Museum of Prophecies

Very lovely exhibit with a fantastic guide. Well worth the excursion off the ring road to learn about Þórdís.

Absolutely fascinating experience. A well set out museum as well as a series of stories about the local history of witchcraft and characters in the local area. Arrange a visit there if you can manage it!

We were visiting in early October, so I emailed to see if they would be open.

I’m so glad I did. Dagný wrote back to say what time she could be there, and gave my partner and I one of the best museum experiences of our lives. Her passion for the stories of Thordis truly shone through, and we learned so much about her and the various ways of prophecy. This is a truly unique experience, and you should check it out if you are in the area.

I had such a lovely visit. The ladies working there are so frendly and kind. The tour isn't especially long, but the tour guide made it up for it with passion and charisma. She apologiesed at the end for her poor english, which she totally didn't need to. I had no problem understanding her.
This museum made my day and I can only recommend a visit.

I loved this place , beautiful people. Great stories, I went to Iceland looking for the place where my grandmother grew up. It was at the Museum of prophecies I met a lady told her family history and names, found out I had a cousin living right there in that town. I got to meet him and his lovely family. Stayed at a B&B which was lovely. I'd stay there again anytime. What a great little community.

Nos desviamos del camino solo para ir a este museo, y puedo decir que mereció totalmente la pena!
Llegamos justo a tiempo para el tour, en él explican como se fundó museo, las diferentes creencias de los islandeses y las islandesas,y historias y folklore popular de toda esa zona relacionados con las creencias y la brujería 🧙
Es todo tan entretenido que en ningún momento nos aburrimos!!

El precio es de 1200kr y su horario es un poco limitado, pero si coinciden con que está abierto, no duden en visitarlo!

Cooles Museum, die Führung durchs Museum echt klasse. Die junge Frau hat hat nichr nur gut erzählt, sie hat sehr gut "gespielt".

Smaller than I expected but the storytelling experience was fascinating and the staff were very kind and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone who is around the area, well worth the drive.
