Nice Cuban resort with great staff. The resort is not perfect but the staff make up for any small short comings and are very friendly and accommodating. Common area's, rooms and grounds were kept clean
We are of the opinion that you need to go with an open mind. I think that you need to fully understand Cuba and their economic situation before you can set an expectation of what you will receive while there. Our expectations were actually exceeded based on what we had heard and knew about Cuba.
The food, although not gourmet by Canadian standards, is acceptable, varied and generally abundant, although certain items were not always available. If you keep an open mind there will be no disappointment with the food.
The resort is adults only and very quiet, so it is definitely the place to go to relax. Bars are fairly well stocked and the bartenders compromise if an ingredient is not available that day.
We felt that Angsana was overall good dollar value. Based on our experience during the second week of January we would recommend the resort and will return next year.

Fairly new resort, amazing staff and plenty of beach options including snorkeling and catamaran accessible right from the resort beach. Always close to water as the resort is smaller but provides a great vibe, tropical feel and views of the water at all times. Highly recommend!

We stayed in a cabana with ocean view for 2 weeks celebrating our 20th anniversary! Our stay was nothing short of absolutely spectacular! The rooms, grounds, pools, beaches, food etc. were amazing! Other than the gentleman who cooked the pizza and a woman at the front desk who were both extremely rude and didn’t know how to smile, not to mention the fact that the woman at the front desk had no idea what she was doing. Further to this, she is a terrible representation of the hotel. She sits slouched, looking unimpressed, and acts as if you are putting her out when asked to help or when checking out.
As for the rest of the staff, they are all amazing! From the woman who took care of our room to the young man who had just started at the resort as a butler to the bartenders, servers, cooks and the chef, they all made our stay amazing! They made our 20th anniversary celebration so special with their attention to detail and kindness. Our butler made sure we had cake for our dessert and that our room was decorated and the day after he brought us a gift from him. This was probably the kindest thing I have ever experienced anywhere and I would in this type of industry. The public bathrooms near the pool were kept immaculate by a woman that always had a smile on her face and so many other staff members were kind, efficient, knowledgeable, always smiling and laughing! To name a few: Nalli, Josè, Melitza, the rest of the bar staff, the chef who told us to call him the “Mexican Guy”, a woman who worked as a secretary and a server/bartender!! I wish I could remember all of their names!! The kindness we received from all of them was nothing short of amazing!
Our stay was amazing as is the resort, food and accommodations! Thanks you so much for making our stay so memorable! We can’t wait to return!!

Of the Cuban resorts I've stayed at this is solid spot. Food is really good for the price. The service is incredible, fast and friendly. The rooms are pretty good however nothing special. The location is really cool with multiplie Beach front. Size wise it is smaller which leads to a more relaxed atmosphere. If you are looking for a party this isn't the spot. The crowds are on the older side. If coming from overseas make sure to bring small dominated billage/coinage for tipping.

This was our third trip here and we had an amazing 2 weeks in paradise! A massive thank you to everyone at the Angsana for yet another wonderful time there. Yes there are shortages but as long as you go with an open mind it’s not a massive problem. Chef Guillermo, Yuniel and Alfredo amongst others do amazing things with what they have to work with. Didn’t go hungry, and had lots of different drinks that the bar staff made for us.
Big thanks to the Angsana staff including
Pocurull ❤
Nailli, but why oh why did management move her from the lobby bar? So many repeat guests are upset about this!!

My wife and I stayed 11-18 dec 2023. We took partial ocean view and it worth it. Nothing negative to remarque. We read about food shortage, but didn't feel any shortage: there were beef, chicken, pork, several kind of fish. Of cause, cocktails in the bars :) Total relax. The only thing: we'd like have coffee not only at the breakfast. The ocean was wonderful too.

Just got back from a great week at Angsana. The weather was not so good with very high winds topping 65Km hour gusts most days so not exactly beach weather but we did manage to make the most of it when the sun was shining and the winds simmered. As for the resort it was operating at half capacity with the main hotel not currently open. Not sure why but this made for a very quiet resort which was what we were looking for so it was perfect. The resort was very clean and well maintained by Cuba standards. No its not a 5 star Antigua class palatial resort but its a fraction of the cost so dont expect that. It is quite nice tho with beautiful pools, new equipment and incredible beaches. The room we had was the junior suite oceanview and it was very nice with my only complaint being the internet in the room was very very spotty. Sunwing lists it as Wifi in the room but once you're there they say its not available in the rooms. Not a huge deal but kind of annoying. Also the trees in front of the room are getting quite high so unless you are on the top you wont be able to see the ocean. The food was not the best or the worst i've had in Cuba, but the drinks are plentiful and the bartenders are very good and animated at making drinks that tend to creep right up on you... :) So for the beaches you have a couple to choose from. right in front of the resort there is no beach, its all tidal pools on old coral, very fun to walk thru and see whats in the pools. To the west of the main resort is the main beach, its typical beautiful Cuba white sand that stretches for quite a way to only one other resort on it. This is a very nice beach and good for swimming but the reef starts close to shore here. To the East side is my favourite beach as it is smaller, very private and stretches into a mangrove area with canal that is great for shore fishing. There is a large sandbar stretching away from the beach that you can walk about a km out in crystal clear water that is up to your knees. This runs parallel to the deep canal so its perfect for casting into for large barracuda and snapper. All the ocean in front of the resort is protected by an outer reef leaving the water closer in to be quite calm when the winds behave. The snorkeling right from shore is some of the best i have ever experienced and i'm fortunate enough to have had a lot of places to compare it to from years of travel. Almost anywhere from either beach or even from the tidal pools in front of the resort you can get into great snorkeling within about 20' from shore. We saw lobster, huge starfish, jellies, barracuda, snappers, lionfish, jacks and about a million mullets or some kind of bait fish that the pelicans were incessantly bombarding and tons of other reef fish. The resort is pretty isolated but there is another area that has a few more resorts and another beach that is within walking distance or you can get a quick ride form the resort to it.
So all in all if you are looking for a clean, quiet resort that is not in resort row kind of area and enjoy great beaches with really good shore fishing and snorkeling then take a serious look at Angsana.

simply outstanding! The hotel is amazing.. the staff great but the beach is the best! Sand bars..Hermit crabs... crystal blue water! what more can you ask for!

the only downside is I booked with air canada.. Big scam
you pay for 1 week and the structure the flight times so you lose 2 full days so its actually 5 days not 7

Typical Air Canada SCAMMERS go with AIR TRANSAT or SUNWING!

My wife and I have been to Cuba 4 times. We first stayed at this hotel July 16-23, 2023 and were pleasantly surprised. It's not for nothing that this hotel is ranked #1 out of 6 hotels in Cayo Las Brujas.
Before purchasing our package, we had read the reviews and the majority were positive. So we decided to go to this hotel.
The buffet is very good and resembles those we are used to seeing in Cuba, ie fish, beef, chicken, pork and pasta. We never ran out of food.
The à la carte dinners are really excellent, a first for both of us since the 4 times we have stayed in Cuba.
All the staff are very friendly, smiling, attentive and dedicated.
The pool is well maintained and there are only a few places in the shade in the afternoon.
The beach is beautiful, however bring water shoes because there are rocks from about fifteen feet.
As it was low season, there was only one show on Sunday evening. The rest of the evenings of the week, there was a pianist in the lobby bar.
If you are looking for tranquility and relaxation, this is the perfect place.
We will definitely go back there next time.
We recommend it without hesitation.

Amazing small resort, incredible and memorable service, great beaches, great food. We totally enjoyed our first visit to Cuba at this resort.

Some considerations, water shoes are definitely recommended if you are exploring the beach and shoreline, but if you enjoy short snorkeling excursions close to the resort, this is a great little resort.

This resort is definitely on my short list of destinations when we plan on returning.

The place was beautiful and close to two beautiful beaches. The rooms were spacious and well kept.
The staff was friendly and always willing to help.
The following things were issues, but they did not reduce our enjoyment of the trip:
- one day there was no hot water in the shower. But the day was hot so it didn't matter.
- the food was ok (not bad, just ok), I think this is the same for most Cuban resorts.
- the resort is about an hour and forty minutes from the airport.

I picked this resort because of all the positive reviews everywhere I looked, and I was definitely not disappointed.

I am most impressed with the staff here no matter what their position is, from the food and beverage director to some of the gardeners whom I actually had conversations with and everyone that we encountered throughout our stay.

Everyone made us feel so welcome, and for anything that we asked, it was always served with a smile.

The rooms are nice and spacious, the air conditioning is ice cold if you want it to be, but during the time that we were there we really didn’t need it, the breeze coming in from the ocean view balcony was amazing.

The bathroom is huge with excellent water pressure, unlike some of the other resorts that we’ve been to, you might want to take a longer shower, because it feels so good.

The nightly entertainment is always great, the musicians are awesome and the dancers from the aquatic show are amazing.

As with the food, they do tried to do their best with the limited resources they have available being in Cuba, but I can assure you, there’s still many choices available, you can always find something you like and you don’t necessarily have to eat it everyday if you don’t want to.

I can say without any hesitation that I will definitely be back.

This is the resort you are looking for, go head and book it already !!

The closest you're going to get to a 5 star in Cuba. Great resort, with a private beach, great snorkeling ,good food. Much better and newer than the 5 stars in Varadero.

If you want evening entertainment, you can walk on the beach to the hotel next door, or enjoy the piano bar entertainment at this resort.

It's smaller in size, but very well maintained. Better service than the large hotels.

Great for couples, but singles should avoid this resort.

Quality lawn chairs and beach chairs throughout complex. I was there over the Christmas holidays and the food was great.

Not much to complain about here

We had an amazing time during our stay this week. The rooms were clean, the staff were absolutely amazing, friendly and helpful, the beaches are stunning and clean, bartender's always amazing! Our Butler Ypsey was so helpful and kind our entire stay, making sure we had everything we needed. (You get a Butler if you're in a Cabana or Junior Room)
Come to Cuba with the expectations that the food will be mediocre and you'll be fine. There are lots of options for those that are picky... There's a pasta bar, meat station, salad bar and hot food plates in the buffet restaurant. They also have two a la carte restaurants, one Italian and one international which were also great. There are also 2, 24 hour Bars and a 25 hour snack bar.... Beef burgers are great!
We are not a paid review ... We've met people who have been to this resort multiple times because they love it.
Bring a sweater for cool nights, bug spray and after bite for mosquitoes... Bring a positive attitude and you'll have a wonderful time!

I'm writing this review on the bus back to the airport, already thinking of when we will come back. Thank you Angsana for a memorable vacation and for making us feel so welcome and loved.

This place was truly truly wonderful. There were a lot of positive reviews which made me a bit skeptical but I was definitely not disappointed. This is going to be a long review because there is so much I want to highlight about this trip.

The resort itself is beautifully designed. The lobby and furniture in it is very luxurious and stylish. It’s a smaller resort, which I prefer, but they’ve designed the layout so that you get many different feeling areas to hang out in, even if you’ve only moved 50 feet. Bougainvillea and hibiscus flowers were in bloom everywhere, and there was even a little family of cats that you could see occasionally. We also had a crane hanging around and hunting geckos.

This isn’t a party resort but I found the evening entertainment to be just perfect, and whenever we wanted a party we were able to make it ourselves. We got everyone dancing and singing along with this amazing violin/guitar duo (and even got them to play an encore). Since it’s a small resort, everyone would be congregated at the lobby bar (which had fantastic espresso martinis).

The rooms were spacious and comfy. We had a superior ocean view room, and the view really was superior. Had a direct view of the ocean, as well as the pools, and could partially see the sunset every evening. We were in block 6, so it was right on top of the lobby/buffet. This was just fine for us but if you’re someone who goes to bed early you will hear the nightly entertainment. It didn’t bother me because the entertainment stops at or before 11pm. My parents were staying there as well and ended up needing to switch room because you can get a slight draft of cigarette smoke if your balcony door is open. (But the fact that the balconies have a screen to let in the evening cool air is really amazing).

They ended up using one of the cabanas and if you are looking for a truly luxurious room, I would recommend it. Beautiful room, a huge window overlooking the ocean beside the bathtub, and large king bed.

The beach really is the star of the show. It’s exactly what you’d imagine as a tropical beach. White sand, crystal clear water, amazing snorkelling. I snorkelled right off the beach almost every day, and because it is so shallow you can swim out quite far. Saw lots of star fish, urchins, and many tiny colourful fish and flora. Spent most of the week at the larger beach. The small private one was lovely and quiet but there was no washroom and the bar opened later. Large beach also has a tasty snack bar where I had the best burger of the trip.

And the food really was fantastic. Not even just for Cuba, we really had amazing food the whole time. Breakfast at the 24hr snack bar was fantastic - always delicious eggs, toast, and fresh fruit (even got some bacon on the last day). They also had the best cafe con leches there. Many pizzas, fries, and fried chicken were eaten there (the fried chicken was so so good). We brought our own ketchup and hot sauce, but if you ask the servers they do actually have their own hot sauce which is made in house and quite delicious. Salt shakers didn’t work well because of the humidity but my parents actually brought their own Tupperware salt shaker. It worked really well but we didn’t really *need* it for the food. There are two a la cartes, and ate at both of them. Special shout out to the lasagna in the Italian restaurant and to the steak at the international one. An even bigger shout out to Lizandra who was our server a few times. She is just the sweetest human being and so kind. (And even let us borrow her phone to look at the restaurant menus because none of ours were connecting to wifi).

The staff were wonderful, and really made an effort to remember you. There are so many to shout out, but I didn’t get everyone’s names, but they truly added to the vacation.

I could go on and on, but I really loved my stay here and am already hoping to return.

The MOST relaxing hotel I've ever been to. As soon as I stepped into the lobby a sense of peace and tranquility overtook me ( Being able to see the ocean right at the entrance of the hotel was a big bonus) The rooms are sooo spacious and comfortable, also with great views to the ocean. The pool area is gorgeous, day and night, and you get to do exactly what this hotel is designed for: RELAX.

Now, what truly made our stay special was management and the staff at the hotel. They make you feel welcomed and truly cared for. They're also so accommodating. Big thanks to Ana Laura and Lucian for going above and beyond every time we had a little ask, and making our family trip the most memorable so far.

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT! We stayed in Cayo Santa Maria (Las Brujas) in the neighbouring resort and one day we decided to take a stroll on the beach and ended up at the Angsana resort. As soon as we explored the premises we were in awe of the beautiful cabanas and the pool areas as well as the view of the ocean. We immediately decided that we wanted to stay one night at the resort and were definitely very pleased with the experience. We spoke to Norberto at the front desk and he was EXTREMELY helpful and accommodating! He went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. The pool side area was so quiet and so relaxing and the music was great! We enjoyed our meal at the snack bar and we reserved at their a la carte restaurant and we ordered the Lobster (for an extra fee). The lobster was excellent and Ramon was so nice and provided us with amazing service! We are so happy that we decided to stay that one night. It was an unforgettable stay! Next time we visit Cayo las Brujas we will go directly to the Angsana! Thank you all for the amazing service! Muchas gracias!

This is a beautiful hotel! A high-end version of Dhawa down the beach. The hotel is smaller and more intimate. The age group of guests is on the the older side, therefore, everything is much more relaxed. One thing I would change about this hotel is a few nights of relaxing entertainment at night is fun, however, I spoke to many other guests who would have loved a little bit more of a night life staying here. The food is amazing especially at the snack bar.

By far their best assets are their wonderful staff. Hoping I got all the names right, but from their amazing managers Noberto and Angelica, to the sweet front desk agent Rachel, to the snack bar staff Oraldito and Roidy, to their front bartenders Lachy and the beautiful Nalli, and finally the amazing entertainment staff Javi, Tony and Ernesto. All of them truly made it the most beautiful trip and changed our minds about Cayo Santa Maria after a horrible first impression at Dhawa. We truly thank all of you for a wonderful trip.
