Hotel Atelie del Mar

Beautiful experience here! Clean rooms, amazing hospitality, friendly staff, good breakfast. We loved the large pool, so many fun things to do in Monterrico. This is the best place to stay.

While on my frequent visits to Guatemala, I'm always up for a trip to the beach. After many disappointing stays at hotels with sub-par accomodation and food or which let guests continue the party until the sun came up, several years ago I found Atelie Del Mar in Monterrico. Since then, it's been my "go to" for a weekend at the beach. The hotel is a delight to stay at with great rooms, one of the largest pools in town, and wonderful and friendly hosts. The hotel is also located across the street from the beach and is a short walk from the main street where restaurants, stores, and ATMs are located. On this most recent visit, I was pleasantly surprised as the rooms have been refreshed from top to bottom with new paint, floors, bathroom fixtures and more! Another welcome change is that agua pura is now complementary with staff bringing an ice cold refillable glass bottle to your room at check-in. There's a new condensed menu, including several breakfast offerings (included for guests) featuring some of the old favourites (pasta with shrimp) and some new ones. Whether you spend your day on the beach or relaxing by the pool, Atelie Del Mar is a great choice for your stay.

Thank for the excellent personal service. The hotel is quiet clean and the rooms comfortable and clean. The hotel is full of beautiful flowers and the pool is awesome. The hotel is by the beach which is also clean and safe. I have stay at the hotel for more than two weeks and it was unforgettable vacation. I’m from NY and the tranquility of the hotel was the perfect place to recharge. I can’t wait for this year’s vacation. The owners and the staff was perfect the personal touch made our staying feel like I was at home and the food was first class. Thank you all For an amazing experience.

I love to be at this place, i have been there twice in between the last years and i fell in love with everything. The rooms with A/C and the pool are clean, there are nice flowers, palms, fruits and a little restaurant. I enjoy the food, it´s typical guatemalian. And the owners are nice people to talk with, i feel at home when i am there. The beach is two minutes away from the hotel, i experienced wonderful sunrises there and happy relaxed days - and it is so quiet there! Thanks to Violeta and Stieg, i will come again!!

I would like to thank Atelie del Mar owners for their hospitality. My family and I truly enjoyed our stayed and loved their relaxing place.
The owners were very kind to assist us because we unfortunately suffered an accident on our way. This was due to a route suggested by Google Maps. The first time I set the location, Maps guided me into a very awful road. I had not been to Monterrico, and deeply regret not asking people on the road if I had taken the right way. The route I took, Obero, pointed out in the screenshots, is in awful conditions. Such is the case that my motor oil bin was severely damaged and all the motor oil spilled. Thanks to a kind man on the road who warned me about the damage, I was able to stop and ask for a tow truck. The kind man waited with us as he indicated that we were in a very dangerous road and he could not understand why Google Maps had lead me that way. I called the Atelie del Mar and the owners helped me coordinate a mechanic nearby and transportation to get to their place. We arrived at 8:00pm and were warmly welcomed by the staff and the owners.
I explained what had happened and no one could explain why Google Maps had given me that route.
That night I checked again, and strangely got the correct route. The route that would have saved me a lot of trouble and putting my family's integrity in danger.
That road in in terrible conditions DO NOT use it.
If you want to enjoy Atelie del Mar take Puerto Quetzal's road, no way turning on Obero's!!!

Having he opportunity to stay in such a wonderful place helped us forget about our unfortunate accident.

I am looking forward to going there again, but this time I will not take that awful road.
Google, please make the necessary corrections.

I have been here on numerous occasions and love it and am always rested. Good food, good hospitality, a nice pool, what more do you want?

When you find it, you find it! That is how me and my family felt when we arrived to Atelie del Mar, at Monterrico´s beach. Why do we have to look for something else? We don´t need to. At Atelie del Mar you will find an excellent service since you get inside. Besides, it is just at some 10 meters from the beautiful sea. The food is great, you should ask for "smorgas", my favourites! The only thing you must remember is to bring some good sunblocker and insect repelent, and every thing will be just fine! Ah! Stij and Violeta are excellent artist, each one in their very own way, and the music is great. So, once you find it, you find it! Greetings!
