If you're traveling to Iceland and not on an unlimited budget then this is the Supermarket of choice for regular groceries and supplies.

They are well stocked with day to day items. And if you're not Icelandic and cannot understand the labels pick up the bonus labelled merchandise for the best price.

We survived on their bread, ham etc.

Iceland dairy seemed to be Lactose free. The Butter tasted heavenly.

Once you've been to a Bonus store, they have a similar layout anywhere. The chain store is also available in most major towns and cities.

Easily identified by the large Pink Pig symbol. And if you've forgotten the shopping bag, they have quite a few options. The large bright yellow Bonus bag is sturdy enough to last the whole trip and then some more.

They have a reasonable sized section for fresh vegetables as well. And a decent selection of condiments and ice cream as well.

From a cost to quality point, can't beat Bonus!

It's a good shop located close to several car rental companies in the area. They have the same prices like every other Bonus in Iceland and because the shop a little bit bigger then some of them, you can basically find anything you need. Oh, not to mention that there is a huge parking lot therefore you will have plenty of space to park your car, even a van or roadhouse.

Hubby and I loved this Bonus because it happened to be the closest grocery store to our Airbnb. They have a lot of vegan options, especially a vegan sandwitch we were OBSESSED with! It was simple but so delicious. They also had great snacks and healthy variety of options, including a lot of fresh juices. Because eating out in Iceland can get expensive, grocery shopping is a lifeline to stock up for trips! And everything else outdoors is free to do.

Just came here to grab some snack before having a long drive. I think they have almost everything. The price is also good.

As others have noted, there is plenty of parking even for bigger vehicles.
This Bonus store has most of the features of a US grocery store although less selection. (For example, at my US grocery store they generally carry a minimum of five kinds of grapes -- green, red, black, plus two organic varieties -- while they had only one kind --red-- when we stopped by today.)
They have a good selection of candy so you can stock up before you leave.
And they have almost anything else you may need.
One note: in Iceland most people bring their own bags everywhere. If you need bags you can buy them. Once you buy a couple you can reuse them everywhere.

BONUS!!!

Always a great selection of food. Shelves are always well stocked and also nice to grab a coffee on way round.

I enjoy buying a trolly full of icelandic food prior to my departure.

Nice relaxed shop and you can just potter around at your leisure

Great prices. Travellers should really use this store to help cut costs in Iceland. It even had products we were used to having back in Canada/the UK, and new Icelandic food I have never tried, like their thick yogurt and blue cheese Brie!

A grocery store that has a good selection of what you may be looking for! Beware of the prices though, Iceland is a little more expensive than your country of origin since many things have to be imported.

Cheapest place to shop for food in Iceland. Stores are located in most towns, and you can buy food for your day trips. Didn't see alcohol though. Opens later on Sundays.

This place helped us out alot during our stay in iceland. We shopped here everyone day. We could get enough of the pre-made sandwiches. They have great Vegan Sandwiches.

Great variety of local Fare and US favorites. The cheese and yogurt selections we're numerous. Use your credit card, they don't take US currency.

We loved this bonus. Not only did it save us alot of money, it had good quality meats and produce. Also, we had a few young workers who were very helpful when we could not figure out what something was. Thank you bonus!

My first time in an Icelandic grocery store. Had everything we needed, but made me feel like I was back in the 70's.

In the midst of the industrial himalaya quarter of the rural town of Hafnarfjordur, sits the Shangri-la of grocery stores. Whether you're in need for Swedish meatballs, Indian Naan bread or deep freezed salted cod bacalá, the Norse gods smile upon you in your quest for cravings. All Hail Bónus, the Palace of Delicacies.
