The glacier lagoon is already incredible to behold, but doing a boat tour in it takes it to the next level. Zodiac boats are able to navigate between the icebergs allowing you to get very close to them. This makes it possible to see seals, which we saw a few of. The guides also give good info on the area. Highly recommended.

This was such a spectacular experience. Seeing the ice bergs up close and the Glacier at the end of the lagoon. We were able to see a seal lounging on a rock and several birds flying by. The calmness and quietness by the glacier was sureal. Our boat tour operator, Markus, was so funny and knowledgeable. We appreciated the warm suits they supplied for us as the cold air really does bite. Excellent experience - highly recommend when going to the lagoon.

Simon was an excellent guide! Very knowledgeable and funny. He was able to answer all of our questions and knew where to find the wildlife.
You are provided with a warm suit, so no need for too many layers in September. Highly recommend having some sort of strap for camera/phone. It is very windy and you are sitting right on the edge of the boat!
Amazing scenery, highly recommend this tour for those who want to get up close to the glacier.

Incredible, once in a lifetime experience! This was my favorite thing out of everything we did in Iceland (and we did a lot in Iceland!). Our guide, Adam, was wonderful. Seeing the Vatnajökull Glacier (one of the biggest in the world) and icebergs up close was amazing. It felt like a movie and like nothing I’ve ever seen in real life before.

We got to get very close to the glacier wall and took amazing photos with it. The rib boat makes it so you can get so close (unlike some of the larger boats on other tours) and even goes to other parts of the lagoon, again which bigger boats can’t go to. The boat was comfortable and we felt save the entire time. If you’re lucky, you’ll even get to see a seal close up!

THIS is the tour to book for an incredible Jökulsárlón experience.

Amazing experience. Very reasonably priced for what you get. Once in a lifetime chance to get up close with icebergs and a glacier. Staff were great - friendly, fun and knowledge.

Many "zodiac tours", many operators. We happened to get this one via artic adventures and Chavi was the best! Loved it!
Closed starting Nov so I'm happy we managed to do it!

Gotta love this place and the zodiac tour! Simply amazing. Tamara was an incredible guide for my group. Very knowledgeable and extremely enthusiastic about the glaciers and all the natural wonders around the lagoon.

FYI, We got extremely lucky with lots of new deep blue icebergs that day.

We had a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Closeup views of icebergs, seals an the glacier. The glacier is huge and totally impressing. It would have be worth every cent anyway, but we were lucky. An iceberg cracked, capsized and disintegrated right in front of us.
The team is ultra friendly. Book the tour. NOW. Elsewise you'll miss something.

Very pleased we opted for this tour instead of the larger boat or the kayak option. I do love kayaking, but, as far as I could tell, the RIBs are the only crafts that will take you all the way to the glacier's edge. The guides were informative and nice to have around. The reviews are, obviously, incredible. The tour also lasted 20 minutes longer than advertised. No complaints here.

An incredible experience that I cannot recommend enough. Erik, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history of the area. We had an amazing time and loved the early morning time slot due to the quiet of the lagoon.

Excellent tour, well run. We were dressed up warmly and we got some great photos and videos including ice breaking off the glacier (😢), a seal resting on a rock, and countless beautiful blue ice pictures. Erik was a good tour guide and very informative.

Great experience, it was amazing to sea the icebergs and explore the lagoon on a zodiak. The water was a bit rough that day but we felt very safe with our captain (Paulina?). They provide you with life vests and waterproof and warm overalls so we felt pretty comfortable on the zodiak. No seals when we got there as its past mating season and they leave the lagoon until their babies are born later in July or so

If you are wondering when to book this before your travel. I suggest asap because this tour runs out. Its better than the shorter tour Amphibian. This will take you close to icebergs and the glacier from where the icebergs break off. There is a mini white truck like checkin place, you go there and check in first and they will give you a slip. With the slip you go next door to another truck( it will be marked with Zodiac tours). You need to reach atleast 30 mins before time, i recommend to reach 40 mins before to enjoy food at cafe( its good packed sandwiches you can microwave there itself). They ask you to keep your jackets there, i recommend to keep in your car and then come, make sure you have warmer inside for extra warmth( it can get cold). The boat is 10 Mins walk from dressing truck, your tour then starts for about 1.5 hours. Sitting in front of the both will be best for a good view and pictures. You can explore diamond beach opposite to road from this lagoon( it takes 1.5 hours to nicely explore beach before lagoon).

The best tour we did in Iceland and the highlight of our trip. Worth every effort to get there. You are given full immersion suits and head out to the zodiacs for a one hour tour of the ice lagoon. You get up close to the glacier snout and can hear and see the ice calving. Our guide Tamara was not only excellent but extremely knowledgeable re the glaciology. After the snout we headed off to see the basking seals and take in some of the bergs great tour and really professionally well managed.

As we went through passport control on entering Iceland, the inspector said "if your do one thing while you're in Iceland, go to the Ice Lagoon". Fortunately it was scheduled in on our route in the South and was so worth the trip. Photos don't do it justice, its way better than it looks and the guides on the Zodiacs are full of interesting facts about the area. Very worthwhile.

Fun morning on the zodiac tour. Saw 3 seals and learned a lot about the glacier and icebergs from our captain, Simon. Great start to our day! Highly recommend!

The zodiac tour was highlight orlf our Iceland trip! We were able to get incredible photos being so close to the glacier and icebergs. Holt was a great captain and they fit you with a suit to keep you warm on the boat.

We really enjoyed our tour! We lucked out with the weather, the wind was really calm and there was a beautiful fog drifting over the glacier. The weather would really be the biggest variable with this trip. Our guide was great and funny, helped us with lots of facts and information about the area to make the trip really enjoyable. Super glad they provided the windproof/waterproof suits to keep us warm the entire time. Overall it was a great trip and I would recommend it to anyone in the area, great way to see the glacier up close!

This was a great tour. We booked the zodiac tour, but it had to be cancelled due to winds. They said we could wait to see if the wind died down, but it was unlikely. The other option was a full refund and a free ticket on the amphibious boat so we took that option.

Everything was very efficient, which we love. A lot of places aren't on time at all. That is not the case here. We left at exactly our starting time so do not be late.

They let us look up close at a piece of ice that was floating around. It is so clear. The guide gave a short history while we were on the lagoon. I highly recommend this tour.

The entire time we were on the water there was another zodiac boat following us in case of emergencies. The amphibious boat itself also appeared to have an emergency raft mounted to it. Everything was very well prepared and safe.

We got there and the weather was terrible and so the tour had to be cancelled. Fortunately they allowed us to reschedule free of charge or get a refund. We rescheduled for the next day and the weather was amazing. We booked the zodiac tour. The tour guide was excellent, really lovely and informative. We saw two seals one of them was right next to the boat. We even heard an iceberg breaking and the guide sped to the area so we could see the breakage. The scenery was spectacular, really something amazing full of glaciers. Must visit.well worth the money!!
