Great place, few tourists, nice hot springs. Only drawback is closed toilets so people even pooped behind it…

Small, free-of-charge parking lot. No service at all (two little huts for unknown purposes).
Easy walk on wooden sidewalks; may be done in about twenty minutes. Hot water sulphuric sources, little ponds on both sides.
A professional might use much more appropriate names, but the place is interesting for the average traveller as well.

Seltun is an amazing area of fumeroles and mud pots. There is a large free carpark nearby. You can then walk on boardwalks around all the various pools, mud pots etc. Then take a hike further up the hill, this will then give you a fabulous view of this whole area of the penisular to the sea. The whole area smells of sulphur and is like being on an alien planet.

Very well preserved and developed for easy walking to take a look of geothermal area. Toilets here is not clean and no water.

Very impressive thing to see in passing. Visited in the snow so we were still able to see the water and steam because of its vast heat.

Another place with hot springs, of which there are a huge number in Iceland. Immediately after getting out of the car, you can smell a strong sulfurous smell. It is everywhere here, so I do not recommend this place for people with sensitivity to unpleasant odors. Wooden platforms make it easy to approach the springs and see the boiling puddles.

Went over to this peninsula to do some sightseeing today but unfortunately there was snowy roads and the sides are very steep so we got. As far as these geothermal area. There are some steps you can go up. There's a platform looking down on them. There's also a boardwalk with some of the geothermal puddles next to it, so they're very cute ones and there's a river that's steaming along so it was quite interesting

The view does not disappoint from the top. Not extremely busy and a cool thing to see. Beautiful drive right next to the ocean to get there!

Stopped here in July 2023. Sunny day and made for a nice 30 min stop. There is a trail that goes to a higher peak, but we did not take it.
Smell can be strong at times. But the views and learning about the geothermal geysers are amazing.
There is a free men’s and women’s restroom on-site by the parking lot.

They build wooden decks, so its safer to walk through. Beautiful place, especially in winter.

Love a good geothermal spot, and this one fit the bill. A compact area that has all the smelly good stuff that makes these places so fun. Signs explain about the special plants that thrive in these unique ecosystems. Lots of beautiful colors produced by the minerals in the water. Solid boardwalk takes you all around the area. Parking and WC's (closed in the off season) mere steps away.

Another geothermal area that is easy to reach and should not be missed. It is relatively big and you can even hike up the hill and discover more. Also the hill offers some nice views on the surroundings.

A delightful place with free parking and lots of interesting pools to enjoy a quieter geothermal area.

A fascinating place, and likely to be much less crowded than some other famous areas of its kind. Wandering round here, it's easy to imagine you're on another planet. The ground is a variety of weird colours, the sulphurous smell, and the numerous bubbling and steaming watercourses really give the place a strange otherworldly vibe. Worth a visit.

Great place to see and walk amongst colourful geothermal hot springs on the Reykjanes Peninsula. I visited on a cool, wet and windy day in June, after stopping to see the lake nearby, so didn't stay long as I didn't have full rain gear on.

Amazing geothermal area that is as impressive as any of the 'hot' spots you will find in Iceland. A well prepared trail takes you past bubbling mud pools and a steaming and VERY stinky lake. The rocks are multicoloured because of the mineral deposits from the water.

I love this place. Takes about 30 min to get here from Reykjavik but feels like another planet. Lots of really interesting and fun geothermal action here, and you can get up close and personal with it. Highly recommend!

This was a great stop not far from the hotel. You could see the geothermal steam, bubbling water, and smell the sulfur.
