We booked a fishing trip, and it was amazing! The captain of the Elliðaey (I’m not going to try to spell his name because I will butcher it) was friendly and exactly on time. He was very kind and patient, and we caught fish immediately (like 30 seconds after dropping our lines in, sometimes 2-3 at a time! There are 3 hooks on each rod). Very large and delicious cod. We probably caught around 30 but lost count. The captain filleted all of them for us too. It was one of the best fishing trips we have ever take! Highly recommended! Thank you, captain!

We had a great fishing trip! Our captain was super nice and accommodating. Caught many fish. Some big ones too.
Saw puffins and seals!
Captain cleaned and fillet the fish so they are ready for dinner!

Joe and his fisherman friend brought us out for 3 hour fishing trip and it was incredibly fun. Their zeal to catch a big fish felt like they were also anglers who want to get a big catch. We caught cod, carbonero and pollack. Highly recommended, good place if you intend to go to snæfellsnes peninsula.

My wife and I took a private tour. It was fantastic. Our guide showed us the islands of Breidafjordur. His family has been in those islands for generations. He took us to see a courting pair of rare white-tailed eagles, and showed us seals and sea caves and island farms. All the while he was telling us about the history of the region and explaining what we were seeing. The cost was comparable to the much less personal tour on a much larger boat.

These guys are legit fishermen that know the waters well. We had a blast the whole trip, caught more cod than we could count in various sizes (some 5kg+) to the point where our arms got tired.
They fileted the fish we wanted to keep which we are, as I'm writing this, currently enjoying - butter fried of course. Strongly recommended to join these guys on the sea!

Excellent tour with a small boat! We set off to see puffins, but also saw some white tail eagles, a seal pup, and all kinds of other birds. Beautiful scenery, and the captain was very careful not to disturb the birds (and the seal). Recommended!

Amazing experience for me and my daughter (12yo). Gently drove us to the bay and fish. She did lots more than me. The only ‘but’ we could say is that we only have seen cods… but, hope they didn’t do for it ;)

Hreiðar emailed us the afternoon before our scheduled angling tour to say that there was a windstorm in the forecast and all trips the next day would be cancelled, but that he could take us out right away if we were available. Luckily, we were, and so the two of us had an excellent private evening fishing trip. We caught several small (catch-and-release size) cod and one keeper each, and took away more than enough fish for dinner. Hreiðar was an excellent guide for us newbies, and very pleasant and chatty. We also saw some puffins and other birds while cruising between fishing spots, which was a nice bonus.

Unbelievable, unforgettable experience. We lucked out and it was just our family of 4 - 2 parents, two kids 8 and 7. The captain was so warm and funny and sweet to our kids. He tried so hard to find areas to increase our odds of finding fish…we ended up catching 35, mostly huge cod!!! First time fishing for 3 out of the 4 of us. The captain went above and beyond and brought us to see puffins after. And he helped fillet the fish which led to an incredible meal afterwards. Highly, highly recommend!!!!

Such a great trip! I booked it one day earlier and when we arrive, we found out it was just us 3... we have the whole boat to ourselves. The captain was super nice and have explained a lot of things about birds and Icelandic culture. Saw some really cute puffins and got a lot of the fish!!! My parents were so excited and it was far more better than those big-ship trip...

August tour review - This was an absolutely awesome Puffin tour! We were on a small boat with just another couple (tours average ~9 or so normally). We did the 9 am tour and toured the perimeter of a small island some 15 mins or so from the harbor. There were so many puffins and we had great views of swimming, flying, and nesting! It was a highlight of our Iceland trip. After the tour, we enjoyed a light meal from a local food truck at the harbor. It was a delightful day!

Edit - I wrote review based on our August tour but had inadvertently posted it to SeaTours, which we did not take!

The 2 hour fishing adventure far exceeded my expectations. I mentioned to the captain, I am only looking to catch 2 fish this big (30 inches long). My first cod landed was at least that and that was only in the first 5 minutes after starting to fish. I highly recommend this family run business if you are looking for a great time with personalized service. Oh I forgot to mention, my wife and I caught over 30 cod within the short time on the sea.

Highlight of our Iceland experience - fishing with Hreidrar. My girlfriend and I hired him, last minute, for a two hour adventure. We called him at 3:10 and he said: meet me at the boat in 40 minutes. Voila. We pulled up 34 cod. Pulling up those fish was exhausting, but we were deliriously happy. (Those cod are not the smartest fish in the sea.) Afterward, Hreidrar gutted our fish and we walked across the wharf, to the old wooden restaurant with candles in the windows, where they prepared our own fish for our dinner. If you go to Iceland, you need to experience it from a boat. Fishing and tourism are their main revenue stream - see it like a native, 'cause there ain't no beauty shops nearby.

During our trip in the Western part of Iceland, we were looking for a sea angling tour nearby and we found this hidden-gem agency. The weather was perfect, we were only two but they kindly accepted us to go fishing without any change in fees marked on the site. Output : 19 cods and 1 whiting ! Captain Hreider explained and showed us how to manage the equipment and we caught so many fishes during a couple of hours(maybe three- we don't even remember as time had gone so fast on the boat !) even though we are absolutely amateurs ! Thank you so much for this amazing agency for this exclusive travel. If you are curious about the pictures onboard check out on my Instagram : @min.fr
