Lava Hostel

Great affordable hostel in a beautiful city with a very nice host. There is a shared kitchen and a washing machine which is handy. There is also a food-share shelf where you can take leftover food from previous travelers. It was a pleasant indoor stop on our otherwise camping trip.

Really nice campsite, clean facilities. It was a little bit strange as it is right by a park and the washrooms reserved for campers are often used as "public" washrooms. The shower wasn't draining the day we stayed there so we weren't able to take showers but the hostel building had some available (which I didn't realize until we were leaving). Overall good experience and would definitely stay again! FREE LAUNDRY (this is rare... very rare in Reykjavik).

A lovely place to stay and a great location for exploring both Reykjavik and the rest of Iceland. Great facilities, and campsite guests can also use hostel facilities until 10pm. Really nice and useful staff. Plus by staying here you support a local scouts group. Can't recommend enough

The staff was just super friendly and helpful. Campsite and hostel are very clean. And everything was inclusive like washing machine, showers etc. had a great stay!! Clean and nice 👍🏼

Super friendly staff, great kitchen with fridge, stoves, oven and common kitchen equipment, four showers. The rooms are great and there is a lot of space in the common areas.

Nice equipped camping place. You can cook in the hostel til 10 pm. There are two showers, for each gender one. The bathrooms are separate from the hostels but the camp place is not that big.

Awesome. Free showers, free stove usage, free washing machine and drier. You can find a lot of tanks left by guests who are leaving Iceland. You can also hang out in the common area of the hostel if you are staying in the playground. The field is well protected by the wind and the ground is flat and soft. You can rent a towel for 500ISK

Alexander, the manager, is incredibly helpful and a constant ray of sunshine in the hostel. The hostel is clean and well kept. Highly recommended staying here.

Nice campsite, free shower and laundry. Right next to a park which makes for a nice area to walk around. The actual campsite place was a little small and felt cramped on the Tuesday night that we stayed. The price was 1700ISK/person, more expensive than any of our other campsites but it was the cheapest we could find so close to Reykjavik.

Nice flat site with good kitchen available for campers. So far though, the WiFi connects but doesn't work. Although upon showing this to reception, I was connected to a different network that works 😊

Cosy and warm hostel. I spent two nights there. I used both kitchen and toilets, and everything was working well.

Felt like in a big family. The host received me with cakes and hot milk-coffee. I made a lot of friends there. We are still friends.

If you happen to visit Hafnarfjörður, the lava hostel and the campsite are perfect for a relaxed stay. The park just outside is a must

Nous y avons passé 3 jours et nous sommes très satisfaits des services offerts. Légèrement plus dispendieux que les autres campings en Islande mais tout est gratuit et propre : douche chaude, wifi, barbecue, cuisine/vaisselle, machine à laver/sécher, grande zone communautaire chauffée.

Der Campingplatz ist nicht sehr groß aber bietet ausreichend Platz für den laufenden Betrieb, falls eine große Gruppe kommt dann gibt es ein großes Feld das für eine Nacht benutzt werden kann. Zumindest war das der Fall als ich hier war. 13 Caravan sind da einfach mal aufgetaucht. Die Duschen und WCs sind sauber, man kann seine Wäsche waschen und auch als Camper die Küche im Hostel benutzen und auch dort frühstücken. Sehr angenehm nach einer verregneten kalten Nacht. Im Vergleich zu anderen Campingplätzen ist dieser hier herausragend. Gratis W-Lan und Strom zum Aufladen sämtlicher Elektronik inbegriffen im Preis.

Absolutnie doskonałe miejsce na chwilową przerwę w trekkingu. W cenie prysznic, dostęp do kuchni z free food i świetlicy, gdzie mimo isladzkiego lata jest sucho i ciepło. W okolicy zaczyna się kilka ciekawych szlaków do wędrówek. Obsługa miła i sympatyczna.
