Beautiful small beach where you can see the basalt columns from very close and from different angles, even though it was very misty. It is definitely worth a visit (we came from Skagastrond campsite). There were no other tourists. There is even a toilet. Be aware that the stones on the beach can be slippery.

Very peaceful and quiet location, with a photogenic lighthouse and fascinating basalt rocks. Even has a picnic table and toilets. Great stop on the loop of the island

Nice secluded place, beautiful views. Google Maps has not mapped out the road that will take you directly there, but the photo attached shows the sign you need to turn at to get there off the main road.

Very beautiful location with lighthouse and basalt columns, great for landscape photography. We have also seen some horses roaming around :)

Pleasant surprise to find this interesting spot by chance. Basalt columns and the remains of a sod house village from the early 20th century. And a visit from a seal. Stunning, quiet location.

No F roads but you need to drive for about 15 min on gravel. Truly an amazing place. Especially when you consider that we never saw another person there in mid August.
Well kept toilets.

If you have the time to loop the beautiful Skagi peninsula this will be one of your primary stops. It includes a lighthouse overlooking lava rock columns that crystalize with hexagonal cross sections. Walking out to the lighthouse you may be dive bombed (in a non dangerous way) by Arctic terns protecting their nests.

Turn at the sign. Google maps missed the turn-off entirely. There's a short causeway, then the parking area. Gate is closed, but just needs to be unhooked. Came out to see the unusual style of lighthouse, but was blown away by the geological formations. There's a tide pool made from basalt that looks like the inside of a boat, and the coves to the south have twisting, turning basalt that graphically demonstrate the tumult of lava cooling. Nobody else there, but the animals that left droppings Everywhere. The rest of the drive around the headland is superb.

We came for the lighthouse and basalt columns - Google Maps will send you past the turn off you need to take. The road to the lighthouse is earlier and has a little road sign - you can see it on the satellite view. There is a gate you can open to get on the grass path to the lighthouse.

Beautiful basalt columns, provide unique and interesting pictures. Down a inconspicuous gravel road, only the light house is visible from the road. The 3hr drive from Reykjavik is well worth it.

Lighthouse at Kálfshamarsvík in northern Iceland.
Initially build in 1913 and rebuild in early 40'.
Steep sea cliffs are made of beautifully formed columnar basalt are very characteristic for the area around the lighthouse, providing astonishing scenery and excellent photography opportunity.

Nice place. Very easy accessible with car comparing to other lighthouses on the north. Place to park. Toilets. Good outlook to the Dragnajokull.
