Everything was perfect!
My partner and I stayed for one night, but we would have liked to stay much longer!
We really appreciated Leana's warm welcome. The place itself is wonderful (the view, the architecture, the cleanliness...), but I must insist on the hospitality of the hosts. We loved learning about the history of this unique place, the delicious breakfast, plus the tips on places to discover around the peninsula.
We visited the recommended places, and everything was just great.

This was our best accommodation of the trip, and we highly recommend this experience to everyone!

We really enjoyed our stay at Drangar! We had a really nice room in the “cow barn” with a lovely ocean view, and were lucky to get a spectacular northern lights show on both of our nights here. Our room was spotless and comfortable, and the included breakfast was great. The hosts were kind and welcoming and had lots of helpful knowledge to share about the area. We’d readily recommend it and would be glad to stay here again!

You'll feel like family at this stunning (inside and out) Icelandic guesthouse. When it comes to hospitality Leana and Knutur are top notch hosts. We were welcomed by Leana after a day of road tripping the Snæfellsnes Peninsula with warmth and good conversation. She showed us around the guesthouse and spoke about the history of the once cow farm turned architecturally stunning Grangar Guesthouse. She even offered to stay connected throughout the night in case the northern lights decided to put on a show (alas, they did not, but I knew we would be covered if they did). The following morning breakfast was served in the other guesthouse which provided my family and I more opportunity to bask in the beauty the entire property has to offer. Not only are the views among the best we had in Iceland, Knutur also spent about an hour answering my questions and providing Iceland knowledge I didn't know I would be in for. They were also extremely welcoming and accommodating for our almost 2 year old daughter. My family and I did a 13 day road trip around the entire country and I can safely say this stay was my most memorable overall experience. My only regret is only staying for 1 night instead of 2. Even if this may be a little off the beaten path, I promise you it's worth the extra time in the car.

Staying at Drangar is like vacationing on another planet. It's super remote, very avant garde, and worth the drive. The attention to detail is impressive, with every room and common area thoughtfully decorated. The views from the property are spectacular, even during stormy weather. We're excited to go back for a longer stay!

We built our Iceland trip around room availability at this remote guest house, and we're glad we did! The owners are informative, interactive, attentive, and proud. We had some great conversations about Icelandic history, architecture/design, and cultural observations with them. The buildings, rooms, and surroundings are all beautiful - we really enjoyed the stay!

The best guesthouse experience we have ever had.

The hostess Leana is hospitality personified. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a very warm welcome, which immediately made us feel at home and made us feel like we had an old friend in Iceland! She asked us in detail about our itinerary and provided bespoke dining/traveling recommendations, which greatly amplified our experience in Iceland.

The breakfast, located in a spacious dining room with full-class windows overseeing a fjord, is included and was delicious as they are made by the elderly owners based on home recipies.

The guesthouse itself is worth noting as it is designed by two renowned architects and has won two architectural awards; it is modern, clean, homely, AND beautiful.

It is impossible to list everything that we liked about our stays at Drangar. It is a gem that perhaps should best be discovered/experienced first hand.

To borrow a phrase, Drangar is like “Snaefellsness in miniature”. We will be returning to Iceland, and we hope to stay at Drangar again.

We stayed at Drangar in April of 2021. My family and I live in Iceland, and have visited numerous guesthouses and small hotels over the years.

Drangar stands out for a few reasons: First, the location is beautiful and convenient to all the sights in the Snæfellsness Peninsula area. Second, the service is provided by the hard-working family who own the guesthouse, so there's a unique level of care and attention to detail that is hard to find elsewhere. Finally, the architectural design concept of the guesthouse and their rooms is interesting and memorable.

A full-service hotel it is not, but you will rarely encounter a rural guesthouse in Iceland whose owners will put as much of themselves into making your stay memorable as they will at Drangar.

Drangar was a great place to stay and explore the peninsula. Leana and Knutur are incredibly generous hosts, and spent time answering all our questions about Iceland, sagas, and the build of the farmhouse. The room was beautifully designed and kept. I loved the breakfast - yogurt, homemade breads and jams, cereal, tea, coffee, salami and ham, eggs and tomatoes, juice, and fruit. We have no hesitation about recommending a stay here and hope to return someday.

I stayed at the Dranger guesthouse in June this year and it was by far the most beautiful stay of all! The views are amazing and the rooms are so lovely with the interior, the showers are top notch :). Breakfast is lovely, too. And the owners are so very nice and accommodating. Can recommend this lovely place to everyone!

Such a shame I can't give 6 ✨
Wonderful welcome from the hosts, full of interesting local information. Simple but delicious and plentiful breakfast. Amazing views, and fabulous accommodation whether in the cowshed or tractor shed. Peace, quiet, tranquility. We were so lucky with weather. Bit of a long gravel road drive from the West. Took our own food for dinner to avoid the drive for to a restaurant. Home comforts. Loved it!!

It was a pleasure to stay here. The owners told us so many interesting things at breakfast. The rooms were very clean, everything is new and comfortable. The view on the Breidafjördr is so exciting. We loved to stay in this guest House! Regina, Nicole and the kids

Wonderful guest house in the Snæfellsnes peninsula. The rooms  & common area were very clean. Lovely hosts & they treat their guests as family. We had to leave early & they packed our breakfast previous night.

Cannot recommend Drangar highly enough -- this is an old cattle farm renovated into a simple and elegant guesthouse. the buildings themselves are beautiful -- all covered in copper siding, which has an astonishingly beautiful patina -- and the rooms are cozy and comfortable. mine had a perfect view out onto the Breiðafjörður, the huge fjord north of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula full of small islands. About a half-hour drive from the main road and 40 min or so to Stykkishólmur where one can get a delicious dinner or catch the ferry north. Fantastic stay!

Lovely family run guest house in the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Recently fully renovated old farmhouse, with meticulous attention to detail. Friendly staff, premium amenities, and very clean, everything you could ask for. Just be aware, its largest benefit and drawback is its location, ~20 minutes of driving on a gravel road away from anything else.

My husband and I went for one night while taking a weekend trip to Snæfellsness. The hotel is wonderful, we arrived very late (which they were great at accommodating) and woke up to a phenomenal view. Great attention to detail and care has been taken in the renovation of the barn, turning it into a high quality hotel with the rustic, Icelandic, country feel.

The bed was very comfortable. The shower and other facilities were very nice, and clean. The breakfast consisted of breads, hard boiled eggs, cereal, skyr, and more. The hosts we're great at suggesting things to see and do around the area, and we're quick to warn us of a COVID-19 outbreak in a town nearby so we could avoid it.

This was by far the nicest and most heartwarming welcome we had in iceland. Leana and Knutur are great hosts and if you ask them, they have a lot to tell you about the farm, the area and the history it has. We also got a lot of good tips for the following days.

The farm / guesthouse itself is very impressing, stylish and full of great architecture. Nonetheless its super cozy.

If you visit Snaefellsnes, make sure to stay here, you wont regret it.

If you are looking for peace and quiet, Drangar is the place to go!
Visiting Snaefellness you have to plan a stay at Drangar. It is positioned just at the sea side overlooking the sea and several small islands full of fascinating birds (we were able to watch one of the rare eagles!).
Drangar is famous and awarded for its outstanding design. We stayed in a room of the old cow shed, where a house was built into the house! Although we are more into traditional cottages, when looking for accommodation, Drangar was very comfortable and cozy! We were fascinated how old pieces of the barn were reused in the newly established hotel (e.g., beams of the roof were made into wonderful tables!).
Drangar offers a good breakfast with besides many other items homemade jam und a very good sweet bread. We were a bit worried, because Dragan is located some kilometers from the next restaurant, but is not offering dinner. This wasn’t a problem at all! The owners were offering advice on different excellent restaurants nearby. You just have to make sure to book a table in advance.
Drangar is definitely worth visiting! If you don‘t come for the peace and quiet, look for the design or just the good breakfast!

Such a unique place. The couple kept the old charm of the farm and turned it into a beautiful guest house. Very comfortable and modern but keeping with the original concept of the building. The couple that runs it were really sweet and interesting to talk to at breakfast.
