The canyon is really nice. The hike ia more like an uphill walk, with some view points on the way and a very nice waterfall at the end. Due to the season, the path was muddy and slippery, but even so, the was a 50 minutes walk from parking lot and back

Gorgeous gorge. It's a shame Bieber fans shut this down at one point (Google it).

FYI The bathrooms close during winter. There is a rest stop about 7km away open year round.

This is an incredible canyon and there are many places to stop and take in the views along the way. It is very beautiful and well worth the visit. It's a little bit of a hike to see it all in it's entirety, but it's well worth it. The end of the hike has a view of a waterfall and there are so many incredible views of the canyon along the way. When we went the restrooms were not open so I would use the restroom before going here and enjoy the time along the trail viewing the canyon and waterfall. Both are truly breathtaking!

Must see! You can't visit Iceland and miss this surreal area, a puzzle of cliffs separated by a fjord and a river, you'll find sheep roaming around, at sunrise hours there was no one in this place, but usually day time this will overcrowded. Free parking, public toilets were locked in October.

This location was shown in the movie Thor: The Dark World, and my friend also commented that Justine Bieber did a music video shoot over in these canyons (I’m not a fan of him, but my friend is). Anyway, I had a great time here, and it’s filled with curves and hidden spots for pictures or videos to shoot. To go up and down the hills, there is a long trail that you can follow, and it has a nice view up at the top!

The drive to get here was spectacular, too!

Awesome place! Very different in the snow. Windy and quite open to the elements when it's minus 10.

Beautiful canyon. It feels serene to just be here. The hike to the view point is a bit challenging but you can see it's beauty without full making the hike

Nice canyon. Couldn't reach the higher viewpoint since the path was very icy.

This was a surprise stop on our south coast tour. The landscape here looks like something magical out of a fairytale. Definitely worth adding to your itinerary.

A serene, blissful, out-of-this-world canyon! The sheer beauty and purity can overwhelm anyone. DO NOT MISS this place when you are travelling in South Iceland.

Absolutely gorgeous. We visited mid week late September and were able to park close to the trailhead. Walking path is wide and provides a handful of really great vantage points to take in the views.

Quite a spectacular canyon. Very beautiful and well worth the visit. There is a bit of a hike to see it in its entirity, but you are rewarded all the way around. Free to enter. Pay parking. Toilets available.

The third of the view points is worth the walk. The path is maintained and is an easy walk but it is a brisk uphill walk.

We enjoyed our hike at this 2 million year old canyon! They have a decent sized parking lot and a easy trail to follow! It took about 30 minutes to get to the end of the trail which ends at a stunning overlook area showcasing the most beautiful view of the canyon. We did a lot of hikes on our vacation and loved this one. Breath taking beauty that is out of this world.

You can go to the canyon by car and park there (I cannot remember if the parking is free or needs to be paid via an app ... but we did'nt pay anything). It is a dirt road but it is doable - there are definitely worse roads on Iceland. The toilets were out of order. From the parking place you can start a trek (about 1h there and back) to the view point.

We went here mid October and it was incredible. It seems like most people parked at the bottom and walked up the hill but we put Fjarðarárgljúfur Viewpoint in Google Maps and it took us up a dirt track road to about a 3 minute walk away from the view point which was great.

The parking at the top was limited but it seems like not many people knew about it so it was fine - we did go on a weekday though.

It was stunning and looked like they were out of National Geographic! You could walk along the side of it for about a 10 minute walk.

This is a must visit location. Accessed a short distance from E1 over two small bridges and a decent road surface. To appreciate the enormity of this canyon you have to climb the trail leading up from the car park. Takes a good half hour to get to the waterfall at the far end of the canyon with all the photo stops along the way!

Absolutely beautiful views. We hiked uphill, into the wind, for about 25 minutes. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it for the views of the canyon. There are metal walkways with great viewpoints at the end - easy to find. Parking is 1000 isk and can be paid with the parka app easily. There is a WC at the entrance to the trail.

Really cool to see in person. Great hike!

only downside was people were parking in the road and blocking a whole lane when there were MANY available parking spaces in the lot. Made it hard to get in and out
