Solid rooms! Could have a few more towels in the room - it was a wet snowy day.

We loved the pool and sauna - the sauna is suitable for up to 4-6 people, and the pool is good enough for around 10 people. Enjoy your soak!

The breakfast is massive, and everyone can find something here.

Pancakes, fruits, eggs (boiled), coffee, tea, milk, salad, tomato, cucumber, etc., you name it.

Even a little helper for the morning (see picture).

You have to pay a town-fee was for one day 666 isk for two people.

If you are thinking about it, think no more! This is the perfect place to stay in Vik. Staff was extremely friendly. Carolina at the front desk was very kind and gave us useful information that helped for our trip. We even got an upgrade for a room with a beautiful view! Breakfast was delicious. Is a buffet so you pick whatever you want. The outdoor hottub was amazing and just the perfect way to relax at the end of the day after driving in the winter. Plenty of parking space and also gas stations, super markets and restaurants near by.it was very close from the black sand beach by car! Honestly for the price you can’t find a better option.

I stayed at the Hotel for four nights and the bed was really comfortable, the room was clean and the location a little outside of Vik was great to rest. I enjoyed the substantial breakfast and the good dinner in the evening.

Hotel outside Vic, Iceland. Sort of comfortable, grew like Topsy in the countryside. Hard to adjust temperature, bath is tiny for fixtures, shower gets entire room wet, only small handsink. Accomodating and friendly staff. Super meals, buffet style. Almost like camp with dining hall and rounds in outbuildings. Hot tub and small gym available.

Amazing Staff. Thank you so much Justyna for all your help during our stay!

Would highly recommend. Great Breakfast. Conveniently located just outside the town of Vik.

Hot Tub outside on site but not covered. Dry Sauna as well.

Really nice beds! The breakfast and dinner buffets were amazingly delicious. Close to town and quiet except for everyone slamming their room doors as hard as possible. Has a sauna and hot tub outside.

Great rooms for great prices and a included hot tub + gym. This was the absolute best price/value gem in our week trip across iceland. The hotel burger was the best hotel food I’ve ever had, I miss it.

Lovely hotel, extremely friendly and helpful staff (especially Veronica at reception!). The room was so spacious, very warm and cozy, and extremely clean. The beds are so comfortable and I couldn't get over how quiet it was. I had the best sleep! The hotel is just outside town nestled just at the foot of a mountain in off the main road so greater chances of spotting the northern lights! The breakfast is excellent too. Overall wonderful stay!

Beautiful hotel. Plenty of rooms with various views. Friendly and helpful staff. Hot jacuzzi. Delicious food. Beautiful area to walk around and can walk to the beach. Right off the main road so easy when traveling but the road is fairly quiet so doesn't disturb the beautiful peaceful scenary.

We had an excellent time. The people working here were very lovely and helpful. The room was very spacious and clean. We loved the hot tub, the breakfast, and the location. It was even darker than Vík so seeing the stars was really beautiful.

A nice hotel. Comfortable and we’ll insulated rooms (quiet and very warm). Staff are friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Far enough from town to glimpse the northern lights (if you walk out the parking lot).

Stayed for 1 night of a multi-day trip around Iceland. Unbelievable this is only a 3 star hotel. The rooms are very spacious and well equipped. Everything was new. The bathroom was modern and clean. There is a lovely outdoor hot tub with an amazing view and water from the hot springs. The breakfast was by far the best we had in Iceland. So much variety of foods and options.

What can I say? It's just perfect. The location, the breakfast buffet, the cold beers and funny banter from the staff. It's just perfect.

Rooms are large, clean and modern, we were lucky enough to see the aurora overhead that night too so to give it anything less than five stars would be criminal. It's amazing, just book it.

Great place to stay! The room was large and comfortable. We slept very well after a long day exploring the south coast and woke up to one of the best breakfasts we had in Iceland. Lovely hotel! We would stay here again!

Hotel - really cozy with lots of seating areas dotted around. Accommodation is in separate buildings adjacent to the main building.
Staff - friendly and helpful.
Restaurant & Food - large, nice atmosphere. The breakfast was delicious and had a wide selection of options. We got the buffet for dinner (6,200 ISK pp) and it was worthwhile, we got to try many dishes and desserts.
Rooms - our room was large, much bigger than other hotel rooms we stayed at. It was a nice surprise. We had nice views of the lake and local mountains.
Facilities - this hotel has an outdoor geothermal pool which made our stay even more pleasant. We had a nighttime dip as it’s open until 11pm (you can stay on longer but they need to close the changing rooms beside as they’ve been used by campers in the past who were not staying in the hotel). There is also a hot and cold sauna beside the pool. Changing rooms with showers and towels.
We would definitely stay here again.

Hotel Katla is a wonderful hotel. My fiancé and I were on an Iceland roadtrip last week during Christmas in 2022. We were supposed to drive out to the Glacier Lagoon but the weather turned and the roads were closed past Vik. We tried our luck to stop at the Hotel Katla since I had stayed there 6 years prior and knew the Hotel Katla was amazing.

We were lucky enough to get one of the last rooms available since the weather had been bad all Christmas weekend. The front desk attendant was SO kind, accommodating, and friendly despite being under a ton of stress from stranded tourists. He helped us make sure our room was ready, clean, and available. And he helped us make sure the roads were safe the next day before we left.

The Hotel Katla was extremely accommodating in terms of extending our check-out time until the roads reopened the day after we checked in and was willing to let us stay another night at the same rate as the night before if we couldn't leave.

The restaurant served delicious foods and opened for lunch on the day the roads were closed to make sure all hotel guests were able to eat if they chose to.

The hotel manager was friendly and welcoming, as were the bartenders and waitresses. The housekeepers were also very kind.

We look forward to returning to the Hotel Katla in good weather conditions. It is a wonderful hotel, with great service and amenities, in a fabulous location.
