Paradisus Río de Oro Resort & Spa

We just returned from a week vacation. A week just wasn’t long enough. The welcome we got at the front desk was great. It was efficient and got us on our way to our room.
The room is a little dated but very comfortable. Lots of water pressure and hot water which was surprising for me. The cleanliness of the room was perfect. Every day it was cleaned with fresh towels and lots of bottled water
The grounds are perfect. Very clean and lots of people around to make sure your stay is perfect.
The food was great bars where stocked pool was clean beach was great

My daughter and I went on a trip together March 27 to April 3. We had the most relaxing, beautiful week at this resort. We stayed at the Royal Service part. Everything was 5 star including food. Can't wait to go back again.

We just arrived home from a two week stay, our second time at this beautiful resort. The next time we are planning one month. This alone should tell you something. Visually stunning with amazing lush grounds, clear turquoise water and lovely cove beaches, it is a tropical paradise. The staff are the most professional and kind We have ever encountered anywhere in our travels. Simply the best, management should be incredibly proud of them. Our ocean view room in RS was superb. We found the food wonderful and while a few items were missing for a few days, it had zero impact on our vacation. Drinks were cold, the sun was hot and the water was warm. Thank you to Alexei, Dunieski, Lina, Rolando, Junior, John and many many more!

**we found a great riding stable just across the lagoon bridge. Across the road from Luna y mares. Horses are well loved and well cared for. Owner rescued 5 dogs and is an animal lover. Go take a trail ride, visit the ranch, and take some treats for the doggies!

Traveled here the 7th to the 14th of March 2024. We updated our room to Royal service once we got there (Much cheaper then booking online) The butler service on the royal side was truly amazing, they took very good care of us!

*Very quiet resort, not much animation (Classical music in lobby bar) Clientele is a lot of seniors.

*Very clean resort & rooms.

*The staff on Royal side was truly the greatest, bar service was great compared to lobby side)

*Food was decent but a lot of shortage (I suggest bringing food from home. Condiments, Peanut Butter, Snack, Soda Water or Tonic)

* I recommend this place if you are looking for peace and quiet vacation.

We did the dolphin and snorkeling excursion, was AMAZING!

Great beach to snorkel, definitely worth bringing your equipment!

Silvio- gardener and Eddy - server/bartender were both extraordinary workers! They went above and beyond every day to make me and my family's trip great. Thank you!

Food - we never starved. All a la carte restaurants were open, and buffets were well stocked with a huge assortment, including meat

Toilet paper - abundant! We never ran out or had any problems at their public washrooms in the resort, highly advise for you to bring if you are leaving the resort - there is a blatant shortage and lack of existence of toilet paper. However, we had 4ply in our rooms..... It's better than I have in Canada

Beach - very clean! Go early to grab a spot - bring the beach team some gifts or tip- they work hard and are outside all day! Wish I brought gloves for the guy who picked up the seaweed everyday tough job, and our beach is spotless!

Note- it is rocky and has a lot of wildlife on our side of the beach in the water. Be careful where you step . Walk to the left for calmer waters and more sandy entrance :)

I was fortunate to spend a week here with my sister from March 14th-21st. One thing that stood out to both of us were the kind, caring and fun staff of the resort. They worked hard day and night to ensure that all of the guests had an amazing experience (and we sure did!).

Diana, Sheyla, Luis, Marianni and Alfredo ensured to provide high quality entertainment throughout the week. From playing volleyball, to dancing lessons, to yoga, and so much more - the entertainment staff worked hard to make sure we were always having a good time. Vlady, the DJ, added to the good times by playing the best tunes at the pool and at the disco. He was so fun and always took our song requests! They are a wonderful group of people who made our trip incredible and anyone would be lucky to meet them!

At the bar, Lorenzo, Christian and Juan Jose took care of us and always delivered the best drinks. They worked hard to make sure we were always happy with what we asked for (and we always were).

Paradisus Rio de Oro is a wonderful resort where the staff will ensure to deliver a vacation to remember. I can't wait for our next visit!

Had a great time at the Paradesius. Just got home from 3 weeks there. Staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful. Animation crew amazing!!! Never a dull moment. Always something to do. Evening shows great and lots of fun. Resort beautiful. Staff did well to work around food shortages to make sure there was always something good available to eat. A la carte restaurants were very good. Especially enjoyed the Japanese restaurant. Went to most 3 times and saw shows 3 times enjoyed them all.

It seems to me that the hotel has spectacular service, although the month of December seems to be the best option in terms of prices and services. I loved the green and recreational areas, especially for the silence and tranquility they possess. The commercial service shows many varied and attractive offers for the visitor. It was a pleasure to get to know Cuba in this way, I hope to return very soon!

The hubs and I stayed in a junior suite on the Royal side. It was quiet and the room was the best resort room I’ve ever stayed in. Spacious, king sized bed, outdoor private shower, giant restroom with jacuzzi tub and two sinks. Also a nice balcony area, highly recommend!
The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Lush and well maintained, gorgeous flowers, butterflies and happy song birds. We really loved the nature we felt immersed in. The grounds people work HARD. If you have any extra cash, consider giving one or two a little gift :)
The beach on the royal side is small and cozy. Only around 12 umbrellas, but it was never full while we were there. We would show up around 9/930 am and there were always spots available.
The food was the best I’ve ever had in Cuba. I had eggs benny almost every morning, but there were plenty of other choices as well. The restaurants were all very good, and even the buffet had plenty of options. The only shortage I noticed while we were there was white wine and potatoes. Also there was no sushi available at the Japanese restaurant, but that was fine with us.
The staff truly make the resort a nice place though. Every single person we met was kind, regardless if a tip was waiting for them or not. No one ever pressured us to give or gave us bad service if we didn’t tip. We did our best to give as much as we could. Please consider bringing a few $10 or $20 Canadian bills, as Cubans cannot use can coins, nor will the banks exchange them. We came back with around $20 in toonies and loonies, great for laundry money.
Please keep in mind that although this resort is adults only, ALL beaches in Cuba are public, therefore anyone can visit. Again, people work hard. Let them enjoy their beaches with their families and don’t give attitude. Have another mojito and enjoy the day :)

It's Cuba, so the raw ingredients for the food are limited. Low expectations are key to having a great time! Sadly you have to use your beach towels to reserve a good pool/beach chair at 6 am every morning. Wifi is limited even in the lobby.

This resort is a true paradise! It has a beautiful view of the beach overlooking the cliffs and an emerald colour of the sea with little colourful fish.

I was especially happy with the animation crew. Daniel is full of energy, experience! The other anination staff were also great, and added so much fun to our stay!

At the pool bar, Marise and Lorenzo attended to us so well.

At the beach bar, David was so friendly and warm.

The waitresses at the beach restaurant were also great!

At the buffet, Maria was so welcoming!

In early March 2024, twelve of us from Ontario, Canada, spent 10 days at the beautiful Paradisus Rio de Oro resort in Holguin, Cuba. We had a fantastic time! This was not just a vacation in the end. This was an experience which was incredibly positive. We made friends, both Canadian and Cuban. We were in Cuba to enjoy ourselves and no one was particularly bothered by the occasional shortages of certain foods or drinks and, we most definitely did NOT go hungry or thirsty. We understood the reality of the situation and were not put off at all. Beaches were beautiful and the Cuban spirit and generosity shined brightly. Would go back in a heart beat. The facilities of the hotel were comfortable, the food was good and all resort staff were friendly and helpful. I’ll mention some special ones. During our visits to the main dining room, Lisandra who is part of the table service staff, aided occasionally by Maylen and others, ensured that our group was well looked after. Their care and attention didn’t go unnoticed, it was nice to be greeted each day by these lovely people. Several men servers, also in the dining room, went beyond to make sure that our needs were met. Maylen was also our lunch server at the pool restaurant. She is charming, has a good sense of humour and is truly an asset to the resort.

Okay, now for one of the main highlights of our stay at Paradisus. The animation (entertainment) crew (which I give five out of five stars ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐) put on exciting and entertaining nightly shows in the main hall as well as the ever fun morning and afternoon events in the pool area. I am told that they are the best entertainment team around, and I tend to agree with that assessment, so would my friends. We took part in most of the daily events, when asked, including pool exercises, volleyball as well as trying to learn supposedly easy dance routines. Animation staff Marianni, Sheyla and I believe Dayaré were particularly nice when coaching my dance moves, and while I still need to work at it — the smiles and laughter we shared during my attempts to keep up, were priceless. The Paradisus animation team consists of many energetic people and while I can’t name them all, they are the best! Marianni, as part of this animation team, gave us a warm welcome on our first day and was likeable from the get go. She has an infectious smile, a pleasant personality and is genuinely a nice person. It was clear that we would be willing participants in anything the animation team had to offer, including being the first to jump in and to entice other guests to join the fun. Marianni along with her fellow animation crew members: Dayaré, Sheyla, Delmis, Daniel, Diane, Lazaro, Alfredo, Vladimir, Erichel and Aynhilis — are amazing people and of exceptional value to the Paradisus resort and their guests. We just returned from our 3rd trip to the Royal section. We had a great time as usual. All of the staff at the Royal from the manager, assistant manager, butlers,baristas,chamber maids, restaurant staff,pool maintenance ,drivers and ground keepers could not have been nicer. We wanted a quiet restful holiday. Which is exactly what we got. We will be returning !

It is a wonderful hotel. From the moment you arrive you feel a lot of peace, it is a very warm and welcoming place. With a wonderful staff. Its director is a wonderful person, very attentive to all his clients. I think there is no better place than Paradisus Rio de Oro

Great hotel, one of the best for me in all cuba. Service needs to improve. Looks like they are short of people. Several times need to call or chase the waitress for a drink. Rooms are great however the air conditioning is very weak and not sufficient for the heat. Food is good, more than is really needed for a vacation. The access walkways need a little more lighting specially with the amount of elderly people visiting the hotel. I am surprised not seeing any accident. Also the electric buses should go slower, they look like a racing track. The beach was fairly clean but still room to be much better. I personally cleaned a lot and found a blood capsule sample in the sand, it is dangerous if someone step on it and break it. I gave a típ to the cleaning guy as he was doing the best he could with that equipment. The specilized restaurant are great, i didn't go to the Japanese so I can not comment on that. There is lack of rum variety. No ingredient for mojito..
Generally speaking is great. I have been almost 7 times and is very consistent

Great place with great service. Staff was awesome. Shows were very good especially the water ballet.
Food was great with lots of options. Did not encounter any of the shortages people commented on. Would recommend this place.

I arrived at the paradisus rio de oro hotel with my family and received amazing treatment. A lady named Ekaterina gave me a tour of the hotel and gave a very friendly atmosphere. The hotel was clean, modern, had amazing views. Lovely bar, amazing food, and service. I loved my experience and created beautiful memories with my family. I enjoyed my stay and am very thankful for the workers who were welcoming and friendly. Everyone was always happy to say hi and accommodate me and my family. Thank you!

This was my first time in the carribean and I absolutely loved it.

The resort was absolutely beautiful, beautiful surroundings and views. You couldn't wish for more.
It's also my first time at an all adults resorts as I normally use resorts that cater for children as I have a daughter but this place was so nice to switch off and have some me time.

The food was lovely and the restaurants were all delicious.

The pool was amazing, so relaxing and so chilled and the Spanish music was just at the right volume, just loud enough.

The beaches were to die for, the views were so beautiful, it felt like you were in another world.

The rooms were spacious and the layout was perfect especially when sharing with a friend.

The entertainment at night was always a good watch and there were plenty to do and see from early evening until late.

The resort was stunning and I would definitely like to return one day.

Our amazing vacation in Paradisus Rio De Oro.
Me am my wife we have just return from Holguin Cuba. We spent unforgettable two weeks in wonderful resort it is called Paradisus Rio De Oro. It was not our first time in this resort but this one was really the best one. Because everything in our staying there from the very beginning of our arriving to the our departure was covered by care of people working in this beautiful hotel. During all these two weeks every day and every hour we feel like were staying at home with our relatives and friends. All of these guys working at this hotel work as a one great team to offer the best service for their customers. Of course we would like to say our big thanks to all of the workers and personal stuff working there. All of them without any exceptions did their job perfectly and professionally. But especially we would like to emphasis the great attitude from main manager Jose Luis. It looks like there is nothing impossible for him. He is always working with customers and always available for them. Also we were impressed by work of Olga Torres she is working at customer care. She is so, attentive, patient and kind to all the clients. There is no minor questions for her. She is always trying to help. On the reception desk we would like to mention about very nice person his name is Lazaro. He is a real expert. He does his job fast, nice, easy and always with a beautiful smile. He is a very pleasant person with a big open heart

After visiting Spa and Gym we were totally and completely happy and satisfied. Stuff working there was very very nice too. They were the real professionals and the service provided by them was great. Also we would like to mention about works of plumber, electrician, technician ( guy did safe opening) all these works were made fast, nice and easy.
At the end finishing this review I would like to say a big one huge thanks to all the people working in Paradisus Rio de Oro .You make our vacation great and unforgettable. Please keep doing what you do and you will make other people happy. We would strongly recommend people to visit this beautiful and lovely place .

The place is amazing, rooms, service, housekeeping, everything. I cannot wait to go back. The resort is an adult only place. We upgraded to Royal service with room service. The food was good.
