What a great little find. Super friendly staff. A small but very well thought out and engaging museum about Icelandic life. If you're close by, definitely worth a visit.. 😊

The exhibition is simple yet hearty free entrance when you are a guest at the restaurant. We dined here twice and the food is very good. We love the lamb soup it's the best. Main course Fish Combo is good, we also had the grilled lamb, very delicious. I also age the meatball, more of a comfort food with jam. The chocolate LAVA is a Must order. Enjoy the pics! And the service is fantastic. Super friendly and welcoming.

So glad to have found this place to have coffee and lunch. It was a calm place to chill and warm up on my cross country bike tour. Thank you!

Despite our late arrival, we were fortunate to have the chance to order food just 15 minutes before the kitchen closed, and it was a delightful surprise. The food was not only delicious but also allowed us to savor traditional Icelandic flavors. We relished a hearty traditional soup, lamb carpaccio, and were absolutely blown away by the incredible lamb chops.

What a surprise! Really clever small museum celebrating the writers life from modest farming to renowned author and sage. Fascinating reconstructions of where he lived and beautiful prose from his books. Good coffee too, and lunch menu looked good though we didn't eat. Staff were really helpful. 👌

Wondering stop on the way to Hofn, in a spectacular wild setting close to the ocean (the sea makes a constant roar in the background). The centre and restaurant are modern and well maintained. The food was local and great - we had the lamb soup and local bread and it was perfect. Lovely staff and the perfect break in the trip.

Great audio tour, the museum is done in detail. Beautiful location and friendly staff. We had lunch here and tried the local beer- Vatnajökull- a must try if you're traveling in the southern parts of Iceland. There is also a souvenir shop and some books of the famous author.

We did not have time to properly visit the museum, but the restaurant was wonderful for breakfast! Definitely try the smoked trout on toast. The setting is beautiful, and it's super close/convenient to Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon

We stayed at the Hali Country Hotel nearby and had breakfast here the next morning. It was surprisingly large and tasty; in fact it was one of the best breakfasts we had in Iceland. The people working there were very pleasant, and the little gift shop had a lot of nice little souvenirs. The geocache just outside also makes this a great location.

I had 2 dinners into the restaurant "Museum Restaurant", linked to the "Hali Country Hotel". I really appreciated the strong respect of the safety measures during our meals. No many dishes are proposed but a very good quality is guaranteed (I recommend you lamb dishes). All the main courses included also a side dish with salad, tomatoes, onion and a sauce. Also dessert are very tasty. I really enjoyed this place!

This is a review of the restaurant only. The food was nice! Great fresh bread, the smoked fish was good. We enjoyed the meatballs. The lamb was tender and deliciously. Glad to have a veggie option. It was mediocre. The staff was very nice.

I don't know about the museum but you can have great lunch here. When ordering coffee of tea, you get free refills. Sandwiches with herring or salmon are lovely. Waffles are also very nice and freshly baked.

The food here is amazing. Not your ordinary Icelandic burger-and-cod place. Their steamed Arctic Char is super soft, well seasoned and tasty. The fish stew is more like a casserole but was nice too. Staff is super friendly and the view out to sea is lovely.

This is only a review for the restaurant. They had great food and service! There are both vegetarian as well as meat lover option. Would definitely recommend the local lamb 😋
