It was a pleasant trek, this is a valley that is surround by the greeny mountain. There are several trails you can choose depends on the time you can take. Blue trail is the easy one but with all the view of the valley. You can take the yellow route if the weather is good and you have 2-3 hours at least to enjoy the lovely place. I feel it, recommend you to feel it too.

It is a nice "hidden" place. 10 years ago it was an insider tip.
Now it is almost crowded. Don't expect it to be not well frequented. The leady at the reception is extremely focused on you having a great stay. Kudos! Also note that the electricity for the camp is made by water power. Very cool! Also the hot shower is powered by electricity!
I really enjoyed my stay. Make sure to spend some time in the cave!

Hidden gem! Stumbled upon this campsite while browsing google maps. The scenery on the drive out and around the campsite is gorgeous. The owners were super friendly. The campsite is large enough to accommodate many campers (it was busier than I had expected, but not crowded). Showers were clean and consistent, but expect a little queue.

If you are in any reasonable physical fitness, do not come here without hiking out to the glacier. Easily ranks in my all-time top 10 of prettiest places in the world. It is unlike the other glaciers in Iceland, as it drops off a sheer cliff, and you'll have the place mostly to yourself! Take some time to appreciate the falling ice! The hike is about 2 hours one-way (steady uphill after the first initial steep climb), maybe 1.5 hours back. It could be done as a day-hike without camping there as well.

The road out is a gravel road of varying condition, most parts are fine, on some parts I'd recommend some ground clearance (or good driving skills). Easily doable in a compact SUV (non 4x4). Expect a 45 minute drive out at a moderate pace.

We spent 1 night for 2 people we paid 3600ISK. The most amazing place we stayed in Island. It's worth it we are just in the middle of the mountains. There is a cut cave were you have table and you can eat, hidden from the bad weather.
The showers are clogged and dirty. There are only 2. It is asked 200 ISK for the toilets.
Overall, a wonderful experience, recommend it.

Most beautiful camping site on our whole Iceland trip! The drive there is pretty bumpy but it’s through beautiful nature. The camping site itself is located in a little valley. It was a bit misty and cold, but the location was totally worth it! There are hot showers to warm up :)

Best camping I’ve ever been to. Location is beautiful and there are all you might need, toilet shower, and a place to cook and chill in a cave. There are multiple hiking routes around, staring from few kilometres finishing on 17km long hike, during which you can see beautiful mountains and glacier. We paid 2500 isk for night per person, when sleeping in tent.

This is, by far, the most stunning campsite we have been to in Iceland. It's about 16k up a gravel track, through the mountains. There were normal cars there, but any large motor home, or anything a bit delicate, might want to avoid. If you make the effort to drive to this campsite, you'll be rewarded with the most breathtaking scenery. The campsite itself has toilets and showers included in the price. Please don't overlook this. You won't regret it!

The campsite is gorgeously located, a small waterfall with basin (perfect for a quick swim) is just down the path (5-minute walk) and the campsite has everything you need, toilets, showers (with warm water), sinks to do the dishes and even its own cave filled with picknick-tables perfect for having dinner and winding down whilst playing a game. In the cave are candles and there is fireplace, it was truly amazing!

And the drive up to the campsite is something to enjoy by itself! The location couldn’t be better and the reception staff will tell you all you want to know, the best hikes, routes and how safe it is to go out! Definitely recommend.

By far the most spectacular campsite we have been thus far! It is tuck away from the ring road, so expect a bumpy F-road alike drive up to the place (around 40mins from the main road up to the campsite). Would highly recommend 4x4 cars only if you do not have experience driving along gravel/ bumpy roads.
Hot showers available, facilities are all pretty decent; as I’ve mentioned, the view at the campsite outweighs all the other factors to be considered :) there’s a few hiking routes from the campsite as well, we didn’t manage to try them tho.

The best place that we had for seeing the northern lights.
The service was amazing, Adam was one of the kindest persons that we have met here.

Very recommended (although the 30 min drive with a privet car to the camping area).

Must visit campsite in Iceland. The drive there is not for the faint-hearted but totally worth it! Lovely clean toilets and bathrooms. Delightful cave to eat. And what a view to wake up to!

The campground, staff and facilities are fantastic. But this review is mostly about trail (lack of) safety and caution.

The gravel/rocky road to the campsite is also some of the most scenic drives in Iceland. Absolutely loved the campsite. Highly recommend driving out there and camping.

Now about the hikes: If you're even slightly afraid of heights, inexperienced, or afraid of walking on exposed sloped ledges with hundreds of meters/feet drops, I would skip the hikes.

We did the 6-8 hour Yellow trail (which has the same start as the purple trail), and even as an experienced mountain hiker, I almost fell off the mountain side twice at the start and end of the trail. I was sliding down towards the edge of the cliff with no traction and was barely able to stop the slide by grabbing some grass on the side of the trail.

The trails up and down the sides of the mountains need serious repair work or redesign. They are washed out, muddy, or have loose dry soil on steep slopes with very little traction.

There is one more scary part of the trail where you have about a foot (quarter of a meter) wide trail with rocks on one side, and a big sloped drop on the other side. You have to duck under the rocks while keeping your upward momentum so as to not fall.

But we also saw some super serious hikers and trail runners who weren't bothered by the trail conditions at all, so.. 🤷

I genuinely believe it's only a matter of time before someone falls off the mountain sides unless the trail is repaired or designed better.

Certainly the most unique campsite I’ve ever been to and am eager to return as soon as I can. It’s a 10 mile F road to the campsite. Quite rough in places but all 4x4’s are capable and we spotted a couple of 2WD vehicles there also. Toilets and showers are nice. Huts/lodges are also available. There’s a cave with a wood burning stove and picnic bench seating for around 40 people. This makes for a great communal cooking and socialising area. There are a variety of hiking routes from the site ranging from about 2 to 8 hours. The weather was awful so we couldn’t experience any hiking but we sure will next time we visit.

What a special place! The drive to the campground is stunning we had an AWD Dacia Duster on a dry day, so it was fun and easy. I think at least a small SUV is helpful on the bumpy road, but most cars would likely be ok on a good day.

We enjoy the tiny cottage house and the bed was so comfortable and we were happy to cook a warm meal. Adam that helps run the campground is so cool. The scenery is some of the best in the country. I jumped in the cold river. So refreshing. Tons of hiking trails and the hike to the glacier was so great! Follow us online @quenchyouradventure for more travel content!

Scenic and breathtaking view! What makes perfect is a very friendly receptionist, Adam! Really helpful and informative. The camp area is so large so you can put your car and tent wherever you want. Hidden gem for trekking of iceland!!!

Our favorite camping spot by far! Very remote, quiet and well equipped. Wish we could stay longer and do all the trails around.

I would highly reccomend for 4x4 cars to get there only. It was little advanture to get there by off road, but place is so so nice. We did plane stay in our campervan but decided to stay in hut and it was so comfy and warm night. The guy at the reception is so nice and friendly.

Convenient location for the hikes, albeit quite expensive. Paid 2300ISK per person.

Staff were super friendly. Outdoor sinks had hot water for dishes and the showers were clean but had some mold on the ceiling. Drinking water tasted great.

Getting to this place can be a bit challenging, also if you're driving a 4x4 Dacia Duster like we did. It took us over an hour to reach our destination. However, once you arrive, the rewards are well worth the effort. One highlight is the eerie and mystical waterfall in the valley, which is particularly captivating to visit during the night (I would say).

First we were a bit worried about the road coming here since we only had a bigger 2WD van and it was rainy and foggy. But the views on the drive are out of this world and worth it on their own. The road is rough with potholes and loose gravel but doable with any car if you drive slow and careful.
The campsite itself is situated in a wonderful little valley with plenty of space and common cooking facilities in a cave. Adam, the guy in charge, was very friendly and helpful. We paid 2500ISK/person with showers included. There are onyl two showers so some queueing might be necessary but the facilities are heated and clean.
We liked it so much here that we came back again a couple days later to stay another night and do the hike to the glacier. On the way up you mostly follow an old access road. On retourn you can either loop around eastwards on a single path with more great vistas but also some very steep descents on cliffsides or walk the easier path along the road back.
