Breathtaking views! You'll feel like you're on top of the world. The lighthouse itself isn't open (that we saw), but it's the view you're here for. Getting here is just a short drive from the Dyrholaey observation area if you don't want to hike up. Be careful of the wind. The black beaches, white surf, black lava, and green mosses make up a stunning palette.

The view is amazing. You can walk around freely. Very few people. Free parking, free entry. I would recommend crampons in winter.

Breathtaking views to the black sand beach and to the surrounding mountains. If you visiting the black sand beach you must go there too, it's just a 5 min car drive and you have a parking near the lighthouse so you can walk around the place and have amazing views all around. And it's free too.

A wonderful view from this point, it's gonna be very windy so be ready, you can hike from the lighthouse free parking down to the black beach, easy going down hill but keep in mind the effort it will take you to go back up to the parking.

We watched another group of cars make it up to the top before attempting it in the snow. Absolutely blowing a gale at the top but magnificent views from all directions!

Beautiful Lighthouse on the edge of the cliff. You can take many beautiful and scenic pictures from here! There is also a puffin nesting spot that you can see and take pictures. Some puffins fly even closer to pose!

If you go further down the road from Reykjavik you can get to Black Sand Beach that is also very beautiful!

Overall, greatly recommend visiting this place!

A wonderful spot for a short, medium, or long walk with incredible mountain and ocean views. This was a stunning stop, one of my favorites from my trip, and I would highly recommend it!

Absolutely unbelievable views from the top of this small hill. Free parking, and a 360° degree view of the surrounding areas.

It was beautiful to see we end up having a private tour and it was very good. Learn a lot about how they were created and how do they name them .

A lighthouse is built on the edge of the cliff, the light of which shows the way for ships. What is more important for tourists are the platforms that were built on the edge of the abyss. Thanks to them, we have the opportunity to observe the ocean, beach and glacier even better.

Two roads lead to the lighthouse - one quite steep for cars and the other for pedestrians. In August, both were easily passable, but I'm afraid that in the winter months you need to have a proper vehicle. In front of the entrance there is a mandatory sign for four wheel drive and driving at a minimum speed of 20 km/h.

There's a free parking place at the top of the rock but it use to be full but you can park along the street. You can also park on the other parking place below and go up by foot. The rock is an ideal place where to watch Puffins in July/August.

Attention!!!! We were here on November 7th, 2023 at 4pm with a silver Hyundai i10. A young lady with black hair and a white SUV hit her driver's door into our passenger door and ran away without leaving a message. If anyone has any information about it or has seen anything, please let me know. The Police is informed.
And if the lady reads this message, lightning will strike you!

Otherwise nice view here. Be careful when opening the car door. It can be very windy.

I visited here in winter obviously. So if you Google this place you will come too the entrance. It’s blocked in winter and requires about a 20minutes walk to the lighthouse itself. Parking is free just outside the gate. When you’re up there the views as you can see from the pictures are beautiful. Full mountain range view, a view of the arch and the black sand beaches as well. Well worth the visit.

From this vantage point you can see a lot of puffins. Nice view of the beach. Please be respectful to the nature and these animals. They are not to play with and dont feed them or disturb them.

Must stop site in Vik area. Absolutely stunning views. Free parking, could easily spend an hour soaking in the beauty of this place. Can get pretty windy and cold, so go prepared.

Absolutely no need for a 4x4, my camper made it up here with no issues. Tarmac road all the way to the top and good car park. Lots and lots of puffins (mid July) beautiful views.

Very impressive views for sure. To get up there you should probably drive a 4x4, although not mandatory. It’s incredibly windy up there, so hold on to your stuff or better yet don’t bring anything but your camera. It’s just a short trail once you’ve parked, where you can go once around the lighthouse and a short path further along the coast if you feel like it.
But again, there is nothing to actually do up there, just really have a moment to take in the breathtaking view, the loud noise from waves crashing against super impressive cliffs, and all of the salt water gushed up from down below.
It’s worth the quick drive off Highway 1 for sure. Also, if you need a WC there is a small but very tidy one just down the road (make a right when coming down from the lighthouse, instead of taking left towards Highway 1).

Beautiful views of the black sand beach and the bridges.
Must stop here on your south Iceland tour, just outside Vik
Highly recommended!!

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Prepare for the possibility that you won’t find a parking space at the top of the hill near the lighthouse, worth driving around until one opens up if needed. No guard rails on the road to the lighthouse so, obviously, be careful.
