We had a wonderful stay at Melia Buenavista!

The beaches here are absolutely breathtaking! What's remarkable is that there are three distinct beaches— the one for the sunsets was my favourite, especially with the sunset ritual music put on by Marcos!

The hotel staff is exceptionally welcoming and accommodating, always with a warm smile.

And then there's the Entertainment Team, who truly steal the show! Marcos, Navy and Andrenxon Coll are all great!
Whether it's dance classes, yoga sessions on the sea platform, or invigorating aqua gym sessions, there's never a dull moment!

Marcos truly shines with his exceptional salsa classes and his genuine kindness, always making us feel right at home and spreading his infectious happiness.

I wholeheartedly recommend this resort to everyone!

Beautiful hotel with 3 nice beaches, 2 swimming pools. One pool is quiet, another is for “fun”, which is a convenient separation. Food in the restaurants is ok. Water in the sea is like from a picture. There are a lot events daily or every other day to keep you occupied if you are interested. Animation team does a good job of providing entertainment without being pushy. There are salsa lessons with Anderson Coll and yoga classes with Navi and ecological walks with Marcos. A nice variety of activities and very entertaining.

This resort is a quiet hidden gem with the most beautiful beaches. The fitness activities staff are amazing and friendly. Andrexon Cole always helped us with our day he made an effort to make your day most enjoyable. He was cheerful and greeted us with a smile each day. We will go back and would make this resort our exclusive travel destination.

Really good place, beautiful beach, nice and kind staff, really good salsa class 🙂 the food is really delicious, the place is really safe and clean. Unfortunately we were staying only two days, i would prefer to stay more time. A real paradise

This hotel is a beautiful, tropical paradise with great views overlooking the well-maintained beaches. The staff were very helpful, always smiling and eager to please the guests. Entertainment with Andrenxon Coll was a blast every day with many fun activities by the pool. Special thanks to Lily and Daymi our butlers who made our stay extra special. The food was excellent every day and the portion sizes were adequately filling. I would very much recommend staying at this wonderful hotel.

Animation team of Anderson, Marcos and Navi were amazing. Made everything very fun we did the salsa lessons and the aqua gym at the pool every day. The resort and views were amazing. Our room overlooking the ocean was breathtaking. The food and snack bar was amazing. They had pizza, hamburger and hotdogs everyday day. The pizza dough was made in house every morning. 3 private beaches that had great views. Lots of washed up coral and shells to look for if you love walking the beaches.

We had the pleasure of spending 10 days at this resort last year and can’t wait to return. We recommended to friends and they loved it as much as we did. The staff all work tirelessly especially the “animation team” and a shout out to Andrenxon who went out of his way to educate us on the marine life, keep us laughing, and helped with our mutual love of sharing language. I picked up some extra Spanish words and some great dance moves!

We had an amazing time at this hotel. Anderson Coll, Marcos, and Navi treated us like family.
The beach is amazing and the staff is super friendly. Lots of activities to enjoy; daily water aerobics, dance lessons and a sunset ceremony at the sunset beach.

The room gets nice and cool in the evening, comfortable beds and the outdoor shower is a nice touch. The coffee is made fresh and the bread is delicious.
The restaurants are nice and the service is fantastic. Never been anywhere else where the staff is so accommodating.
The drinks are bottomless and many choices available.
The staff waits on you and makes sure you have everything needed. We needed a nail file and were brought 3. Fresh towels in the room, bottles of water, wine and beer in the fridge whenever needed.
The pool was nice and refreshing. The beaches are beautiful. The staff on the beach will jump into action when needed. Guided Snorkelling is available as well.
The staff, Anderson, Marcos and Navi are so kind and are always trying to show you a great time, aqua fit, yoga on the beach and dancing. These guys know how to have a good time and mingle as well. The music, saxophone, dancing and singing in the evening are very nice and it feels like a real private show. A lot quieter and private than the other Melia resorts.
The pool is nice and cool on a hot day and Everyone is so friendly and it almost feels like a private pool. Rey, Lily the Concierges are so attentive and Erika is a wonderful maid

The hotel is in a beautiful location and so well manicured. Gardeners and staff are working nonstop to keep it looking beautiful. Rooms are spacious and clean. The 3 beaches are lovely. We enjoyed the middle beach with snorkeling the most and Levon took such good care of us. The staff really make this resort so welcoming. Always smiling and attentive to whatever you need. Food and drinks were pretty good. Anderson Coll and Marcos and the animation team were so fun. We had such a good time dancing and playing volleyball in the pool with them. Shout out to Team Catastrophic! Our butlers Elyina and Rey were attentive and did everything they could to make our stay more enjoyable. Lester and the pool bar crew were so friendly and attentive as well and Pedro makes the best pizzas at the snack bar. And Lusy our server in the Los Navagantes restaurant is so sweet. All in all the resort was a great relaxing spot but the people really make it exceptional.

(Travelled July 2023) For my first vacation in Cuba, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at this resort. The beaches were AMAZING, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the grounds were clean.

About the room: We only had one real issue, which was that it was pretty hard to get hot water. The outdoor shower was lovely though so if you could get in and out quickly, it wasn't too bad. The other item to note was that even though we upgraded to an ocean view, it was partially obstructed. We didn't end up spending much time in the room so weren't too upset about it, but had we known, we wouldn't have spent the extra money. Otherwise, the room was large and the bed was comfortable. We had a big walk in closet and a jacuzzi tub.

The food: The food was nothing to write home about, but we did expect this going into it. I am a vegetarian so the options were limited (lots of pasta over the week!), but I survived. My partner said the meat options were good!

The vibe: The resort was very quiet when we were there (which was great for us!). If you're looking for a more lively scene, you might want to pick one of the other Melia resorts nearby. We had access to all 3 of them via a regular shuttle bus, so can confirm they had a bit more going on.

Overall, we would definitely return to this resort. We would skip the room upgrade and bring some more snacks, but otherwise it was an excellent experience. Pro tip: get up early for the sunrise! It was absolutely breathtaking.

An oasis of tranquility in the best location in Cayo Santa Maria!
The 3 wonderful beaches on the western tip of the Cayo are oriented so that you can enjoy the spectacular sea at any time of the day and even in different weather conditions.
The rooms are spacious and well distributed in order to have privacy and in our case a breathtaking view of the sea. They would need a little maintenance, but we understand....
There are 3 bars distributed on the various beaches and one by the central swimming pool open 24 hours with an excellent selection of local rums and super cocktails.
The entertainment team is very careful to welcome and respect everyone's needs in a discreet and professional manner. Anderson Coll, Marcos and Navi always available to please everyone, from yoga to excursions to dance lessons.

Resort is amazing. All the staff throughout the resort are amazing. Thanks to our butlers Lilie & Liene, for the special attention to make our holiday even better. The staff set up a nice dinner at the pool for Valentine’s Day. Soo yummy and show was special. Such friendly people.

The beaches here are amazing!! Best I’ve ever seen. What’s nice is that there 3 beaches, one for sunset, one for sunrise and the middle one is absolutely perfect for swimming.
The he hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating, always smiling.
The rooms are very nice and clean, shower out in the sun deck, private.
The food is great! A la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Entertainment Team is a delight!

Excellent hotel and wonderful location, the staff can not do enough to help you, the entertainment team of Navy, Ernesto and Andrenxon are brilliant, always there for you with great activities including, Yoga, Thai Chi, Dancing lessons, Aquarobics. The butler service was great, thanks to them for sorting out dinner bookings and any small problems that arouse, the food was great. The Bar staff were excellent and always happy and helpful, will definitely return again

We were at the Melia Buenavista for a week on mid January 2024. We have been to seven different resorts in Cuba in the past and rate this one as one of the top two contenders. We found the grounds and beaches to be beautiful and relaxing. The property was undergoing lots of upgrades and there was a noticeable difference in just the 7 days we were there. The maintenance staff were hard working and very respectful of us as guests.

We had two butlers who took care of us and took care of any issues we had And answered any questions. We had a broken toilet, that was fixed immediately, and they followed up a couple of times to be sure we did not have any further issues.

We found this resort to be quiet, which is what we were looking for. We did take advantage of going to the other resorts a couple of times to the other restaurants The other resorts were not as quiet. It was nice to have the choice.
All The staff on the resort were friendly, pleasant, polite and very helpful. I had asked The young man who stocked my fridge a couple of times about things I was curious about, and he went out of his way to take care of them, even though it was not part of his job.
The entertainment staff were of the highest calibre that we have experienced as far as being pleasant engaging and respectful. Anderxon Coll would be at the lobby bar every evening as part of the entertainment or just overseeing it. He made it a point to go to every person there and thank them for coming out and was always willing to chat. He also took care of the dancing, giving instructions at the pool, at the lobby, and even in the pool one day. He was involved with guests most of the day and usually available. I saw him playing board games with guests in the afternoons by the pool. The other members of the entertainment staff Marcos and Navi were just as professional and pleasant to be around, always smiling. I had some communication issues with Marcos, as I don’t know very much Spanish, and he is learning English. He was quick to find a fellow staff member who could translate for us and we all had a great laugh together.
We were always respectfully approached by the entertainment staff to be made aware of the activities that were available. They were never pushy, or demanding, but made sure we were always personally invited. If we did not feel like we wanted to do the activity, they respectfully smiled and carried on. As I mentioned earlier this was a quiet resort. There was never anyone screaming into a microphone during any of the activities.
Pedro (my buddy) as he calls everyone, and Aerial were the pizza and snack chefs. Always a good time to order pizza.

We are aware that Cuba is going through some very rough economic times right now and some items were in short supply, however it did not effect us. There was lots of food to eat, and we had the ability to use the other two resorts for food as well. The food at this resort was in our opinion the best that we have experienced in Cuba. There were areas where I think food could be improved, or with the spices available could be made to taste better, but I have no complaints about our food experience. Lusy was one of the waitresses that took care of us, and would always come to say good evening with a big smile on her face, and ask about our day, even if she was not our waitress.

I would highly recommend this resort for someone looking to have a good quiet relaxing time. But also the animation team has it in them to take the energy up a level as well. They are very accommodating to the needs and energy level of the guests.

If you do go to this resort, and you want to bring a huge smile to Anderxon’s face, ask him to explain all the different good meanings to the word “catastrophic”. It was an absolute pleasure getting to know him.

Beaches were absolutely wonderful. All the staff were extremely friendly. The corral reefs were great for snorkeling and Ricky the lifeguard showed us some great marine life. The food was great. The attention was much greater here compared to other resorts like Melia Las Dunas. The animation team was great. Marcos and Nave took us out for an ecological walk. Anderson Coll taught us bachata and it was a lot of fun. Would definitely come here again.

Arrival on December 22 / 2023 at Santa Clara Airport where my wife and I were greeted warmly by Larazo to guide us to our bus.

The ride to our resort was amazing. Our driver was excellent and careful on the road and courteous to other traffic or pedestrians.
The tour guide on the bus always making sure we were comfortable with cold drinks and always pointing out the beauti of cuban culture. The old cars made the trip to our motel a classic touch.

Upon arrival we were greeted warmingly by the bell staff who took care of our luggage with great care and professionalism.
As we were checking in a hostess brought my wife and I a fabulous cold mix drink, while we sat in the air conditioned main lobby.
Rey our butler came and introduced himself. A very professional and punctual young man who brought us on a small tour as we went to our room. He mentioned our reservation at the Los Navegantes for this even with the time which we were very grateful for taking the initiative to accomidated us for our first dinner.
Our room was amazing with a breath taking rustic look and a balcony view of the garden, the ocean and beach which seemed to called our names.
The a la cart menu at Los Navegantes was fantastic and flavorful and perfectly portioned and presentated.
The Caribes was the other restaurant availble which we were able enjoyed the coming days ahead. Which was also well put together with very nice a la cart menus and presentations of perfection.
Finishing our evening at the main bar La Notte where Oro our evening bartender of superior skill and professionalism mixed our drink. With his co-worker Anis who smiles and professionalism also made our evening complete.

Breakfast at the Los Marinos was fantastic. With the options of a buffet of cold meats, olives, cheese, fresh fruits, yogurts and breads or pastries. Accompanying this buffet was an a al cart menu with crepes, eggs, omelets, bacon or ham.

Pool side at La Caracola and Parrillada was amazing.
The professionalism of Lester and Yairkel are top notch. With a clean and well maintained, organized bar the drinks flowed on request with ease.
Pedro at Parrillada always there to please by making fantastic snacks of pizza, burgers or salads and other option when available to keep you content until dinner.

Pool side energy
Wow! the energy of the dance instructors are by far superior.
Keeping the guests and us entertained and energized with dancing, pool aerobics or just making us and others comfortable being pool side. Thank you

The cleaning and ground maintenance staff are always busy keeping the rooms clean and organized and the grounds beautiful to add the extra touch of paradise to our stay.

All I have to say is... total respect.
This man has the love of the ocean. Not only did he bring us on a breath taking snorkel tour not once but twice. Not only concerned for our safety while in the ocean. He really showed us the beauti around the ocean and aquatic life within.
Great respect for this man doing his best to keep the beach and ocean clean of garbage.

I'm sure we could go on about our fantastic vacation experience but we'll just finish with a special list of people who made everything extra special for us.

The stunning hotel in the perfect location. You can snorkel near by, relax in unwind. The hotel staff absolute amazing. Everyone can not do enough for you. My husband and I enjoyed every moment of our holiday. Who loves morning Joga, dance, music, this is just perfect place. Navy's and Ernestos morning Joga perfect start to the new day, Andrexon Coll aqua aerobic and dance classes trully unforgettable. The sunset stunning with beautiful music. We loved the food, cocktails. Dance evenings. Everything was just perfect.

After some research, as a solo female traveler I chose this resort I was looking for a place where I could feel comfortable, safe and get some serious R&R… and celebrate my birthday. This hotel exceeded my expectations.

I was a little worried I would be the only solo traveler and be surrounded by honeymooners and really be on my own. Turned out I was the only solo traveler at the resort during that time, the staff and other guests were incredibly friendly, I never felt not included. I had plenty "me" time to recuperate but also plenty of conversation and company.

My Butlers, Sergio and Lily were very helpful, attentive and discreet with anything I needed. Sergio even called ahead to inform the Catamaran crew of my birthday, to ensure they were aware and as such, made my day extra special. Thank you, Sergio.

Lester, Yaikel and David - thank you for making my pool bar drinks and always ensuring my glass was replenished.

Leydi, Anais, Luis and Mike…. made the best morning cappuccino’s and awesome drinks in the evening. You all do an incredible job!

Dayron…. I had the pleasures of having daily chats with this young man. He is incredibly polite, informative and kind. His customer service skills are top notch, and speaks great English. I hope to see him on my next visit.

Livan…. such an amazing and caring soul. He always went out of his way to take good care of me at the snorkel beach.

Last but not least, I saved the best part of my vacation for last. Andrenxonc Coll and his team were the highlight of my vacation.

Andrenxonc’s remarkable skills lies in uniting guests, planning dance sessions, water volleyball and creating memorable gatherings at the sunset and evening performances. Thanks to his abilities, I not only enjoyed these activities but also formed connections with fellow guests, fostering friendships that extend beyond my stay. His talent goes beyond entertainment; it becomes a catalyst for building a sense of camaraderie among those sharing the resort experience. His unique ability to bring people together adds an extra layer of joy and connection, making my time at the resort truly unforgettable.

As a result I will definitely be back for a rematch with Team “ Catastrophic”
