about cuban culture they are always willing to update your knowledge. We will be back next year, can't wait to see the upgrades/ renovations happening now. Thank you Starfish for the memorable trip.

I stayed at the Starfish Resort from February 26 - March 2, 2024. I had an amazing time at this resort due to the friendly staff, good service, and many amenities. Some areas of the resort were under renovation, however, this did not disturb our experience at all. I found the rooms to be quite comfortable and the cleaning staff were very accommodating and kind. On our first day we were pleased to meet entertainment staff member, Leonel, who checked in with us each day following our arrival making us feel very safe and welcomed at all times. The buffet and snack bar were somewhat limited at times which is not abnormal in Cuba and I still managed to eat well each day. Special thanks goes to Jonathan, Yulianny, and Yuliet, who happily served us at the buffet all week long. They were so very kind and helpful to us each day while maintaining professionalism as well. The beach front at this resort - breathtaking. It is a windier spot than other places but this was actually quite nice for us. Overall, my stay was amazing and I cant thank the staff enough for how very kind and welcoming they are. I have been to a resort in Varadero previously, and although it was a great experience there as well, I would love to return to the Starfish during my next trip back to Cuba.

This resort was amazing. The staff are absolutely wonderful and create the most fun and relaxing vacation. The hotel is located on the most beautiful section of the beach and has a massive pool that is stunning. The rooms are clean and the cleaning staff are amazing at making sure it is perfect for your whole stay. At times food options were relatively limited, however this is the case for a lot of resorts in cuba. Nevertheless the food was delicious, especially the at the grill in the buffet and the snack bar. Part of the hotel is currently under reservation so the theatre was closed and the grill as well but it did not make much of a difference for our stay. I would 100% go back to this resort. Absolutely wonderful place and beautiful people through and through. Special shout-out to Leonel, Yulianny, and Yuliet who made our stay extra special. Can’t wait to go back!

The beach here is absolutely gorgeous! The entertainment staff works hard to make the stay extra enjoyable. Muchas gracias, Rodrigo y Eric y Lionel!

The pool was always empty(pool was cold) the ocean had a Red Flag the entire week..the ocean is bit warmer than the pool. (Dec-February is a bit cooler weather)

Bring a jacket/long pants for the evening..it does get chilly.

The staff are awesome and hotel is kept clean.

Plenty of drinks to enjoy at the bar!

The food was good the whole week..last 3 days they ran out of eggs..no big deal.

Do tip your maid,servers,gardeners and bartenders..they really do appreciate it!

The bus ride to and from the airport is about 1.5 hrs give or take. (Good sightseeing..enjoy)

Huge bedroom and very comfy bed. Friendly staff. Easy access to the white sandy beach, the blue water is amazing. Good food buffet and grill options.

After I made some research in hotels along the coast of Cayo de Santa María, I took the decision for choosing STARFISH as the place to spend the last days of my holiday in Cuba. It's proven to be a GREAT choise. Despite of some few bad opinions and reviews from Google Maps users about Cuban hotels along the north coast, this hotel was a pleasant good surprise for me. Starfish has the best wide and cleanest beach from Cayo Santa María. Ocean's water here is one of the best and clearest I've ever seen before ( I do not make a mistake to compare this Caribbean seaside with the water from Palawan El Nido, Coron Philippines, Mauritius, Riviera Maya or even Maldives Islands). Focus on the Hotel issues, the room is spacious enough, sufficient equipped with all you need, the balcony is a great place to enjoy an ocean view from above, and not in the end, a objective point of view regarding the Food: despite of some bad reviews on this delicate stuff, if You are a Fan of Seafood and Fish, definitely you will find everything as being on your taste, delicious and fresh, marinated or ready to cook on grill as well as side dishes. The hotel staff is very kind and helpful,, nothing to complain as well at this point too Overall, we have to accept that we are in Cuba, therefore, the finishings and some details around are not like for an high-end 5 stars hotel from French Riviera (and also the prices :) . But is still a good value for the money and an enjoyable experience for people who really want to explore new cultures and new places like I do. If I have a second chance to come back, Yes, definitely no doubt I would choose STARFISH again from the reasons I mentioned before. Special thanks for all the managers and the staff of Starfish, who are doing their best for the clients services and satisfaction !

Sometimes u just gotta go, yolo, and do what you want... (Everyday you get fed, I believe they will make your bed and you get a nice beach, cheaper than living in Toronto)

The beach is so good !! The entertainment team is amazing here it is great especially Robrigo he is the life of the party! He hypes everyone up!

We stayed at the Starfish from 30.05 to 6.06.2023.
It was a wonderful and unforgettable vacation. We arrived in the rainy season but the weather was perfect. The room we were given was very basic. On the plus side, the bed was huge. Wonderful beach with white sand. The sea was warm and clean. They fed us three times a day. The food was good. There was always a choice. Of alcohol they poured beer, wine and rum. As much as you wanted. The staff was friendly and helpful.
In general, we were satisfied with the rest and the hotel.

Best service second time here and ❤ it people are amazing !!! Entrainment team awesome Yazzy, Rodrigo, Eduardo, Lionel and Juan Carlos amazing bunch !!!!!

This is our second time here and I strongly recommend. The staff are the best feature of this resort since they are the kindest and most professional ones we have yet to meet. The entertainment team is always willing to be available for all of us and ensure everyone is having a great time. We are looking forward to our best trip very soon and definitely will be back at Starfish Cayo Santa Maria. ☀🏝❤

Just arrived back from the Starfish Cayo Santa Maria. The resort is going through major renovations. Half of it is completely closed off and only three residential units are operational on the side that is open. The main dinning hall is closed and so are the restaurants. One buffet is open. The pools are wonderful with swim-up bar. The beach is immaculate with clear water and soft (powder like) sand. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Personal, I enjoyed the smaller crowd of people which meant no fighting for pool chairs or beach spots. I definately recommend this resort and will go back.

First, let me say this.  My husband loves Cuba more than any other country we've been to. It's his favorite vacation spot.
People ask why? How is the food? How can you eat the same thing everyday?
Well I say this. If you go on vacation just for food or to eat. Stay home!! Most of you eat the same thing everyday anyways @ home.  Living in a country where I take everything for granted I appreciate it so much more when I come here.
We had fresh fish everyday - grilled, fried, baked, anyway you want it, beef, pork and chicken. Best omelets freshly made...however you want it...though one day we didn't have slice bread. But I was ok with a roll. It's still bread  😀
Fruits: mangoes, guava, pineapple, watermelon, melons, they have it. And my favorite...plantain chips. Thats my thing. And my husband swears he had the "crunchiest?" cucumbers at Starfish!
Now for The Drinks!! Trust me, the bartenders...they'll keep you very hydrated 😉 especially the Havana 7...my favorite rum 😋 I personally think they challenge each other to see who will get the guests drunker the fastest 😀 😀
Sun, sand and oh yes can't forget the HEAT!! It's hot!!!!
BUT nothing can compare to the People! Best ever! Here in Starfish, the staff is why I rate this resort 5***** in my books, from the gardeners to the Bosses 😀 all have a friendly face and a greeting for you. I have said it time and time again. The Cubans are the best - humblest and most gracious people I have had the privilege to meet.
Starfish Cayo Santa Maria is a bit quiet at the moment but it's the best time, no lineups for anything. Its like having our own oasis! Resort is very well maintained and clean. The servers at the bar are constantly wiping up the tables. Cleaners constantly sweeping and mopping. I was very impressed.
We were here in 2018 and imagine my surprise that some of the staff remembered us and welcomed us with big hugs!
Thank you to all the Bartenders and the restaurant Waitstaff but a special shout out to Raul Erencibia and Leydi in the Lobby Bar! Elianay, our amazing lady who makes the daily lovely towel artwork in our room. Gracias mi Amiga! Thank you to Anai Palma from the Public Relations office and a special special thank you to Dakiel (Customer Service) our very own personal "concierge"  😉 THANK YOU!! You have made our vacation at Starfish Cayo Santa Maria extra special. You made it a point to seek us out every day to ask if we are OK, if we needed anything. That's what Public Relations/Customer Service is all about my friend! Keep on doing what you do and you will be fruitfully rewarded! (I sincerely hope to see you @ Starfish when we come again.)

Thank you Starfish Cayo Santa Maria! My husband and I had an absolutely amazing vacation! Going home tomorrow, hopefully at least a pound lighter 😀 with all the sweating in the heat...wish it was another week...could have been a LOT lighter 😀😃.

Everything was perfect! All week long… it was during April

We had an amazing time visiting this resort! Previous reviews left me worried about what kind of experience we were in for... but I was very surprised. The staff her made the entire trip!! We got to know a lot of them and they made our time very special. Misladys at the buffet was especially sweet! She always had our table ready for breakfast.

The resort was extremely clean the entire time we were there. No issues with bugs and we were even on the ground floor! Normally, I refuse to stay on the ground floor but this resort felt very safe!

Food was actually delicious! I am even a vegetarian and it was easy to find things I enjoyed! I am still craving the friend plantains and cabbage.

I absolutely love Cuba. My very first trip there, and I'm planning to return. This resort, is older, but is equipped with all that you need. The staff there are wonderful people. I'm planning on coming back to this resort. Entertainment was great, lots of different stuff to do within the resort. There's a market close by for all your little gifts you need to bring home, literally 15 min walk, or they can take you there from the resort in the little go cart buses they have. The beach is one of the best beaches I've ever seen in my travels, the water was turquoise like in pictures you see, the sand is soft and white, not much seaweed either!!! Truly AMAZING!!! My one suggestion for excursions, do the sunset cruise, the crew on board are absolutely wonderful, the dolphin show is awesome, and the lobster dinner is the best finishing touch to it all!!!

Our family just got home from a great time at the Starfish Resort in Cayo Santa Maria. We couldn't have asked for a better resort. The staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds were clean and the beach was beautiful. I would highly recommend this resort if you have kids. The staff at the kids club are very welcoming and our daughter had a great time. There is always some activity going on at this place. We had great rooms/beds and the house keeper was fantastic. It was also nice to have a bank onsite as well as a mini store. One thing I would like to add is be sure to take the golf cart express to the market. which is about a 5 minute ride in the golf cart. The streets are cobblestone and there are many shops, it felt like a different little village yet it was only minutes away. We will go back to this resort again.
